SRAC Meeting
As announced on NHRA, there will be a conference call meeting of the S/SS committee on Oct. 17. Any racer can send me an email about anything they think needs attention. Someone posted about the aluminum radiators, and I thought that was done, but I will find out before that date. I am Div 4 rep, and your reps are listed on NHRA. I have heard from several Hemi racers and I am still not sure what the ruling is on the heads for next year. I know what Stephen Hebert, Lloyd Worford, and Lil Joe think already. Any and all other topics are open game. jefft@southlanddodge.com or PM me here.

Re: SRAC Meeting
Jeff,
I was the person wondering about aluminum radiators. They were still enforcing the old rule as late as the Charlotte race this Fall, so I don't think it was a done deal - at least not for the balance of 2013. See what you can find out please... I believe my rep is Jeff Taylor for D3...but have no way of contacting him. Tim Gillespie 3990 F/SA |
Re: SRAC Meeting
Header tethers!
Is there another option with nut/bolt/kotter pin (was discussed on here at some point), that's more cost effective then tethers. |
Re: SRAC Meeting
Tim, I sent NHRA an email about the radiators. Will keep everyone informed. Also someone send me pictures or locations on these theather things. I bet I can have them made in quantity cheap by a friend who makes cables & slings for the oilfield. Also a beer drinking friend who goes to Indy with me.

Re: SRAC Meeting
Jeff, how about asking them to amend the "2014 Header Collector ruling" from "1" of stitch weld on each tube" to include "or minimum 2 fully welded tubes on each collector and tab and bolt on remaining slip-fit tubes". That should make it possible to remove the headers on some of these cars as welding all 4 tubes might make it not possible on some cars.

Re: SRAC Meeting
And there's the X-pipe systems that are hung via a hanger set up to the car itself. Just consider how many things have to fail for a collector to come off that setup.

Re: SRAC Meeting
And please remember that some of us still try to squeeze out a little bit with primary extensions if required in certain situations. Also welding on some coatings will fail even when the surface is ground to clean metal. Embrittlement or something similar.
I'm not particularly fond of having a collector on a wire flopping around under my car possibly puncturing a front tire or severing a brake line or igniting my oil soaked engine diaper from sparks flying etc. etc. |
Re: SRAC Meeting
Any news from SRAC meeting regarding rule changes?
|
Re: SRAC Meeting
Basically not a lot of objection from the racers according to the members, just lots of objection to the price. I have a local source that can make those things. I'm going to send NHRA a set and get it approved. Will be cheap. How about Cajun Connectors for the Collectors? Nice ring.
