Indy 2013
It's down to 2 grade points, Stock numbers near 50, SS near 60, so we got lots of stuff to decide. What is it gonna take to get in? Who knows? Who is going to Bowling Green? Who is staying in Bowling Green cause your car needs help after Bowling Green. Who is going to Topeka? Do they have a test session? Will anyone take a hit to go to No. 1?
The SS/AH guys numbers are climbing. What NHRA gonna do about the heads for next year? It was better with a cross ram when 8.99 was good. How many AH cars will go home because (1) they didn't get in or (2) they got in and blew up all their stuff in the Last Final Go for the Elephant motors (3) they did good and SS eliminator ain't worth hurting those expensive motors (4) just don't want to (5) all of the above (6) some of the above. Who will be in the barn? Who should be in the barn, but they gave it up at 1000'?, I'm sure there are many more, but I just can't remember. How about a little help or comment. |

Jeff, you know me, I'm coming to Choot 'out. We lost two of our guys in a matter of weeks. Tim and Jeff would want you there if you have a car so sign up! As for your questions, barn and "under the bus" seem to be my "hang". See you there. SLH
PS New car in the makes. Check out RMRE thread under the build section.... |
Re: Indy 2013
important questions for sure but what we really want to know, who is going to be the Social Director this year?
|
Re: Indy 2013
Miss Amy will handle the chore. I hope to engage the whole crew from last year.
|
Re: Indy 2013
Probably going to have to set out this year. Only hour and a half away and it's killing me. Don't really have the funds for this years race. Might make the St. Louis nats. Anyone need a driver for Indy? Semi finales in super stock last year.

Re: Indy 2013
Well Jeff, I have Larry's "Riot Control" and my "Class Couth & Cultural Director" shirts all washed up and ready to go! Looking forward to many adult beverages and fun to be had by all! So are you and Mrs. Carolyn going to go on the rest of the tour with us and Mike and Paula Cotten this fall? We should have a blast!!

Re: Indy 2013
I cannot WAIT until Indy and would be extremely privileged to be the social director two years running for you Jeff....this team is a CLASS ACT and you either go BIG or go home and I have a feeling that Jeff and the gang are gonna go BIG...oh yes...very, very BIG!!! :)

Re: Indy 2013
I am looking forward to Indy!!!! Almost 2 months off between Norwalk & Indy is just too much!
And to top it off I will be there with my awesome new motorhome that I purchased from Diamond RV, and picked up on July 30 which was my birthday. (Thanks Marc Labrecque!) Patsy save me some wine!!! -Karen |
Re: Indy 2013
Karen,
The wine will be flowing!!! |
Re: Indy 2013
Nearing 60 in Stock, over 60 in SS, got Miss Any engaged, Got the Hills, who am I missing? I'm wondering who in BB,CC,AA, is going to be in the Shoot Out. Can't register in that class. Lots of possibilities. Stephen Hebert will be in SS/AH with that beautiful new car from the "new" camp. Saw him run 8.39 so I know he is a player. And we gonna see if RJ can run with Randy Eakins in D/SA. Several other match-ups out there. Shoots out all over the place A/S, A/SA, Factory Classes, should be interesting. And of course you got the midwest folks about 3 rows from the rear fence, always good for a good time. Officially in Panic mode as of today with 3 weeks till departure. I heard there was no tear down this year? Might just be a wish list.

Re: Indy 2013
Since this is my last year, I really wanted to go to Indy one last time. I see two Drag Paks entered in my class now, and maybe at least one more coming. Instead of beating my head against the wall racing something with 75 to 100 more hp, rated four less than mine, I think I will stay home and let the bogus cars have it. Be much easier on my blood pressure. You guys have fun.

