Congrats to David Barton
Congrats on your factory shootout win at Zmax today, and well on the
#1Q spot. |
Re: Congrats to David Barton
Big time congrats David; the 9.015 was great; and then an 8.999@147.29 in the Factory Stock Showdown final!
|
Re: Congrats to David Barton
Congrats!
PROVING once again you have the baddest Drag Pak car on the planet! Why others don't just buy your engine and electronics package is beyond me. |

Re: Congrats to David Barton
The motor didn't pass in Indy.
|
Re: Congrats to David Barton
No but it passed at Etown when resubmitted for tech

Come on guy, give credit where credit is due. David was 3 tenths of a cc shy on the runner volume. Hardly a performance advantage. David past tech with flying colors at e-town the week after Indy. Think what you want about Barton, but he is dam fast and everyone knows it. 8.99@147 2800ft with a bar of 29.11 is fast is anybody's book. Great Job David and Al Carp and everyone involved. With all do respect Jeff, I'm not sure this was the thread to make such a post. |

Congratulations David, and I hope FS is planned for the Dutch Classic.
Say what you want about these new age Super Cars, but it sure has injected the Buzz drag racing has needed. |

Re: Congrats to David Barton
I haven't seen the published minimum weights for the FSC, but what do they compare to, in a traditional Stock class? Example, min wt in FSC for a '12 COPO 427/425 (or any of the FSC combinations), is it close to BB weight? CC? In between? Just wondering. Either way, 8.99 is pretty darn quick for a naturally aspirated motor at 3,000+ pounds. It wasn't THAT long ago (spring 2001) that the first nine (9) second Stocker run was made. Now, a mere twelve years later, we have about ten-twelve cars with EIGHT second runs to their credit. Would have made for a decent head start if I still had the HF/SA car :p

Re: Congrats to David Barton
way to go David! You guys know how to do it! Big congrats!!

Re: Congrats to David Barton
David broke out in Rd. 3 - dialed 8.92 and ran 8.907@148.71. Incredible performance by David and his team!

FS/AC: Minimum weight up to 400 cid, 3,250 pounds; 401 to 450 cid, 3,350 pounds; 10.50 index FS/DC: Minimum weight 451-plus cid, 3,200 pounds; all supercharged, 3,500 pounds; 10.20 index |
Re: Congrats to David Barton
Announced by the NHRA on March 27:
FS/AC: Minimum weight up to 400 CID 3250Lbs, 401 to 450 CID 3350Lbs, index 10.50 FS/DC: Minimum weight 451 + CID 3200Lbs, all supercharged 3500Lbs, index 10.20 According to the NHRA Classification Guide, David's car has a factor of 7.11 which makes it a "natural" BB car, minimum weight 3200 lbs, on a 10.30 index. That means he was 150 lbs heavy, but he was running on a 10.50 index instead of the 10.30 BB index. No matter how you look at it; that car is scary fast! |
Re: Congrats to David Barton
Hmmm... A 2012, 427/425-445 COPO Camaro. In BB/SA, it weighs 3,285 pound minimum weight. 10.30 Index, so any run of 9.100 or quicker results in a penalty.
In FS/AC, It will weigh 3,350 pounds. 10.50 Index. And NO penalty via the AHFS. Let's see...add sixty-five pounds...get a two-tenths softer Index...and the ability to run as fast as you want, with no AHFS penalty. Yeah...I'd run the FSCS too...lol. Not a knock on David (or anyone in FSCS) for doing what they do. That is flying at 8.90. Without a blower, too! Wonder how close other cars were to AA, BB etc weight. |

Re: Congrats to David Barton
That car is impressive for a N/A "stocker". Seems to me like it would have to make 800hp or a little more.
|
Re: Congrats to David Barton
Which engine is this? Very impressive, whichever it is!

Re: Congrats to David Barton
Congrats David. It was nice to meet you this weekend. Well deserved win.

Re: Congrats to David Barton
Thank you everybody for the support, it means a lot to me. I have to say it was pretty cool racing the FS class. I hope it continues to grow as much as some people anticipate.
I definitely can't take all of the credit because I could not have done it without a long list of people. Most importantly Al Carp and my Dad Ray. I wouldn't be in this position without either one of them. I also have to thank Mopar and Arrow, Dale Aldo, Mike Roth for the killer chassis, AEM, Santhuff Shocks, Joel's On Joy Trans, and ATI Converters. They not only made it all come together in such a short amount of time, but they also provided me with the parts I needed to pull it off. And I can't leave out the fact that Ken Miele went out of his way to help out a fellow racer. After Indy he knew I was in need of a way to make it to Charlotte so he offered to pick me up and bring me along. He also introduced me to a great bunch of guys, the Cook Brothers racing team. They backed me 100% all weekend. They made me feel like I was right at home. Thanks again. |
