US nationals gets a new title sponsor.
General Motors Company and its Chevrolet Performance brand has signed a multi-year deal to become title rights sponsor of the largest and most prestigious event on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series circuit, the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.
So lets see if we can give them another all Cobra Jet final :D |

Re: US nationals gets a new title sponsor.
They paid back 5.8 billion, the rest in GM stock in 2010, five years early. Guess it depends on which "news" blog you want to believe.
According to Forbes, Ford is the only one that owes the gov money. http://www.forbes.com/sites/joannmul...-surprise-you/ |
Re: US nationals gets a new title sponsor.
Hey Chuck if you want to order a new GM tow vehicle, they will give you your share of the loan back in the form of a rebate.LOL

Re: US nationals gets a new title sponsor.
So does that mean the COPO's are going to get special superchargers and cams before then?

Re: US nationals gets a new title sponsor.
Doesn't matter it will still be nothing but Force and his Ford's anyway.

Re: US nationals gets a new title sponsor.
Regardless of how some of us feel about the bail out.................I really think this is good news for NHRA to attract some "new money" into the sport... My hat is off to them.

I have to agree. It's good to see some new sponsors come on board in our sport. I have really enjoyed the fact that the automakers having more presence in automotive sports. "An incoming tide lifts all boats." It's easy to hear and believe all the Doom and Gloom of how drag racing is dying but there is still interest in the sport. Just have to adapt and evolve with the times. "Who moved my cheese" |

I wondered if some was going to know that was a title of a book. It's a quick read but has something to offer. |

Excellent book and as said very quick read... Read it over 10years ago and it's still true today. |
Re: US nationals gets a new title sponsor.
government motors hasn't paid taxes in several years, wrote off what they screwed their former investors out of, and the United States tax payer is on the short end for billions and billions of dollars from the uaw bailout!!!!!
|
Re: US nationals gets a new title sponsor.
Ed , read the article and it states GM still owes 26.3 billion at the time it was written on 8/29/2012 and that number does not include additional money used to bailout GMAC, its a little un clear about Ford either 1/3 of 8 billion or 5.9 billion stated on page 2 . It clearly states GM owes the most and was the biggest recipient of the auto bail out and still owes the most money back to tax payers
I was not in favor of giving any auto maker or wall street any bailout . |

You guys are really sad.
Companies have to advertise to get market share. We should all be grateful for this. |

Re: US nationals gets a new title sponsor.
this country has been bailing out citizens since forever. lazy ones their whole lives. I cannot do anything about that but work, pay taxes. And most importantly try to get my car race ready.
Thank you GM for coming on board. Does Mopar still sponsor the nats in Denver? Might be nice to see ford step it up too. We know Toyota does in E Town, as North NJ is the East Coast Headquarters. Nice place too. I get to go for work a couple times yearly. |
Re: US nationals gets a new title sponsor.
Thanks Chevrolet Performance. That's all I have ever owned or raced for the 35 years I have had a drivers licence.

I think the Mopar sponsor relationship at Denver is the longest running of all naming rights. I am a Mopar guy but I think its great to see GM come onboard. I think its very good for the sport.

Re: US nationals gets a new title sponsor.
Yes Ford, Mopar, Toyota and now GM/Cheverolet performance. It's nice to see... I think we need to thank all the sponsors big and little, from events to contingency to individual cars.
I get a lot of help from Mike at BuyFordRacing, Scott at Progressive Tool & Die. |
Re: US nationals gets a new title sponsor.
Thanks Rawhide for correcting me. I appoligize as I forgot, yet did watch telecast.
So it seems better that our big 3 and Toyota are doing some sponsoring. They need a factory super car class for Sundays then. Chris |

^^ I argee. Even tho I will never be able to afford any of the CJ, DP, or COPOs, I believe their involvement will help the classes grow more popular. I am amazed at some guys at work that can spat off numbers on the new COPOs, (or Cobra Jets) even tho they know very little (if any) about Stock/Super Stock class racing. Oh, and Thanks to GM for sponsoring a race. Signed, A Ford Fan |
