Re: One you won't find in the Guide...
It was floating around on Facebook that said it was a '77 Maverick Wagon that was only marketed in Brazil.
Pretty neat lookin' ride, I think. |

Re: One you won't find in the Guide...
There were lots of weird export cars built by Ford, Gm and Chrysler.
I have seen Ford Fairmonts, 4-dr with 351W-4bbl and 1977-78 Chevy Nova's, 4-dr, 350-4bbl for police use. Also, at one time, I owned an export version of the Plymouth Volare Roadrunner, no catalytic converters and ran leaded fuel from the factory. Last year when I was in Dubai, there were a slew of late model Chevy Impala's powered by LS-1 engines. |
Re: One you won't find in the Guide...
Your a little late.
R.J. says he has a letter from Shelby saying they had FE's. Looks like Special NHRA approval is just around the corner. He is pulling the engine out of the red car and putting it in one. (after additional approval to widen the shock towers) Could be He is dreaming of lowering yet another index. |
Re: One you won't find in the Guide...
100 of these Maverick station wagons were built by a Brazilian Ford dealer as the factory did not make them. when the first Mavericks were made there they had a Willy's 184 ci six in them. The type of engine that had the intake valve in the head and the exhaust valve in the block. That was replaced by the 2.3L SOHC four cylinder and 302's were used also.

Re: One you won't find in the Guide...
You should try getting a 1966 Malibu SS 283 4 speed car through tech.

Re: One you won't find in the Guide...
Mark,
It must have been in the guide sometime....a long time ago. Is that tow bar tabs I see below the front bumper? |

Recently NHRA allowed Stock to go back to 55 again (from 1960), but they didn't put the old cars back in the books. The only pre 60 cars in the guide are Caddys and Chevys...I never saw a 56 Caddy running in Jr. Stock . I use my 56 to promote my events at the local shows and cruise nights..It's supposed to give the appearance of a late 60's Jr Stocker. Apparently my plan is working ;-) |
