If you are building a new car Im sure all the guys here on Classracer would love to hear about them and see some pictures. I know I would.

Kinda New,, We converted our 70 Challenger from a 440, D/SA car to a 383, SS/JA car. Steve Wann Power plant. converter,trans, headers, still need to install wheelie bars and its ready to test, should be fun.

I plan on putting the finishing touches on my 95 GT Pure Stocker before spring.

I also am working on a 1991 Mustang Coupe that is designed to be legal for Stock or Crate motor but still allow me to put a lower HP SS engine in it and run with a small tire setup in GT/K, L, or M.
I'd probably go with the '68 Mercury 302. Not sure yet. There are lots of choices.

At the risk of everybody going off on me (because it seems you folks hate these cars) I will admit I want to run my 2011 Drag Pak Challenger in Super Stock once or twice next year. I've never run in Super Stock before (or any NHRA class) so I thought it might be fun to try it. I've never had a class legal car so I figured it would be now or never. All I've done before is bracket raced. Jerry Bickel is putting tubs in for me now and I hope to go to Florida in January to get my license.

Got a couple in the works at the shop. 67 C/SA mustang 390 combo for a current ford class racer lookin to go a little faster. and a D/SA chevy combo that has some room in it! both cars will be hittin the track in the next month or two... puttin them on our chassis dyno first. gonna be a fun year. Also tryin to convince one of my techs to drag his 78 volare wagon out and go class racin! He is still on the fence

Think the issue is more with the NHRA and classification than the DP car itself. A new player is always welcome, have fun and be safe.

I'm freshening a '66 Coronet sedan to run in Super Stock/Production, hoping to be out by the summer. The car ran Formula Stock years ago and has been off the track since the late-70's/early-80's. It has the same paint on it that it was last raced with, I'm going to leave it. I am updating the safety and suspension stuff currently.

We (my Dad and I) are building a '72 Duster so we can try to start class racing in 2012. The current goal is to get out bracket racing with a non-legal motor in the spring and then drop in a legal low comp 340 during the season. If that happens we'll probably run some East Coast S/SS events and maybe make it to a divisional...if not, 2013.

Ken Kopecky got us going in the right direction and gave me a lot of advice on buidling the car earlier this year. Tom Goldman did the chassis work over the summer and has been invaluable on setup tips. So far we've got the chassis, suspension, rear, brakes and fuel system done; working on wiring now and then we'll get the interior finished before putting the driveline in and completing final assembly. Stil need wheels, tires, headers and driveshaft, but we're getting close. It's gonna be tight with the work schedule, but we should be done sometime in February.

I'll post some pictures on the build in another thread after we get a little further along.

I bought another car to replace my 95 firebird stocker project that was destroyed last sping by our tornado. I am working on getting the body cleaned up and ready to paint and having cage installed. Then I just have to start switching over parts from the one that got crushed. I also have another firebird at Nebraska Chassis (chassis1 on here) getting a NHRA Super stock legal backhalf done. I doubt with my businesses being so busy I will be out with you guys this year but I am trying

Real shame about the one that was crushed. That was one really nice car. I took some parts to Eastexas Race Cars Friday. Mine's looking really good. Wish my TIG welding looked like Dewayne's. LOL

I'm in the process of putting together a 1970 350/250 two barrel combination to run in my former Stock Eliminator / NMCA Mean Street Nova to run in SS/MA. Hopefully we'll be out by the end of 2012.

After several years in development will we hit the track 2012 with our SS Viper (SS/D). Youngblood clutch, Jerico 4spd, PMR chassie, EED engine.
We are right now working with fuel system, midplate and fitting the transmission.

The stock Generation 2 V10 in my Viper is rated 425hp compared to the new Generation 4 V10 (Challenger) that is rated 450hp.

The S/SS Scene in Scandinavia is evolving, 2012 will we have about 6-10 new cars among them DP (V8 and V10), Cobra Jets (2010 and 12) and old Iron bougt from you guys.

I can't wait - I did a lot of research and thought about A/S in stock eliminator before I lost my mind and bought the V10 Dodge Challenger drag pak

I am sure there is a lot of potential

But first you have to build a car that is in the class guide. The car you're building is not.
I'm sure you'll get it figured out. Just do like you do in IHRA, Claim another year.

