"Live" from Jegs Northern Sportsnationals 2012
We are not there yet! We are on our way from the North Carolina coast headed to Columbus, OH. We are in Beckley, WV tonight at a Walmart. Larry has to look at some equipment on our way, so we won't be there until late Thursday. Tell me does'nt Pilot Mountain look like a Nipple? There is a great B&B at the base of it called Pilot Knobb Inn. There is also a road you can take up there with a trail that goes all the way to the nipple. Chip |

Larry , i saw you all today going through Kinston..I was wondering who that was . I thought someone had been to Bud Rowes race shop ..........Look up my son ( Danny Jr ) while at sportsnational ,he is running s/c and has Moser Engineering on the car .........He had to go by himself as i could not get off work this time......good luck to both of you..I know this would be asking a lot ,but i would like to see a pic of him there....If it means anything ,he used to run my stocker and his own superstocker last year.........Thanks in advance...

beautiful thursday morning at the track, ready for testing i did have to wear light carhart coat this morning, got woke up as rigs where coming in cause Im not in my normal spot down in the hole, im with the "Over the hill Ohio gang" in our compound for the weekend as this is the last race for Rich's Pontiac before going to the new owner. (2013 Super Stock Camaro is newest project)

We are finally here and parked. It sprinkled rain just a little just before we got here, but it is fine here now. We got parked just before it got dark. Looks like it is filling up pretty well now. I will be better able to see tomorrow. I don't think we start racing until 10. I took a few pics on the way up that I will post later.

Well right now it is a beautiful day here in Columbus. It is 62 and sunny. We are teched and ready to run!
Just saw Roger Weaver and Mrs. Roger and congratulated him on his Super Gas win at Indy! That was his first win ever! and what a great one to win! It is nice to see real sportsmen racers win! We are supposed to get 2 runs today, 1 in the morning, then class. The weather forecast is not looking real good for tonight and some of tomorrow, but Sunday looks great! So there shouldn't be any trouble getting the race in this weekend. I will try to get some pics today. Mike, the original schedule shows class tomorrow. I haven't seen a posted schedule here, but I will go down and check for you.
80 stockers made the first run. I don't know if DRC is here or not. There were lots of wrong classes put up, so it may take them a while to sort it out. |

Mike, I just checked the schedule for today and no class today. Just 2 runs for everyone. It is not even showing any clean-ups today.

It was nice to see lots of fans in the stands for the first run this morning. Lots of yellow Jegs caps! It looks like Jegs gave tickets to some local schools as there were lots of future drag racers watching to see how it is done! Oh, and on that note, Larry said this morning "You know you have an old car when someone comes by and wants to know what it is!" We had already been racing our car for 10 years or so whenever most of these kids were born!

92 cars made the 2nd pass in Stock. #1 is Jim Wong-er-Marshall -1.16
2. Bo Butner -1.15 3. Boburka -1.02 4.Richards -1.01 5. Randi Lyn Shipp -1.00 Others at the top--Witherspoon, Edwards, Wilkes. This is all very unofficial. I will try to get a qualifying sheet this afternoon. Other notes==Keith Lynch is driving his Camaro in Stock and is #1 qualifier in Super Stock in the MegaManiac. Jorge Canero is driving the Downing Farms station wagon. The weather is looking a little iffy for later this evening. I believe they moved up the schedule for comp, top dragster and top sportsmen. |

Well it has been a rainy night here in Columbus. I never did hear it raining very hard, but there are a few puddles this morning. It is about 60 degrees and not supposed to warm up much today. 64 for the high. It isn't raining right now, but I don't hear the track dryers going yet. Super street is supposed to run in 15 minutes and I haven't heard a race car running yet. I would imagine that we are going to be running a little behind today. The radar doesn't show any rain in the area now, but possible showers this afternoon and turning colder tonight. Low about 40! Should be fun dialing for first round in the morning!

Patty, The gentleman with the White firebird is Richard Mowat. He drives for Glen. Thank you for the pictures. It is always great to see everyone and all their cars. I hope someone is making a collection of all these photos for the future.

Well they just called super street up. They will start running in 20 minutes at 9. Then Stock first round of class. We lost our run this morning as did Super Stock since they will begin with class also. There are 8 A/SA cars if nobody else came in overnight. 10 B/SA. More later.

We just finished up 1st round of class. I think 100 cars went down this morning. We won the first round, but we have Bo Butner driving Irvan Johns car next, so so much for Class! It is windy and still only 60 degrees, so a little chilly today. They had to re-run stick combo because they did not handicap the start. It looked like we were running class like we used to with winners in both lanes! More later.

Sorry I haven't been posting all day. A/SA did use a ladder, but I think lots of other classes did not. I thought it was supposed to be used all the time now, so I don't know what happened. I had printed out the ladder for A/SA and they had no problems at all.
We just now ran the 2nd round of class. Between a little rain, wind, oildowns and a crash, the day has just drug out. Larry got beat by Bo Butner and it was really just a blowout. If something is not done to get these Mustangs factored correctly, there won't be any old cars left running--but I guess that is the way the Ford owned NHRA wants it! That car can run 9.60 easily and nobody can get close enough to make him go far enough under to get horsepower. I'm sure Gary Richards and Bo will have a deal in the finals so that they still won't go quick enough to get power. |
