Noble weather
Still early, but weather forecast for the Div 4 LODRS race at Noble, OK is getting worse.
Weather Channel shows rain chances are 30% Fri & Sat, 60% Sunday. Rats. |
Re: Noble weather
I've only been there once but I'd venture a wild guess and predict that the wind may blow at some time during the weekend. (Probably a headwind.)

Re: Noble weather
Ed, MSN weather shows 20% friday,0% sat, 0% sunday? Tom

Weather men don't have a great track record in Oklahoma. Wasn't supposed to rain during the Tulsa points race. They missed that one too. |
Re: Noble weather
Ed,
I put as much belief in the Weather Channel as I do, well never mind..... :-) I prefer to monitor weatherunderground.com, seems like over the years they've hit it more consistently than TWC. That being said, do you realize that this years event will be the 20th LODRS event @ Thunder Valley Raveway Park? 20 years..... And in the previous 19 we've had LOTS of sunshine, some SNOW, rain of course and even some hail. Believe I remember watching a tornadic front blow through one year as well...... And like Mr. Norton said, wind,...... cross, head & tail, sometimes all 3 in the same weekend! I've been to the previous 19, and will be there announcing the 20th as well. No race car though, it's gone, I've retired. And most unfortunately, no Lynn, for he's gone too.... but I know he'll be there in spirit! Looking forward to seeing everyone for the 20th, planning on having some fun next weekend, hope you all are too! Unk |

Just not enough time with my schedule to try to keep up with a race car. Of course I had a GREAT time with it, but it's the people in the sport that make it memorable..... Unk |
Re: Noble weather
I have also raced at Noble's Division race many years and seen//experienced all different weather conditions. When it was held in August it was sometimes unbearable HOT.
I have also experienced some really good weekends weather and at least one really bad weekend when it rained 4 plus inches overnight either Friday or Saturday night about 3 to 5 years ago. That was one ugly weekend and the race was postponed. That red mud after it rains is really slick and mucky. That day almost all the rigs parked in the grass had to be pulled out with tractors and some pulled out the next day. A really ugly weekend...... however, I still go back for more... Rick Cates |
Re: Noble weather
Now it shows Fri, Sat , Sun as 10%, 30% & 40%.
Maybe it will just go away. |
Re: Noble weather
And maybe Craig H will give a 4th time run on Saturday (again) with a bad weather forecast for Sunday...brick wall, lets run right into it...

Re: Noble weather
Been there, done that. Right? LOL

Re: Noble weather
Dan is PROHIBITED to show up in Noble. It ALWAYS seems to RAIN when he comes. Security at the gate has already been notified.

Re: Noble weather
Being the "team player" that I am, I have decided to grant all of you perfect weather for the weekend and NOT attend the fine Noble facility. Pack your sun tan lotion and enjoy...

We're so screwed now!!!! |
Re: Noble weather
Looks like the "fine Noble facility" is all we are going to have now. Tulsa Raceway Park is closing at the end of the month.

Re: Noble weather
So with Tulsa closing, does that mean Houston gets 3 divisionals next year?? Whats with all these D-4 tracks closing the past 3-4 years? Somethings gotta give!!

Re: Noble weather
Sorry to see Tulsa is closing.
No David I don't think Houston will get a third points meet. However, No Problem may be worth looking at for a second points meet. One in the spring and another one around late in the season. |
Re: Noble weather
Where's Ed Obrien???????????????????????????????????????????? ??
|
Re: Noble weather
Have not see or heard from him since just before Noble 2009. He didn't make that race. Guess he just quit. Probably smarter than the rest of us.
|
Re: Noble weather
John, I heartly agree. The fall race at No Problem is a great idea!
As David points out, we have lost so many Div. 4 tracks, it's heartbreaking. |
Re: Noble weather
A second Ennis points race maybe? More central location.

Re: Noble weather
Have to say I am having trouble deciding whether or not to leave in the morning. Now showing 50% Sat and Sun. I was there last year and parked in the mud. Spent 3 days in the hotel room and then 1 run on Monday and first round after that, lost, packed up and went home. What a cluster. I don't know if I want to go through that again.
Belle Rose is a hell of a tow from Dallas, they already have 2 events, do they really need a 3rd? Ennis and Houston are more capable of handling large car counts for divisionals. Belle Rose has been blessed with some really abnormally dry conditions for several years. It can rain like crazy there. I was raised in that part of the country and have first hand experience. |
Re: Noble weather
Weather channel shows today, Fri, Sat, Sun as 30%, 20%, 30%, 40% chances of rain. If I weren't so close I'm not sure what I would do.
|
Re: Noble weather
Clear, pretty day here today. 'Course, it's windy. Big surprise.
|
Re: Noble weather
Local weather forecast here just now (9:30 pm Fri) just showed a 90% chance of rain here.
What am I doing here?? LOL! |
