What the Heck, My Entry

Well gents, and Ladies

I entered the AlwaysaChampion contest with my Drag Pak #2009064
on or about Day 1. The entry has been on page 1 of "Oldest Entries" since Day 1.

To date the entry is holding it's own in the top 30 across the board.

Although a lifelong Stock and Super Stock fan, I am totally new to class racing and 2012 will be our debut year in Division 6 in Stock Eliminator. It was the advent of the Factory Cars that brought me here. Race to the end!!

For those that may be interested, here is a link to the beginning of my build photo album; http://www3.telus.net/prash/
This is my converted carport where ALL THE WORK was done.

Here is a link to my somewhat crappy cellphone video(hey, it's all we had and my first day out(won the first round as well)) entry at Always a Champion;

http://contest.alwaysachampion.com/c...owentry/962002

Crank up the volume the sound is great!

The viewing and registered voting can be done DAILY. Any and all acknowledgement to our effort will be greatly appreciated.

I will take another moment to thank Mike Pustelny of MPR Racecars for his outstanding contribution towards my getting this car RIGHT, and to John Vineyard for delivering this car to ME!

Thanks to All

Peter Ash

Peter isn't the kind of guy to mention it....but for those of you that don't know him, all the work Peter has done on this car and his AAR was done from a wheelchair, in a tiny shop.

(Quote Hemimoose)Now that's very impressive, my hats off to you...can you tell us a little about the motor(end quote)

It's stock with a fullrace cam and tubular headers. ( chuckle)

Now for real:, The ENGINE - 6.4L Fresh Block, Crankshaft, Manley Connecting rods, Diamond Pistons, Total Seal Gapless Rings, Comp Cam (Custom Grind), Stock Milodon Oil Pan (8 qt.), MR2 Performance (Mike Roth) Step/ Merge /Stainless Steel Headers, Ati Balancer, BigStuff3 EMS cw Crank Trigger. Drag Pak Intake Manifold and Throttle Body.
MPR Alternator Mount kit, Aeromotive Fuel System Components.

Stripped the original 6.1l engine to the short block and freighted all the peripheral componets to Jeff Taylor.

Built to N.H.R.A. Specifications and Tuned by Jeff Taylor at Jeff Taylor Performance , Sellersburg, Indiana. Hi Jeff and Patty! Thanks for your patience! (with me and my engine shipping)!

Thanks for the additional info on the Hemi motor...so you're not running a 3/4 race cam, traction bars, or air shocks, huh...be sure to get some thrush mufflers if you ever drive it on the street though, lol :D

I told Peter to use Purple Hornies or Cherry Bomb's. Thrush mufflers rust out too fast from all the salt on the roads during winter driving. :D

Hi Peter, cool car, but I gotta ask, are those racing photos taken at the Port Alberni (B.C.)Airport drags?? If so, it certainly seems to work well, especially for a blacktop "track" that sees cars on it only one weekend a year. Are you from the Island?

Glad to hear it runs good, you are making us (Jeff Taylor Performance) look good.

Don, don't be giving away all my advantages, eh.

Rory, yes these photos are taken at "Thunder in the Valley 2011".

Island boy for sure, eh.

I hope you can drop a daily vote and/or video run for my entry.

Re: What the Heck, My Entry

I noticed this thread had kind of fallen off the face of the earth! Just to maybe give it a second wind--Peter's efforts to field this car are quite remarkable considering he is an unknown guy living on an island on the west coast of Canada. Think how difficult it would be to build any racecar without a collection of "contacts", then once you get the car done, have to take a two hour ferry boat ride before you can drive to the nearest dragstrip. A lot of racers bemoan the demise of the small grassroots racer, now is the chance to help support what is truly an example of a racer the way it was. Thanks

Again, I wish to offer thanks to everyone here for supporting this entry at the Alwaysachampion - Search for a Champion 2012 Sponsorship Competition.

I also wish to thank all those that supported my build (as mentioned previously "a homebuilt backyardigan build") !

While pursuing this competition from it's very first day and with your generous help you have kept my entry in the lead of the Class Car entries and at or near the top 20 overall of the Asphalt category entries from day 1.

Currently our Class Car entry is holding 19 th place in the available subcategories(oldest entry/most views/most comments) of the Asphalt Category . The only drag racer ahead of us is a nostalgia rail. The rest are oval track cars of one sort or another.

As a further reminder, for continued support of this entry, you may go to this link

http://contest.alwaysachampion.com/c...owentry/962002

and vote once a day, a possible 4 more times before midnight EST., Sunday February 5. And possibly put this Class Car on the podium!

Many, Many, Thanks for your continued support and your patience!

Peter Ash

Great looking car, Peter, hope to see you at a few of the divisionals later this year.
As far as the Canucks go, ignore Ed, he doesn't know any better.
