Re: Can You Adjust Your Dial After The Burnout?
If this procedure has changed, it's new to me. They may have changed the dial in error, not realizing that it wouldn't be changed by the tower officials because it was changed it too late.

Re: Can You Adjust Your Dial After The Burnout?
I was listening on the computer and it sounded as if he had one dial on the back window and another on the side window and they didn't match.

Re: Can You Adjust Your Dial After The Burnout?
Speaking of dial-ins,I'm guessing that the dial in was NOT supposed to be 11.17.Maybe 11.77?

Re: Can You Adjust Your Dial After The Burnout?
Talked to my Dad(Mike McGinley) and he said that Red(nhra official) had to go back to the pits and get Skillman after waiting on him to come to the lanes(forever!). Then the whole dial in deal, two diffrent ones, changing the dial(just more vip treatment by nhra) So after all the game playing and jacking around Skillman gos red! To bad money cant buy u a win or nhra would be selling those to!!! Btw Skillman had the first stage bulb on and the last time i checked that meens he accepted his dial in,but they still backed him out and changed it.The pair before my dad ran(my old buddy Chad Rhodes!!) got screwed also, they didnt back Chad out and ask him if he wanted to change his dial did they!!??

In case there is any question! I went to the tower and was told "you should have told the starter". Now I admit, that would have fixed the problem, but us racers have a million ways to lose on our own you'd think NHRA could refrain from being the cause of it. At a local bracket race is one thing, but these people are supposed to be professionals |
Re: Can You Adjust Your Dial After The Burnout?
mike mcginley is one of div 3 most respected racers... and he is very nice individual the dial in deal is nothing to him , he is very cool on the tree and you will never meet a more polite person , do not miss understand me.. if you race him you have your hands full both on tree and at the other end of the track

This is why I dont race nhra events anymore they never take responsibility for anything that happens,it's allways our faught some how,
got screwed two week's in a row that was it for me. |
Re: Can You Adjust Your Dial After The Burnout?
Most every track I`ve been to gives you the lower of two dial ins on the windows. Allowing a racer to change that late is complete bs.

Wow - The legend himself! Not too many people know this, but the guy on the right was one of the head wrench turners for Sox & Martin back in the day. If Stock is a direct descendant of the firt Pro Stock cars, this guy is the Godfather of Stock!

Re: Can You Adjust Your Dial After The Burnout?
When you leave the stageing lanes, the tower takes your dial, it's on the left side of the car at Gainesville. If the racer has two dials, he should be tossed. Also, it's the drivers responcibilty to look at dial board and the score board to make sure the dial is correct. I was at Gainesville, my dial was wrong, I blew my horn at starter,BTW, that's why Rick Stewart hated Stockers. He just about jumped over the tree when I did that to him. It's the drivers responcibility for all matters relating to his dial.

I haven't raced at Gainesville since '98, but isn't the tower on the left as you leave the staging lanes? -Toby |
Re: Can You Adjust Your Dial After The Burnout?
Toby, I corrected it, I'm getting old, I've only raced there about 100 times.
