"Live" from Columbus Jegs Sportsnationals 2011
Well we are on our way! We are driving for a while tonight, then will get on in to the track tomorrow. The weather had been looking good, but now it looks like there is a little chance of rain nearly every day. The points race that was rained out will be finished up on Thursday, then we have time trials on Friday, class on Saturday and eliminations on Sunday.

Well we are up and on the road again. Stayed at a Walmart in Carrollton, Ky last night. It was raining really hard going thru Florence, KY then a little lighter thru Cincinnati. Now we are in road construction on 71 N with the left lane closed. At least we are moving!
Does anyone know if Hawk and Cook's new Mustang will be here? We should be at track in a couple of hours. I will post more then. |

Well we just pulled in and are in line. We are barely off the highway. Hopefully they will start parking soon instead of waiting til 3. People are already pulled off on the side of the highway now. The ground appears to be pretty wet. I know it has rained on us off and on all morning. It is not raining right now, so I hope it continues to be dry.

Well we have a great parking spot just as you come in the track, so come on by to see us. The place has been filling up all afternoon. It has been raining a little off and on. Just fixed some good country ham for supper and have been sitting outside talking with Joe Martens, Paul Boster and Jeff McKinney. Paul is loaning Larry a car tomorrow so he can go to a construction equipment auction in Columbus. So thanks, Paul. I am staying here and getting the motorhome cleaned up and try to get some pics of the cars running the points race.
It is nice being able to have the windows open and not having to run the AC all the time. I think they are parking til 10 tonight. Racing starts at 10 in the morning. More tomorrow! |

After a beautiful, starry night here at the track, the sun is shining and it looks to be a great day for racing. It is 64 degrees this morning, going up to a high of 75 this afternoon. Larry left for the auction about 6 this morning and I was really going to sleep in. But at the racetrack that doesn't always work out! Tech opened at 8 and they started parking rigs that had arrived overnight, so needless to say, I was up and about earlier than I had hoped! It looks like all the rigs that were in line have been parked and racing is to start at 10 with everyone getting a time trial, then on to the completion of eliminations the rest of the day. I will try to get some pics a little later.
I have already seen a few people that are not entered online here, so don't forget you can still enter at the gate for the Jegs Sportsnationals. More later. |

Well, I have managed to pull another "stupid old woman" trick again! This morning after mopping the floor in the motorhome, I was headed up to staging to get some pictures of stockers when I discover that when I had taken pictures at my granddaughter's birthday party last weekend and downloaded them to my computer at home, I had left the memory card in that computer. So here I am with plenty of time to take pictures but no card. I called Larry and hopefully he will be able to find another one while he is out today. I had tried earlier to find another one for my Kodak camera and it takes a smaller card than what I was able to find. But maybe Larry will have better luck.
So I guess I will have to describe what's going on here! They just ran the first time trial for stock and not surprisingly most had picked up a tenth or two since they ran here in July at 100 degrees. Joe Martens had some problems off the line as did Jim Boburka. Hopefully it is something that can be fixed quickly. Well, more later. |

They have finally started running. In stock-Mitch Truman and Brian Livengood were no shows.
I don't know if there were weepers or what. they took a long time getting ready to run. Super stock complained about the track prep and they gave them another run before eliminations started. |

Well it is 10:00 and raining! And Jack is not even here! It is 57 degrees so if it does quit raining, it will take a while to get things going. When I looked at Accu-weather last night, it was calling for 5 hours of rain last night and 8 hours today. But it did not rain at all last night and has just now started this morning, so I am going to quit believing them.
The track was really bad yesterday. From what I heard they were using the VP stuff on the starting line (which was FREE) as opposed to the VHT (THAT WORKS). They are supposed to be using the VHT today, so we will see how that goes. Well, I now have a working camera, but nobody has their car out, so pics will come later! More later! |

That VP stuff is really crap for automatic cars. Stick cars need a little wheel speed, so may not mind it as much.

I'm planning on leaving tonight after my daughter's soccer game. Can someone there confirm or deny if there was a weeping issue with the track yesterday? I really don't think I can take another day of sitting around NOT being able to race because it's sunny out...

The question is WHY do they continue to have this race at such a junk track? year after year with the same results.I am loaded and ready to hit the road at the cost of about 500.00 I think you guys have just about talked me out of it sounds like the weather is only one of the problems in Columbus
