Had an M2000 open but for no logical reason I had to update so bought a SA full face. Tried it on once and pretty much hate it. Going to take some getting used to but by then it will likely be expired.

If I had an 11 sec. or quicker car, then I may see the need for a full face helmet. However since my car runs 15's, I don't so I'll continue using my M rated open face helmet.

Yup, 'cause everyone knows you can't get hurt in a 15 second, 85mph car that has stock seat belts and no roll bar. Yup. Jim

In the event that a 4000# 145 mph car goes THROUGH my Turismo, I don't think I stand a chance no matter what I'm wearing. But that's a different topic.

Bones and muscles recover, usually. Brains seldom do. I'd rather be "too safe" than "not safe enough." As the car is flipping, it is too late to pay the extra for a better helmet. . .

For the record I absolutely hate my full face helmet, thinking about going back to an open face helmet.

Personal "confinement" anxieties !.... NO WAY could I function with a full face helmet. Too hot, too tight, no visibility, obstructs clear breathing, and further inhibits hearing.
Just can't do it.
I am a very poor racer, mostly BECAUSE I get disoriented with the damn helmet on !

SA2005 open, I've tried wearing a full face too, can't wear my glasses without them steaming up.:rolleyes:

I've never said that Jim, because I know it's unrealistic to think that. However, there are many things that are not mandated on cars like mine, and thus if I don't need to have it, I won't. I sure love how a former fwd'er who now has joined the ranks of the faster half of the class thinks I should have the same safety equipment that the faster cars have, just because you have to have them...if the rules don't mandate it, then I'm not spending my money on it, that simple.

You know I've seen a lot of things that have enhanced the capabilities of faster class cars being allowed on them (that weren't in decades past), while little to nothing has been done to benefit the slower rollers (and fwd stockers), so enjoy your faster car, Jim. I race what I can afford, plus when I do win with this car, it'll have more meaning to it given only two racers have made either the stock national or divisional winners circle (speaking NHRA only since I don't know if Mike Beard or any other fwd racer has done this in the IHRA). I'll take the road less traveled thank you very much!!!

No Bob we don't, however I've yet to run against a 9sec stocker anyway. Every car I've had to line up next to (so far) has been a 10 sec. or slower roller. Besides, if their cars safety equipment matches their performance (they shouldn't be on the track if it doesn't), then they should stay in their own lane, as I have been in mine...no harm, no foul.

Hmmm,
Slow bracket cars don't even need a helmet, That must cause sleepless nights for you uber safety guys.

It really wouldn't be a bad idea to wear a helmet if you are ever driving on I-90 in the Chicago area.

I didn't say anything about a hat (especially one like that), but I'll consider the source of your comment. You know Ed, I think you need a vacation from New Jersey, I think being that close to Snookie has warped your mind...or maybe it's that blowhard governor of yours who's good at tough talking, but given the state of your states economy, his actions have shown me "Jack Squat"....I guess you two are meant to be neighbors. Oh, and as for my (as you called it) "rocket car" (I never said that, but given your also being a neighbor to that other blowhard Rush), I'll have you know that I won my first race of the year (even though it was an import theme'd race), the bracket final was an ALL-AMERICAN shootout between my Chevy, and a Dodge Neon SRT!
