Live from the Fall Classic
I guess I will be the reporter from Indy this weekend!
Just got here, trying to get up for a few hits in the T&T, will post more later. :D |
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
Great Beth - Jump right in - put your reporters hat on and take some of the heat off me .....
|
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
Thanks, Jack - I will do my best!
Ok, got here, rushed up to make a run with Alex's car. Ran the air, 28.73 barometer. Yuck. Car hooked pretty darn well, and we were very pleased with the run. Rushed up to make a second pass, it's now 1/2 hour until the end of tnt, two cars in front of us and the skies opened up. They announced that was the end of test and tune. So we only got the one run, but we learned what we wanted to know. The sun is out now, but there are more rain clouds on the horizon, and it is still very windy. There must be a windchill to be measured here. Steady 15-20 mph and gusting up from there. Pits are not very full, hoping more people will come tomorrow. I will try to take some pictures tomorrow as well. I am running stock so I don't know how many stockers I will get, but I will do my level best. |
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
Best of luck Beth! I just couldn't pull the get off work @ midnight go home drive to Indy deal. Guess I'm getting old! :) I think Polhill was a wash too...he was working on putting engine back together in comp car Wed...but was running out of time fast. I miss seeing everyone....ben a hell of a year! I may try to go to BG next weekend for combo race.(i could get vac then)

Re: Live from the Fall Classic
You will be missed, Greg!
Lots more rigs pulled in this morning. Yay! It's crisp, clear, and obviously from the flag in the picture, still windy. Going up to tech now..... http://moneymakerracing.net/IFC11/morning.JPG |

Got started late the tracks Pig broke, backup put into place.... Track had lots of rubber on it coming off onto peoples slicks.(scraping would have helped) Up to 15 MPH crosswind at top end(fun in a 4runner at 89MPH and less fun in a dakota @ 115) It rained 3 times by my count, but not D-1 RAINGOD Matyas style end of days downpours that have the RV owners wishing they had opted for the pontoon option, and kids wishing they had brought their skimboards to the track. At 10 pm they were still working on the track. Air feels a bit better to my jogging self, cold enough for gloves with wind chill. And there are MORE leaves down here than at home in Ma! Off to the track I go. |
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
Thanks for the info on TnT, Eric. Appreciated!
640 feet, 28.91 barometer, 76% humidity, 48.7 F when we ran about 45 minutes ago. Still windy, very strong cross wind. I was about the fifth car to go down, so I am not sure how many cars were there behind me. I am going to go up with Alex in a few minutes, will take the camera and pictures of the sheet if there is one. :D |
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
Sheets from round one stock. Sorry the wind blew the page as I was taking the bottom of the first sheet and I didn't notice it until just now when I went to upload it.

Re: Live from the Fall Classic
Looks like the dodges get power on monday Bales 1.23 under. Skillman also goes 1.21 under on his single to get power on his SS 12 mustang out west. Tom

Re: Live from the Fall Classic
Here is Superstock - 43 cars so far. Jim Harrison is listed in the incorrect class, he is in KA, not LA, so it will change some just because of that.

What did you change for Alex to be in GT/KA?

Re: Live from the Fall Classic
I heard there is a new D/SA record and its not by a new car.10.39?
|
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
Andrew Hill set it today!!! He didn't get the mph record, but he did take the ET portion. Wade Owens was also chasing a record in stock.
SS/OA got reset and I am not sure if Gary Summers was successful or not, but he had an R on the window as well. Ritch Bowers said he had 6 cars to go through teardown, so there were more but I am sorry, running three cars and one of those three are running in the bracket race too, I wasn't able to watch as much as I would have liked. |
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
Thank you Beth for posting all this info.
You are truly AWESOME! |
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
Thanks, Jason - just trying to pay it forward..... :)
Ok, after two rounds. We picked up a few more stockers. 71 now! http://moneymakerracing.net/IFC11/P1050930.JPG http://moneymakerracing.net/IFC11/P1050932.JPG http://moneymakerracing.net/IFC11/P1050933.JPG |
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
No third time trial, but they are going to run a clean up now for anyone who did not make two runs today. I guess I am finished for the day! Tony is running the bracket race though.
We run first round in the morning, random pairing, so these sheets won't be making a ladder. Here are the sheets from Superstock. I have no idea why the first pic below is messed up. It shows fine on my computer, but when I post it it turns weird. Sorry! http://moneymakerracing.net/IFC11/P1050934.JPG http://moneymakerracing.net/IFC11/P1050935.JPG http://moneymakerracing.net/IFC11/P1050937.JPG |
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
Bill Foder bought Jeff Stealy's corvette. He made his first ever pass with the car this morning and blew a lot of smoke out. Second pass was better, still a lot of smoke but he made it down under the index. He and his wife are working very hard to sort this car out. In memorium, they chose to leave Jeff's name on the passenger side window. It was nice to see the car out - they are working hard to get it going again. And Happy Birthday to Bill as well!
I'm going to head up to the barn and see who's there and what they are doing..... |