Re: Indy 2013
Ed if you can qualify ( I can't believe I'm saying this) who cares about class there. It's not what it used to be. Eight to ten hours in the barn in 90 to 100 degree heat. All for 0 contingency money. It's too bad, Indy is the one race NHRA should get the sponcers to pony up class win money. And I did win class my last time there 2 years ago in my brother's car. Kick me in the butt if I do it again!! It wasn't bad when we were young but at almost 60 no thank you. My back is good for about 15 minutes leaning over a car. Just go and enjoy the moment. Indy has always been my favorte race. Barry

Re: Indy 2013
Barry, wait till your a couple months away from 70. LOL
|
Re: Indy 2013
I can win $1100 for class at Indy.
Indy and sportsnationals still pay for class. Ed quit crying I think Jeff Dona and Decker have the same combo as you and they have plenty for the DP in H,I or J. |

Re: Indy 2013
I will put $200 on Dona's car vs any DP. Any takers ?
And the tin solider and Decker rides are the real deal to. A DP may win class but its not going to be a cake walk like you are trying to portray. Ed I don't know how many times I have seen fast car loose class. You should come to Indy if its your last year. Dose your car still fit SS/KA? |
Re: Indy 2013
I would take that bet.

Re: Indy 2013
This is exactly the shot in the arm that drag racing needs.Online gambling.
|
Re: Indy 2013
I believe drag racing is gambling you pay $300 plus to run a national event trying win $8000. That sounds like gambling to me.
And Ed its a deal |

Re: Indy 2013
Ed pushing 70 is all the more reason to go. As you said this is your last year. Charlie we aren't all driving new stangs with a stick. The only one that paid 2 years ago was vp and I wasn't smart enough to save a reciept.

Re: Indy 2013
VP
Ford Big stuff McLeod or ati Goodyear tired Jiffy tite fitting AFIS plug wired Moser axel Castrol oil |
Re: Indy 2013
I'm looking for two crew passes for Indy, anybody have some extras you would be willing to part with. Please let me know here, or PM me, or call 903-267-0633.
Thanks, Richard:) |
Re: Indy 2013
Charlie Bob, just exactly which DP are you talking about and in what class. I might take that bet. There might be things out there you don't know.

Re: Indy 2013
Charlie ATI is paying for Trany. They still don't do metric's. Mosier axles? Us over rated HP cars have to run all the light stuff to go under the index. LOL So now I need to change fittings, rear tires and oil. Then get beat up by a 10:50's (In bracket mode) new mustang G car. If I make it your girl going to let you visit with us or are you going to have to spend all your free time at the hotel room again. LOL
|
Re: Indy 2013
I always have time for you Barry. Just run I/SA no new cars fit that class.
I will make that bet with you to Mr Jeff. |
Re: Indy 2013
I can tell you all one thing, if you out run Jeff Dona and Ricky Decker in class at Indy you will have automatic hp on Monday morning.
|
Re: Indy 2013
It would be great if someone could come up with a fair way that all the participats of a class could place a bet on their car to win class. Not necessarily NHRA's class. In other words, the slower cars get a timed advantage according to quaifying. (A spot) You would have to use the 1/8 mile times of course, because of the 1000' foot rule. You could use Joe's stats to get a real idea of how fast someone's car is by the years average and use that as a barometer. Sort of like golf, you get handicaps, everyone in the class would have to beat the fastest time with the handicap added to win "Racer's Class". Even if it's only like $20. a car.
Just an Idea! Casey Miles 248H "F" NHRA Stock. |

When you have a car under rated by 75hp or so, getting 4 hp on Monday is no big deal. |
Re: Indy 2013
I think it would be more like 10-12hp on Monday.

Re: Indy 2013
Yea your right Larry and those guys at engines inc don't ever test anything. They just slapped some bone stock engine together and ran -1.50. It's that easy
Ed you are forgetting that there are no where near the gains with the new stuff. My heads for example are killer to start we have slowed down two sets trying to improve them. All factory heads way better then they were 20 years ago |
Re: Indy 2013
Besides the heads, you would have to be one dumb sucker to look at the specs for, an example, the LT1 and the 360" DP, and say "Yeah, those would be the same hp."
Gotta wonder about the guy at NHRA that accepted that. Give me the same compression, valve sizes, port volumes, and throttle body and give me the ten more cubic inches. Oh, and either take back my four hp, or give them four so we would weigh the same. Make us both 275, or 279. I would happily run them for class or heads up every day. Get beat and I would know I needed to work harder, not know I just got screwed. At least if I stay home, the LT1 guys that have been badgering me to slow my car down more, and not run too fast in class at Indy will be happy. |