The Viper Generation 2 cylinder heads was a big challenge, but we have done what is possible with reasonable money. A Stock Viper Generation 4 cylinder head flows about the same as mine G2 SS heads, so to compare the potential with the "Viper" G4 engine in the Challenger is not what I would like to do.
Our G2 Viper is more of the "Old School" type, we had to do everything from the beginning ourselfs, and redo it several times to reach the numbers we knew were hidden in the engine (10 cylinders/502cui). No FX projects were available when we started development ;-)
We have found decent power in the engine, it is in level with what most SS C, B and A cars have today. So when we get the clutch and the chassi (3-link) to work will we probably also do the ET:s we aimed for.

I am working on a 67' Chevy II post car. Its a tribute car to "Grumpy Jenkins ". It should be done sometime around mid 2012, or earlier if things go well. Its in the body shop now. I have lots of parts here and it will be at Wisecarver's soon for a round tube back-half,4 link and cage. I used to work there and I will get to help do a lot of it hopefully. The combo will be a 275 HP 327 and I will run SS / F . It should be a neat deal.

wisecarver has mine now should be done in a couple of weeks 327 66 chevy 2 he did it all should look nice.

Maybe they fixed it. My '98 WS6 TA convert daily driver is certainly an LS1.

If you are going to claim a 1998, your only choice is a LT1 unless you plan on running a V6. You could claim a 1999 to 2002 if you want to run a LS1.

The stuff you copied above is LT1 info.

Early 98 was LT1 cars.. Late 98 was LS1 cars. The option code label is still in the car. It def says LS1 option on the label. Kyle, do you have a LT1 engine that you would like to sell ? Uhh CHEAP.:cool:

I am confident your car is a LS1 since it is a 1998. The NHRA guide for whatever reason only lists the LT1 for the entire year. 1998 is LT1 only. There is some controversy about that, but it is what it is and there isn't a performance advantage of the 1998 over the 1997 in the LT1 config.

I do have my spare LT1 that is fast, very fast. I would make you a good deal if you are truly interested.

I was working on those when the '98 production began. None were LT1s. No matter, a '98 body won't run one bit faster than a '97.

I may have cost my engines a full tenth with my fiddling. Just think what they would do without me massaging them. :eek:

Old School meets 2012?
 

I built a "new" 1964 Ford Fairlane clone Thunderbolt to run stock with, hoping to have it on the track for testing and race it in Mission this spring. PMR did the CM cage, rear-end, and front suspension, I plumbed, wired, computer, and finishing work. Waiting for the 427 Hi-Riser motor from Blair Patrick (hoping to have it real soon) so I can order the converter, C4 and converter are from A1.

I have plans to run IHRA Stock Production for the first time since one race in 2003. The index got whacked right after that race and its taken me this long to gather parts that will run the index in the heat. If it will run the SS/BS index in the heat I'll be racing NHRA also. To say heads up runs against the mini prostockers in that class will be a challenge is an understatement.

Its something I have wanted to do for a very long time, but if I don't get off the keyboard and get in the shop it's not going to happen!

I was running Hagan Gary in this run, broke out and still had a good time.

Well, This appears to be as good of thread as any to make my first post.

Although the plan is to compete in a full season will be 2013, I'm building a 2012 5.0 Cobra Jet to run in SS/H. Talk about jumping in with both feet right?

I've never ran in the NHRA so I'm having to learn how things operate around this neck of the woods. Its because of the Cobra Jet reintroduction is what got me looking at racing in the NHRA in the first place.(That and dissatisfaction with other organizations). I've wanted to go racing full time for several years but in order to make a solid go of it I had to become debt free and put family life on solid foundation. So after 2 years of paying off everything I can now go full fledge into racing. Although it will be rough at first to do everything using zero debt and take a longer period of time to accomplish full operation that is the personal path I deem 100% worth it.(Selling my 03 Cobra this summer to help speed up the process)

Scott Barker and myself will be doing all the chassis work. BES will be building the engine. I'm getting help on the clutch set-up from Scotts friend that runs in GT. I'm still working on which is the best route on Transmission for my budget.

I hope to meet some more of you at the track. The ones I have spoken with so far as been incredible helpful.

I hope to make it out this spring or early summer, finally. Car is at Dave Cech's shop getting pretty red skin, and as soon as it comes home the thrash will be on. 66 Nova, 327/275, Jerico w/ Advanced Clutch. F or G/S. Fingers crossed!