Today's records were set by: Carey Bale A/SA, Andrew Hill B/SA, & Donnie Beeler J/S in Stock, and Myron Ramey SS/OA in Superstock.
Gary Summers and Wade Owens were not there. Some pictures from the barn: |
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
10.39 in D/SA. And they bit$h about the CJ's being under rated.
|
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me Charley Bob, I meant to post that I put B/SA for Andrew and it was supposed to be D/SA record.
|
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
Great Job Beth
Thank you for your effort. |
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
Very good work Beth, thank you!
|
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
Thanks everyone!
I have a bunch of pictures to post, I will have all afternoon to do so as I lost first round....my rear brakes hung up and I couldn't leave the line on time or run my number due to the drag. Grrrrr. Tony's still in though, and we have yet to run Superstock.... :D |
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
Did everyone make it through teardown?
|

Charlie, your damn right I complain about the CJs and DPs. Give me a set of heads as good as theirs and the D/SA record would be 9.39, not 10.39. At an open, the 1.00 under rule doesn't apply, so it's just the 1.20 under rule. No one got horsepower, although the Challenger would have gotten 14 if it had passed teardown. |
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
Congrats to Andrew and all of the other folks that set records at the Fall Classic!
|
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
[QUOTE=Andrew Hill;288105]Everyone except the Carey Bales. Apparently that car was one of the first few built, and the spec on the piston dome was changed after the motor was built. It still has the original pistons, so the dome was quite a bit too big. QUOTE]
So an engine that came stock from Chrysler with original pistons will not pass tech? Oh I forgot, those were not real cars. Looks like regular production cars that you would buy new at a dealer are not legal to race in Stock. Now how wrong is that? And what does that say for the future of Stock? |
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
Andrew I think you have a good set of heads. How can you complain about CJ's you just beat one in the class final at columbus and now you just took the record. In the words of your dad you must be a PIG.
I was told in April of this year at the NC nationals from two different tech men that all runs at national open count towards AHFS. |
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
Congratulations to Matt Antrobius. He has a picture of the trophy on his facebook page,so I have to assume he won.Maybe the results will be on DRC tomorrow!
|
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
We left the track after third round, so I have no more to post regarding rounds, sorry.
|
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
Congrats Matt Antrobius! He beat Chris Stephenson in the final of stock. Chris beat Alan Kastle in the semis, and Matt had the bye.
In SS, I believe Scott Stillings beat Dan Olding in the final, although it may be the opposite. Charlie, obviously I have good heads, I just don't have as good of a platform to start with as the 440 hp, or is it 412 hp, oh that's right, 325 hp mustang. Oh and in case you didn't know, I didn't get the MPH record, so I guess I'm not making as much power as the CJ, just doing a better job of getting it to the ground. |

Re: Live from the Fall Classic
There were 5 stockers who made record attempts. Myself (K/SA), Donnie (J/S), WadeO (L/SA), Andrew (D/SA) and Carey (A/SA) in Eric Merryfield car. First thing congrats to Donnie and Andrew (what a nice car) on setting the records. Now to us who missed out, WadeO ( who could have set the K/SA record easily) just did'nt have the weather conditions for L/SA. I talked with Carey and Eric Saturday night, there pistons failed dome ht. The pistons in question were the original that came with the motor from Chrysler aka std. bore. The Car is still sitting in the BARN with the Cylinder Head off waiting for Bruce to come back from the Arizona Nats to make a ruling on the pistons? Myself, after making my backup run for the record (11.67) my fuel failed. The fuel checked good on the mourning run, but not on the afternoon run. They checked the fuel three times with all reading being different?? JKeihn3954

Re: Live from the Fall Classic
rowdyboys31, Wade Owens car fit`s in L/SA,M/SA, N/SA, not K/SA. Tom
|
Re: Live from the Fall Classic
Tom, I was unaware Wade's car does'nt fix in K now. I just remember back in 2010 he was #2 qualifier at the Indy points meet in K/SA.

Re: Live from the Fall Classic
Andrew is right, only 1.20 or better count. The piston on the 5.7 was original 205 dome, which was changed to 210. I don't know how big the domes were. On ours, the extra .005 fixed the problem. And that non-mopar, non-blue oval motor needs hp. Now where have I heard that before. Congratulations on your record Andrew.
