some images with captions from the shootout....

He blistered the track in his first qualifier with an 8.99et! http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/...L/P1000941.jpg In the staging lanes Chris Agee in his 2010 Cobra Jet, and Ron Matchum in the Quality Blow Molding Cobra Jet get ready to start off the weekend's qualifying for the Cobra Jet Showdown. http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/...L/P1000938.jpg Class sponsor Jacky Jones Ford has Fritz Hammerstein on hand with the last of their 2012 Cobra Jet's. These cars are becoming increasingly rare and with the performance we're seeing at the track I'm guessing this one won't last long. http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/...L/P1000937.jpg another division one contender not to be trifled with, Gary Richards and his PC Richards Cobra Jet's are lined up ready to go. Gary is the sole driver this weekend and has elected to run his Tilburg Racing Engine's 428-powered 2010 Cobra Jet. Like the Micro Systems and Tasca car, the PC Richards team looks to B&B Racecars to tune up their suspension. http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/...L/P1000935.jpg Carl Tasca's been getting ready for the sevens this weekend in competition by blasting of a 7.96et earlier this week. Carl is still getting the bugs worked out of his new B&B Racecars 4-link but if we're lucky we'll see another 7-second pass this weekend. http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/...L/P1000931.jpg Here's the Hawk and Cook 428 in all it's glory. |

http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/...L/P1000930.jpg The Hawk and Cook 2010 428-powered Cobra Jet is truly a showcar that races. The paint and attention to detail is amazing, as is this A/Stock monsters ability to run well under the index. http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/...L/P1000921.jpg Chris Agee's 2010 and 2012 Cobra Jet's powered by the 5.4L with 4.0L Whipple. http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/...L/P1000920.jpg Jacky Jones and Chris Agee teamed up to recreate a 1968 Cobra Jet. The car is stunning and we may see an exhibition pass against Carl Tasca's 2010 Cobra Jet this weekend. http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/...0FL/photo1.jpg Ladder for cj showdown. Eleven cars made the trip. One broke during qualifying. The 428 cars went 1 and 2. We saw the first eight second pass in a 5.4 stocker by Bo Butner. Carl Tasca went 8.30 which qualified him six. The qualifying is based on how far they go under their nhra index. |

A big thank you to YOU Chirs.....I am so excited for Dad and them. So deserving but couldn't be the car it is with the help of so many and you being one for your great engine Sharon Cook McKinney (Eddie's daughter) |
Re: cobra jet showdown
The Hawk and Cook car looks great when is sets down from a wheel stand. I'm looking forward to seeing the car in person next week.

Re: cobra jet showdown
Great video !
Only 2 Coyote Stock racers running there this weekend. Video starting @ :59 shows them both. Sounds like Joe Charles (black 86 Coupe) missed his top end shift and that Coyote 5.0 was bouncing off the limiter. |
Re: cobra jet showdown
Thanks for posting the great video and sure looks like the weather was great .
