What's it gonna take to win FS/S?
With everyone being hush hush about who's jumping into this class, what are the thoughts going around about the ET it's going to take to win. Do we think it's going to take a 8 second stocker????

Re: What's it gonna take to win FS/S?
I'm sure the Factory hot rods can run in the 8's, however, in the real world there is no such thing as an 8 second Stocker.

I understand ur pain but a race car that competes and follows the guide lines according to the NHRA rule are considered STOCK. So with that being said I truly believe that there is a such thing as an 8 second STOCKER. |

Skillman , Butner , Fezzel and Hollbrook can all run low 8.90 so I think who ever can run in the 8.80's will win

Thanks for your show of empathy, but please don't worry about me. FYI, the word bitter does not apply to me. You guys may think what ever you please but don't confuse candid language with bitterness. Many of us don't like what the OEM's and nhra have done to Stock but that does not mean any of us are going nuclear. You live with your thoughts and actions and we'll live with ours. Deal? |
Re: What's it gonna take to win FS/S?
Bruce,
I understand that you may be upset with NHRA but there is not much us sportsman racers can do with the deals that are made between them and the OEM's. We are just lucky enough that we can afford to buy the new stuff and race in the class that NHRA was allowed us to. Let's not forget that alot of that have the new stuff have races the old stuff as well. I drove my fathers 1969 Superbee with a 440 6pack and I promise we were the slowest C/SA in the country but we still showed up and raced. We now have earned a new bread of cars and as we raced the old cars we will race our new ones. I have been on somewhat of both ends of the stick. My father definantly has, considering he went to Indy, didn't qualify, and drove back to Louisiana. So I'm very happy to see that he can show up anywhere and make the show. Deal Bruce! |
Re: What's it gonna take to win FS/S?
Ok now y'all got that out of the way....i think 8.80s by butner. Wish we had a blower so we could come play, but at least i get to watch and race a bada** hemi in the eliminator. Joseph, i think y'all should run bb/sa. Leave cc/sa to us slow 6.1 guys. But we'll still have to deal with that darn 427. Oh well, Mayb we can push him into some hp.

Re: What's it gonna take to win FS/S?
Don't know if the CJs can get in the 8's at 3,675 lbs unless the air is unreal, and still maybe not then. I'm sure that we will find out!

Re: What's it gonna take to win FS/S?
David at this point im not sure where we gonna fit in. I dont think we will go into cc/sa and im not sure that yall are the "slow" guys in cc/sa. Yall run right there with us when we are in cc/sa.
Brett i hope we will be able to see just what them cj's can run. Us slow guys will have to find another class to run in. Our measly 9.26 passes arent enough. Hey if all the cj's enter into fs/s maybe i can be the fast guy in bb/sa...what ya think about that? Lol i cant wait to see how many of yall (cj's and copo's) will run in the 8's!! |

Brett, are you going to try FS/S?
|
Re: What's it gonna take to win FS/S?
Well, as Joey knows, because he spanked my tail heads up, (poor V10!) our CJ has never shown that kind of performance. Would be like going to a bazooka fight with a water pistol with what we know. With that being said those who know our boss, we may give it a whirl. Hoping to find some speed in ours and go try it.
3675 + lbs is a load to carry to get in the 8's! Would really be shocked without serious prime conditions. Would be ashamed not to have one of if not the quickest Dodge in it! Besides Joey, I see you guys are coming with a full on assault for SS/DA!!! Should be interesting! Brett Candies 4192 Stock/SS |
Re: What's it gonna take to win FS/S?
Bret that's a good one! Lol we didn't really spank your butt, you just had bracket mode set on the computer. We just snuck up and got pass ya. Lol
Well truth be said Mr. Durham said they have the fastest v10 so I'm not sure if we will be able to see the fastest Dodge. But with us being the 2nd fastest and yea we are bringing 5 cars total with 2 of them carrying v10's you never know what our plans are. Also I believe everyone knows my boss so........... Lol |
Re: What's it gonna take to win FS/S?
That was all we had brother! Would never give up a class race for "bracket mode"! And yeah, you spanked us!
Hopefully we can get that thing as fast as those V10's so we can play in the FS/S. You have my word, if we can get that quick, we'll be in it. Brett Candies 4192 Stock/SS |
Re: What's it gonna take to win FS/S?
Brett i hope yall can find what yall need to play in fs/s. We are in the same boat. If we can pick up some i believe we will play as well, if not i guess we will duke it out in bb/sa! Either way we will have a blast!!

We will be watching the 1000 ft time on live timing to see if that 3spd is worth as much as people think Your dad know I (we) really want to be there but with fall tuition and books and a job with B of A it is not just unlikely it is impossible - 4000 mile 10 day trip is prohibitive Go get em in whatever class you run |
Re: What's it gonna take to win FS/S?
Just remember your not racing time slips from all over the country. Indy is Indy in August a lot of humity actual Baro in the 29.30s to 29.40 not at sea level. In other words everybody on same track and same air the blowers cars have a advantage in making thier own Baro and air temp correction with the inter cooler.

Ralph , dont give them our secrets
|
Re: What's it gonna take to win FS/S?
I guess us Cajuns will have to bring our own Baro.....
