Re: Mopar Got Heads
Looks like Cotten's 383" get them? Just great, it already had 35 hp taken off.

Re: Mopar Got Heads
I think that 60917 might be a misprint. I don't see that number in the Edlebrock site, but 60919 is there and it is a 84 cc bare head which might be right. Course you gotta install the small valves 2.08/1.74 3/8 stem, but I guess you can get the cc's down to 79.5. I think the rule is the heads are allowed, but the valves, chamber etc gotta be right. Travis, I know you read this, how about a clarification here or maybe Tuesday Tech. Also the Eddys have angled plugs, so they might not clear your headers, but the Mopar 452A has straight plug and will fit. The rest of the head is the same, assuming the 60919 is the head intended. Re: Mopar Got Heads
Somebody tell me how this works: if I have a 1964 383 with closed chambered heads and now I can run the alum. 452's.......how do I get my compression back without having the NHRA changing the piston choice for the closed chambered motors?

Re: Mopar Got Heads
We have the Edel. Heads on a bunch for our Bracket Stuff.......Routinely down to 75 CC. The spec is 73 on the Early Head I think and should be
no sweat to make them that Jim. I think early 383 are neg deck flattop so should be fine on piston to head. Later ones (68-69) with positive deck might have to give up a little on deck or run thicker than spec Gasket...., but should be only 010-015 at most. Piston to valve might be a little tuff with no valve relief (As in Sink your valves a bunch).....If you need more info Jim PM me I know the fix. PS: Doing much Better!! |

Re: Mopar Got Heads
Jeff.....the Edelbrock 60917 must be correct because they are listed in Summit's website and they describe them as having straight plugs.....

Re: Mopar Got Heads
60917 is the correct number for the Edelbrock heads and they have straight plugs as OEM.
Thanks NHRA!! |
Re: Mopar Got Heads
Has Eddy made any yet? We asked them (we are a dealer) and they said no.

Re: Mopar Got Heads
Edelbrock made the changes to the performer casting to suit NHRA. They will be straight plug And closed chamber. With the correct valve you can bring them to 69 cc with no problem. They will accommodate all of the combos with ease.
I have an order for 10 pairs,Edelbrock is going to let me know by friday as to when they will start production, i wil let you guys know what they say. Erik Jones Jones Engine Development www.jonesenginedevelopment.com |
Re: Mopar Got Heads
This should get interesting, any idea what the 60917 casting is going to cost Erik?

Re: Mopar Got Heads
It looks like they will be legal for the 1964 MW engines as well as they are listed in the 1964 Plymouth classification guide. I didn't see them listed in the 1964 or 1969 Engine Blueprint specs for Chrysler engines. Maybe NHRA hasn't updated the engine specs yet to match the classification guides?
I would think the Edelbrock Victor head with MW ports would be a better match for the MW head replacement than the RPM head. |
