Stockers entered in Super Stock

I have seen this more in the past few years now,if stock is a eliminator at a event why do some stockers enter in SS.Purse money the same, contingency money also. if you draw a heads up with a natural SS tough to advance to next round.

Love the way some folks like to stir the pot...LOL

If you don't like to give big spots this is one way around it.

Re: Stockers entered in Super Stock

I believe that most of those cross dressers fall into stock classes that are now populated with the new factory racecars and can no longer compete. Fewer cars in SS, very diversified class with not many head up races relative to stock.

Because they can..They are fast stockers

Re: Stockers entered in Super Stock

I think it because of the rule changes in recent years. Stockers are not stockers. They are much closer to S/S.

For some the quota may have been full when trying to enter as well. Pomona is typically pretty fast so ditto to what Mark said for some there.

Are you allowed to double enter a stocker and run both stock and ss?

Good question Sleeping in may be the correct answer...

And, if they would put mufflers on the stockers we could get a few more winks. LOL

No, only double entry deal I know about is in D2 where you can enter a car in a regular class and also run their 10.0, 11.0, and 12.0 index classes. I've seen a few stockers do it but never a SS car.

Yea. When I see an LT1 Stocker entered in SS, I want to go give them a hug. :-)

Fear of teardown.

I ran SS a couple of times. O'Malley pointed one of them big hands at me with an equally big finger and told me to 'get the ---- out of SS and go back with where I belong' so I did. Always trying to help.

Jeff, that boy does have some hands on him doesn't he?
Wonder if what they say about that is true? Never mind. I don't really want to know. LOL

Sorry about that. It was a bit cold. I would even be ok with it as long as it wasn't a full frontal.

You may be pushing for a stock /superstock combo in the future by doing this.Since some of you cross over it may just give them an idea to do that very thing ...That would be a can of worms for sure...

Re: Stockers entered in Super Stock

Because they can.

In 2008, I had a gold card, so I ran my crate motor car in Stock, and drove Johnny Fisher's Mirada in Super Stock. Finished 6th in the world in Super Stock. Brian Rowe won a couple in Richie DeCola's stocker Camaro that year too. I told him they were going to come up with *minimum* tire width rule! :p

Didn't always work... Super Stock was first out each day at the Columbus LODRS last year! Had rain coming into the weekend. After prep, I was *the* first car down the track. 2nd best 60' since we backhalfed the car. -=thumbs up=-

Yep, and they will be getting rid of S/SS any day now ...

They can run a ported head class where they belong.

Re: Stockers entered in Super Stock

Sometimes it's easier to qualify in SS then it is in Stock depending on who showed up and how many can run/will run further under the index. Sometimes if there was a lot of people running the combo in stock and few running it in SS the factor maybe more appealing that hasn't had as many/any at all HP hits.

Where do you have to qualify besides Indy? And to do it there you better have one fast stocker...or a Wong combo.

Someone slept to long and the quota in stock was full and only SS was open-there is a new twist on the sleeping late answer.

My "U" cars dont have a place in super stock so go easy on me! I would go SS/PA with the truck but they wont let me.

Re: Stockers entered in Super Stock

A lot of super stockers came from stock, you take a stocker and start porting, changing the valvetrain, add a transbrake, bigger tires, etc. And there is the part about sleeping a little later...

Re: Stockers entered in Super Stock

Sleeping late is nice, but that little twinge of a 'headache' early makes your reaction good, or maybe not, depending on the twinge size.
