Kyle Ratcliff Crash
 

Stock driver Kyle Ratcliff, Denton, TX, was transported for medical evaluation after his car went out of control at the finish line during the first round of eliminations at the NHRA South Central Division Showdown at Sundown at Royal Purple Raceway Sunday morning.
Ratcliff's '98 Pontiac Trans Am, racing in the left lane, went sharply to the left after crossing the finish line, making hard contact with the left wall before coming to a stop against the right wall.

Ratcliff's opponent, Slate Cummings, Ponchatoula, LA, was not involved in the accident. I hope Kyle is ok. Tom

Just announced at the track that he wanted to know his reaction time and how bad was the car! Sounds like everything is checking out fine! Great news!

I hope he is ok. At first i thought it was a joke after reading all the previous posts. Maybe it was caused by left over jet fuel from last nights run.

Wish this was another humorous Ratcliff thread but no such luck.
I just got a call from Kyle's dad Pete and he said Kyle has several broken ribs, a deflated lung, and will stay in the hospital at least overnight. Going to be very sore for a while. Fortunately he has a great family and racing family to help him through this mess.

Get well soon Kyle. I hope you have a "lazyboy" recliner cause you will need it. I broke 3 ribs, fractured 2 and punctured a lung 10years ago quadracing and that was the only i could sleep and rest for a good 3 weeks. And it was hell trying to climb into my racecar through the cage.

Hey everyone, I just spoke to Kyle on the phone from the hospital and he seems to be in good spirits and hopes to be released tomorrow. As much as he likes a good laugh he has asked to keep the comedy train at the station for a couple of weeks as he has a lot of pain with the six broken ribs and damaged lung so laughing isn't an option right now.

He also wanted to assure everybody that no animals were harmed in the crash.

Having broken most of my ribs at different times, and several of them more than once, I can understand his sincere desire to avoid laughing. The mere thought of laughing, coughing, or sneezing can bring tears to your eyes when you have broken ribs. Glad he is doing okay and going home soon.

I think I am going to live. I can remember pretty much all of the race and hitting the wall then it was lights out. My chest and ribs hurt pretty good, but nothing like it did when they laid me on the ground and tried to stretch me out. I thought I was going to come unhinged then they gave me a shot of the feel good juice. It was at that moment I could have fell in love with one of them. I must have expressed my feelings to the Life Flight crew because they put "Romeo1974" on my wrist tag and that is how I was registered at the hospital.

There are six broken ribs on the left side and two are clean breaks. My lung was partially collapsed, but that has been expanded back by the inconsiderate Pedigo therapy. He had the gift shop nurse deliver me a stuffed lamb. She was laughing at delivery and had the audacity to make me sign for it.

That's the last RIP thread I start. This karma crap is for the birds.

Hey Pedigo....

Keeping the comedy train in the station I guess doesn't stop the sending of stuffed animals to be personally delivered by the nurse.....who's laughing hystericly when she delivers..... Damn, you're mean ...... LOL!
