Div 5 LORDS

Looks like Div 5 only has 5 races this year. Cordova and Cedar Falls was bought by IHRA . Tom

Tri-State would be the most logical choice if actual car counts matter.

Re: Div 5 LORDS

I think Cordova will still NHRA till the end of the 2014 season if i read it right on the cordova web site. 2015 i vote for tri state to have 2 races.

Greg,
I am pretty sure Cordova is IHRA now. Will be IHRA in 2014. Somebody correct me if I am wrong.

I vote for 2 at bandimere or go back to douglas the week before the mile high's like it used to be. Of course i am biased since i live in Denver.

Denver treats stock racers poorly as they get sent out to the outback 2 miles from the start line

The home page of Cordova Dragway confirms that the change is immediate.

At the LODRS Event? Pit spaces are first come, first served at that event.

I agree. Would be nice to have more races on the west side of Division 5!

If they are giving a track a second race, why not have it in the middle of the division? Like Topeka. Tom

Topeka? I agree with you Lane, no thanks I am still recovering from that race in august.

Re: Div 5 LORDS

Does it have to be in August? Div 4 is smart enough to skip July & August. Too stinking hit to be any fun.

Why not have one in St Louis? I know its out of Division-5 but so was Cordova!

How about Earlville the week before Brainerd Nat
And Earlville the week after Indy Nats

The real question is how does an event get added? Perhaps a sportsman nationals without alcohol cars? Distance is certainly a factor. What are the good options?

Re: Div 5 LORDS

I do not know how NHRA & D5 pick a track or how much said track has to pay to hold an event or if Tri-State would want another event.

But if I were running a business, I would put the event where I would get the biggest car count / return on investment.

Be fun to have a back-to-back weekend there, or better yet, move Topeka and go Earlville-Indy-Earlville...

Re: Div 5 LORDS

It would be nice to have a race later in the fall. Being done at the first part of September when you do not start until Late May, if you race just Div 5 does not give you a shot at the REAL GOOD air. Maybe then we could some damage instead of our East /West coast brothers.

Re: Div 5 LORDS

I'm not sure how it works now, but when I was involved with race tracks the track stuck it's neck out and bought the package from the racing association.
Pretty sure it is similar today with maybe a little tougher contract. A year or two before the split of Alky from divisionals to regionals I was told by a person with NHRA the complete Divisional package took 400 cars for a track to crack the nut! No wonder they took the alky guys out. That is a hard sell for the smaller tracks. I would say it is the Div. Directors job to sell the product to tracks that have the ability to support the event. I would suggest that you give your Div. Director a call and express yourself.

Re: Div 5 LORDS

The national open at Kearney had a lot of racers commenting how great the way they were treated, with home made food, and everyone helping each racer.

If they were going to do this, why didn't they just run a Double Points Race in July or August like IHRA does?

Haven`t for a while. Last time I was in Topeka for a Division race that time of year it was 100 degrees,95% humidity and a constant 25 mph headwind. Brutal.

I can't remember not having a head wind there. All the pavement is nice if it rains, but makes it hotter otherwise. We get those temps all the time around here. 4000' DAs are very common. I have a love-hate relationship with that place. LOL
