2014 Mustang 3.7 V6 in Ihra Pure Stock

Hi Every One,
I just got a 2014 Mustang 3.7 v6, I would like to build it for ihra pure stock . I ran stock elim. years ago with a 70 Chevelle but a lot has changed . I could not find it in the stock classification guide ! How can I get it Classified to run in pure stock would really like to start class racing again ! I did some math and it seems it will fall in D or E /pure stock.
Any help would be great
Thanks
Tony K.

Contact Mike Baker and he will help you get it sorted.
That would be great to get fresh blood in the sport.

Sure hope he can get you classified.

Welcome to the board.
Congrats on getting your 2014 Mustang. I would love to have one of those to tinker with.

Since IHRA follows NHRA's lead (for the most part), I would think it might take some real good talking to get that car approved for Pure Stock, seeing as how Ford only wants their Cobra Jet Mustangs allowed in Stock.

However, if IHRA would take the lead and allow the new production pony cars in Stock, I would think they could attract a lot more racers to the class. (and fresh blood)

Notice I said production cars and not "1 of 50" cars....

I would love to see the V-6 Camaros, Mustangs, and Challengers allowed in Stock.
Would be great to see what those cars can do.

Thanks guys I will get in touch with Mike Baker to see what can be done ! I hope they get the new cars classified ! it will add big time to the car count in stock ! I Know a few people that would compete in pure stock with Camaros, mustangs and dodges. My Mustang has already gone a best of 13.73 @ 100 in good air with just an k& n air filter and a mild tune. Thanks for all the help will keep you posted on what happens.
Thanks again
Tony K.

Maybe IHRA can get specs on a real car that the general public can buy off the dealer's showroom floor. All NHRA gets is factory racecar specs that the general public cannot purchase or be driven on the street.

Hell, I was advocating for Imports to be included.

This is out right Un-American not to add real street driven American cars..

Ok I sent Mike Baker and e-mail asking how I can get the mustang classified for pure stock ! when I here back from him on this I will let everybody know what he said !
Thanks for all the support !
Tony K.
P.S.- I looked at my time slips again and it ran 101.65 mph with 2.73 gears , auto. trans.and street tires ! not to bad for a stock V6 that weights 3670 with me in it and a 1/2 tank of gas !

That must be Fords decision not to furnish the new car specs to NHRA. I can't understand why NHRA wouldn't want them. It would have to mean a few more cars out there.

The 4.17 first gear really makes a difference in those 6 speed autos don't they?! The auto also isn't a power robbing slush box they used to be anymore.

I hope you are able to get it accepted! Congrats on the new ride.

Can anybody on here point me in a direction so that I could get this combo approved for NHRA? I have a 2011 V6 Mustang, and would love to race it in Stock. Just not sure where to even start. Combos like this might really open up Stock and might even help to get some new blood in the class. Thanks for any and all help.

Ok Mike got back to me and I gave him the specs I have on the new cars he said he is going to make some calls and that it might take a little time but we will get it all sorted out ! It looks like it will happen just don't know how long! I will be staying on top of this so will let everybody know when it gets certified ! Yes I still get 32 mpg on the highway ( on the way to the races ) 6-seed autos are great 4.17 1st ( 2.00 60' with 2.73 gears and street tire ) I am looking so forward to this I can hardly sleep !
The guy that wants to run NHRA stock good luck I contacted NHRA a few times with no response ! Maybe you will have better luck or you can run IHRA when this is all done !
Thanks for all the support

Re: 2014 Mustang 3.7 V6 in Ihra Pure Stock

That's cool! Good luck, hope it works out for you. Unfortunately, IHRA tracks are few and far between here in Division 6, so I'll have to do my best to convince NHRA to allow the 3.7 V6 in Stock. A battle I don't see myself winning. With Ford currently being the official vehicle of NHRA, I have a feeling that they just want the factory cobra jets in stock, no V6s...Even though these new engines are pretty amazing. I'll keep you posted on what happens with NHRA.
