Shocked!!!!

I just looked at the qualifying sheet for Atlanta and noticed there is not a single stick shift car on the list. It has probably happened before, but it is a shock to me.

Dwight,

The real shock is there are no super stock cars there at all. What a shame

Yes Dwight, it hurts to see that, but I don't think it is a trend as there are some racers in the Northeast that actually have built stick cars or switched back to a stick. Todd Bednaz and Bob Vogel have both changed their cars to sticks in the last year or 2.

We need only to look at the Div and world champioships the have been won by stick cars to be reminded how good we can be.

let's see, Helms, Peters, anyone heard those names or been beat by them ?

Not to mention Jim Waldo, John Calvert, Jim Hughes, and Don Keen. No doubt this only scratches the surface.

Shell shocked you mean!! To heck with the tranny! Look at that bunch of tree rip'n, back half drive'n racers going into the second round.

Dave Casey 04-27-2007 03:17 PM

Good list Chuck, I am sure there are more.

John Kelley 04-27-2007 03:38 PM

How about the fact only 56 cars came? or were allowed to come.

Dwight,
The Stick cars are still out there. Take a look at S/ SS qualifying @ Great Bend Div. 5 Pts race.
looks like 7 out of 30 SS cars & 7 out of 50 stockers are sticks.

You're right Adger. The Division 5 guys love their stick cars. I bought the Mustang because Rick wanted a stick car. Amazingly enough, when I talked to the seller in Louisiana about selling the Mustang, he'd had four calls on it. One was from California, and the other three were from South Dakota.

I think several people have misunderstood the intent of my original post. I don't feel that stick cars are a dying breed and I am not scolding anybody that owns one for not showing up at Atlanta. I was just surprised that no stick car is in the line up. Statistics prove that stick cars win more races for the number of cars/rounds raced.
