I'm not on facebook but I took pics of S.E. Int'l in Dallas Ga. after it closed. The track was still there and the tower was trashed by vandals. There was still a tremendous pile of
liability disclaimer forms scatted all over the inside of the tower.

What ever happened to Warner Robbins Dragway and Camp Wheeler in Macon? Both were in Georgia.

Just had to add some more Vidalia Drag Strip, Vidalia, US 19 Albany, Claxton Speedway, Claxton, Augusta Drag Strip, Augusta and Savannah Drag Strip, Savannah which I understand is still open. All these were in Southest Georgia..

That be's it Mike. The year I went there on a visit my wife dropped me off and she and our friend went shopping.I'm hanging on the fence and look on the other side and there's an old blue Valiant wagon.I knew the car immediately. It was a bracket car from Lebanon Valley.I ran it at the Bracket Finals in the 1980s.It also was the original Cotton Picker of Cotton Owens.SE Intl. was the track where this car raced Petty's 43Jr and the 43Jr car rolled and killed a small boy in I think 1964 when NASCAR banned the hemis and some of these guys went drag racing.Boy I miss the "good old days".

Re: Lost and (not so) Forgotten Dragstrips

I pass old Vineland Speedway in Vineland, NJ everyday on the way to my Dad's house. The whole facility is still there and part of College Drive actually crosses over the old Dragstrip in which the Strip now ends at the end of the Soccer Fields where the college is. Everything is now guarded by the Cops so you can't get in and look around w/o permission but, the stands and oval track are still there. They have built a trailer park, hospital and college all on the grounds of the old speedway.
