Big congrats to Tim Sloan and Sloan Racing Engines. Sloan customers swept Stock Eliminator titles at all the Div. 9 races this year! Tim was talking about doing some kind of bonus for a Sloan customer to win at Darlington.

Great job to Scott Macy -- coolest part was seeing the other Volare going for the sky out of the corner of my eye as we left.

Congrats DW, Jr., Danny Stanton (SS Win) and Robert Bullard (SS R/U... didn't take long to get the new car figured out!)

Thanks Danny for the congrats! We had a real nice time at Kinston this weekend - it was a nice little "vacation". Special thanks to Tim, Shelia and Hillarey Sloan for their support this weekend - we wouldn't have any other engine builder.

I hadn't ever been to Kinston and it had been probably 9 years since Scott had. It's a nice little track. We enjoyed the lake on the tower side - Max and I took a little dip in it on Saturday http://www.classracer.com/html/happy.gif

Michael - do you know what Volare means in Spanish??? "It will FLY!"

Dan Bennett 06-18-2007 10:15 AM

Last weekend was my first trip to KDS and I was fortunate that Summit chose to send me there to cover the race on Drag Race Central.

It was great watching the action from a lot of the people I see posting here. Hailing from the Midwest, I don't get to see a lot of the southeastern cars and the Stock and Super Stock fields were excellent.

I can't say enough about the dragstrip and its staff. Though lots of tracks have a bunch more dollars poured into them, I haven't found one yet with the great atmosphere, friendly people, and dedication to great racing that I found at Kinston.

A lot of the staff at the megatracks would do well to take a trip there and find out how drag racing is supposed to be - professionally run but FUN!

Thanks for your hard work over the weekend, Dan. And for help in directing me to find race fuel! ;-)

Hmm... better marketing than "Nova", isn't it? ;-) That final round pic should look pretty cool in the magazine.

Michael - was that you?? LOL

Where I was set up I was the first person someone entering the tower would see. That got me fielding questions about all sorts of things that I had no idea about...

I think at the time I was trying to figure out what to do with a car number I had that seemed to come out of nowhere. Sorry if I wasn't too congenial at the time, and I sure hope I wasn't rude.

I saw your name as I was doing the classes and wanted to stop by and see you, but it never worked out. When we're not connected directly to the clocks, it takes a lot of typing and entry.

Thanks to all for the welcome and the kind words. Hope to see all of you down the road somewhere.

It was kinda neat seeing two Volares in the finals. Dad is very proud of how great all of his customers have been doing this year. He is going to do some sort of bonus at Darlington if one of his customers wins the race. Not sure what yet, but I will let you know as soon as we decide. So far he has had engine customers in every final round in Division 9 and winners in all but one race. He wants to give some incentive to try keep it that way. Congratulations to those who have won/ru, and good luck to everyone at Darlington.... =)

Congrats Scott....excellent driving....and I must agree with you that it's a
"nice car" See you soon.

No, not at all! I've done your job before, doing round-by-round by hand for Maple Grove Raceway's website one year. Better yet, I had to read the announcer's screen monitor over Larry Sullivan's shoulder from the second row! LOL Also used to hand format IHRA Nat'l event results I received from Larry for their website before they got that automated. (Talk about killing a weekend!) It gives me a particular appreciation for the work y'all do.

I knew you weren't the guy to ask questions of, but figured that someone in that room could direct me if I hollered, "Where can a guy get fuel around here?" I hadn't seen anybody at the pumps the whole day. It was like 3rd or 4th round, and I don't think I was making another lap with what I had in the tank!
