E-Town S/SS Combo
Looked over the Raceway Park Drag Racing Schedule for 2013 yesterday.
There will be a Stock / Super Stock Combo on May 12 (Sunday) From what I hear the track is being prepared very well. Things have changed. Will be a good race. |
Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
Sounds Good......
|
Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
I will be there to watch and help support this race. Maybe if they get a good turn out they will have more races.
|
Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
well, if in fact this race is run as scheduled ,we as racers must support it or learn not to complain , i would think if this is a success etown mgmt would look to do more, would be a great idea to advertise it around the area

Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
This is Mother's Day, hope it doesn't interfere with people's plans.
|
Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
I applaud etown, but this will be the second time Etown plans an excellent event on the wrong date and expects good car count. Mothers day is not the best day for racing, IMO.

Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
I understand this is a tough date to have a race but, as of this time, this is the only date we can fit a S/SS event on. It should be a great day of racing and we welcome all of you to come on out.

Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
Maybe all the moms should get a shot in the seat! :D :p
|
Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
I get to do what I want on Fathers Day but Mothers Day ???? That could be a problem !!!!
|
Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
Sunday Race day...my family knows better..
|
Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
let the wives in for free
|
Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
Let the mothers tech in the cars. That could get interesting.
|
Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
Unfortunately, this is what the E-Town bracket racers have had to deal with for years. Historically, about 1/3 of the points days fall on a holiday...
I guess with scheduling, and trying to miss all the other races, there are only so many days available. |
Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
in the past that is what they have done on mother day all ladies get in to spectate for free.
|
Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
Why not run this race one day earlier? You could race well into the night, and get home for Mother's Day. Easter Sunday and Mother's Day have been off limits for many reasons!

Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
I just looked at E-town's schedule and it seems like they have less "Noise" days than in the past. If I'm not mistaken they had both "Night Of Thrills" and the "Jet Car / Pro Mod Nationals", now its just "Night of Thrills".
So it sucks that they can't find more time or a better date for a combo race. But looking at the bright side of things, as Stk / SS racers here in the Northeast we already have plenty of options between divisionals, nationals, ECSSA, ASRA, and the IHRA. That or nothing says you can't go bracket racing every now and then. One lousy date that doesn't even count for points in any organization won't kill your year if you can't make it. |

Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
Good news guys!
The event will now be on Oct 27. We understand Mothers Day is a hard day to race on so fortunately we found a spot on October and it should be much better for everyone. Ill update here when the date gets closer. Also, I did not forget about the Super Comp/Gas/Street guys and will try to do something for you as well. Thank you, |

Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
John,
Why move the date because a few people on Class Racer complain? You can't please everyone. I would bet they are not the majority and you may want to ask around a bit more. Could you accommodate everyone and have two events? One in May, one in Oct? I prefer the original May 12th date. You wont see me in October. Ask Dave Ley what the history is for S/SS races at Englishtown late in the year... I don't think we've ever had a race run to completion. One time, we didn't even make it to the burnout box... In any case, what would the run format be? Will it be one time shot and right into first round like the regular Sunday program? Good luck this year. I hope you can turn the place around. Dave |
Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
John,
No matter what you do you're not going to make everyone happy with the date. Trust me I've had a few e-mails about the Numidia event being on top of Charlotte National, but there is nothing I can do about it. The schedule this year in D-1 and other Divisions is tough and as Dave Ley and Myself have said "God help if we get r--n". Rob |
Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
David I agree..As usual the internet racers have won.You guys its drag racing it happens on SUNDAYs ..wedding church moms day. mom will get over it....You want to race in freezing cold ..COMEON MAN..Wait till you guys see E-Town in October..NO TIME IDIOT RACING...BRing speedy dry...As bad a alcohol or worst,,u been warned..John dont be bullied ..You got to be strong..

Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
This is really ridiculous.
Either you can make the race or not. If a greeting card holiday messes up your racing schedule, try being self employed with no employees! If you want to race you have to work....... 7 days a week!  :p |
Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
2/26/13.
We WILL have a Stock/SS combo race on BOTH days. The May 12 date will take place and we will also have one on Oct 27, which Dave Ley will be involved with. If you can make the Mothers Day race we will love to have you guys but if that date wont work, there is the Oct date but both dates will happen. Thanks guys and lets race and have fun! |
Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
The race at the end of October will be hard to finish if the weather is cold. As soon as it gets cold at Etown, all the Fast and Furious wanna be's will be out blowing all their stuff up and we will be sitting in staging lanes waiting to race. I know John for a while now, he is going to to the best he can to get us races. I think there is a better chance of finishing the race on mothers day, and having a safer track then at the end of October. Even if it is not the perfect date the first go around, I'm sure with some attendance we can get more. Getting a combo race back here again is a great start.
What about having it on a Wednesday night when there is not a gamblers race? Sometime in the summer when the attendance is down? Just an idea |
Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
Todd,
Thats not a bad idea and I will see what can be done about it but we will finish these races. Test and Tune can be tough, we know, but it is an important part of the tracks program but we can and will finish this race. If we have to cut into TNT to finish we will do that. |
Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
Not sure this was asked..are Pure Stockers allowed?
|
Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
I really applaud your spunk towards a very hostile crowd........lol
I know you will turn E-town around & it all can't happen overnite. The thing with the late Oct. race is: I raced at Atco the 2nd week in November & it was All Good There, so why would E-town be any different ?? As long as John keeps the maintainence up for the starting line, we all should prosper. Let's try to keep this facility around for us S/SS Racers & Help Support These 2 Races. My .03 cents |
Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
John,
I'd be more willing to help out in any way if you have a SC or SST race also as I run MASCA & MASSA. Also would not throw away the idea of having a MASCA / MASSA race at ETown in 2014. Rob keister |
Re: E-Town S/SS Combo
you would have to ask Dave Ley. I've seen IHRA class cars at the ECSSA races, not sure about any in Pure Stock. If I had to guess it would have to be a car that competed in an sanctioned race. Not a rent a car or a daly driver. Dave would be the guy to ask about that
