iPads At The Race Track?
I just got one of the new Apple iPads, and I was wondering how many other racers have them and take them to the track. What are some of your favorite uses for them and what apps are useful to you? I have had an iPhone for a while now and it has proven very valuable while at the track, sometimes being the only way I can communicate online. Jim

Re: iPads At The Race Track?
Jim,
The one I have for work is great for pictures, music, and Internet. The Jegs practice tree is free too. I have Verizon for the Internet, and have never had an issue with always having Internet service. I am sure there are more things than I am aware of, hopefully others will chime in and we can learn more. Take care Sean |
Re: iPads At The Race Track?
My favorite ap is my Kindle ap, can read, download a book whenever I want. We all know there is plenty of downtime at a racetrack, lots of time to read! ;-)
I get National Dragster online now so can always read the latest (or back) issues on my iPad. |

Re: iPads At The Race Track?
If you are new to the iPad use, you will need to have an iTune account to download the latest changes to your operating system. I do this on a weekly basis. There may not be any updates but if there is it will download them. I never go anywhere without it my iPad. The same goes for your iPhone and iPOD Touch.
Another neat little adapter is the one that you can load your camera SD into and download pics at the track into your iPad for a larger/better look at pictures vice the view port on your digital camera. It goes right into you charging port. It's called the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit for $29.00. |

Julie, I have the iBooks app and already have a few books on there. You are right, it will come in handy for reading at the track! Vic, I hadn't thought of the 1329go app! I will do that tonight. I have the Jegs practice tree app, Lord knows I need it! Jim . |

Re: iPads At The Race Track?
I use mine with the Radarscope app to keep track of any bad weather that may be coming and when. Saved my a-- a bunch of times. Gives you plenty of time to put away your stuff. There are some good FREE radar apps also.

Re: iPads At The Race Track?
Anybody know how I can piggyback my iPad with my internet connection on my iPhone? As I understand it, I can do this and not pay a monthly fee on the iPad? I already pay out about $325 on 2 iPhones per month!

I think you still need to pay a fee for tethering? See link below, hope this helps. Glenn http://www.ehow.com/info_8616014_ipa...tethering.html |
Re: iPads At The Race Track?
Jim, for shopping I have Amazon, eBay, and Craigslist (in that order) and they are all great apps. Flipboard is an app that compiles all of the reading that you've indicated you want to see into a single easy to use library, primarily the electronic news and social venues you've pegged. If you use Bank of America they have a great app for keeping up with banking while you're on the move and DirectTV has a good app for you to watch streaming TV on your iPad. There are many many others...you might even turn on "Genuis" in iTunes and and it will suggest others based on what you currently have.
