Jackson, Tn 8/20 NitroPlate Combo Roll Call
 

OK gang, its time for some downhome fun at the 3rd installment of the 2011 NitroPlate Combo series at the New Jackson [Tn] Dragway.

So far the track has shown tons of promise with the class cars.
To date this year:

-Matt Hoover has ran -.90 under his NHRA index and says he's ran better times in his record holding SS/TC Chevy S 10 here than he ever has at Bowling Green.

- Alex Owens killer M/SA was dialed -.80 under his NHRA index during the last event.

-Amy Faulk was dialed -.72 under her index in a lane that had trans fluid dumped on it from start to finish less than two hours prior. [She went to the semis that night]

-Kenny Bomar, runner up at the big $5,000-to win Combo at Bowling Green, has his stick car with the front bumper 3 feet in the air.

-About a dozen cars have ran better here than the current IHRA record or minimum. [How bout a record run soon ya'll?]


So here's a thought: Wanna find out if you're ready for Indy, then go to Bowling Green. Don't wanna wait until one week before the biggest race of the year, come on over to Jackson! Then you'll know for sure if your ready for one of the biggest points meets of the year followed by the Grand Daddy of them all.


Why not turn your two week pilgrimage to Indy into a 3 week marathon complete with down-home, Saturday night, under the lights fun!


The track features a brand new concrete burnout box followed by a 285-foot laser leveled concrete launch pad.


New expanded pits feature fresh asphalt laid just this week.


So whose gonna be there to take the guaranteed $1,000 to win purse?


And as the Announcer for the night, I get the honor of calling a combo meet for the first time since 1993 at Music City. I can still here those small block stick cars in my sleep! Oh and help a guy out please, bring a little cheat sheet on your car/driver. Like: Engine size/HP rating, accomplishments like Nat'l/Div event wins, former record holder, Div Champ etc. Its a chance to brag on yourself a little bit!


Gates open at 3 ct, time trials start at 5 ct. Entry only $50

Kevin Cradduck beat Amy Faulk in the final, he had a bye in semis, Amy beat Jim Blenkarn in the semis.

Kevin Cradduck was driving Scot LaMar's 69 Camaro SS/EA, the car we often call "Marvin the Martian", because it's green and it hates Earth creatures.

Jim Blenkarn was in a late model Camaro that belongs to Scot LaMar and Randy Payne that we call the "Gravedigger" because it's green with green flames.

So Scot LaMar had two of the last three cars in eliminations.

Fantastic night of down-home racing folks.

17 cars total entered. At least [I think] 4 former World Championships represented.

To get into the top 8 in qualifying, you had to be -.60 under or better.

Amy Faulk paced the field, had them covered by almost a tenth with an outstanding -.93 under her index AND went to the finals.

Big congrats to NitroPlate's Kevin Cradduck on the win. He's certainly had enough bad luck this year so this win was well deserved!

To further illustrate how tough it was, Mr all-world-conquering, multi time World Champion Edmond Richardson was on the trailer after round 1!

All in all a great night of fun.

The next one should be even bigger!

The Jackson combos are a great time. The facility is nice and getting better all the time. David is spending significant dollars on additional blacktop in the pits so parking is really nice. The track is outstanding. You won't find a track that hooks any better. I can attest to that now that we have the super stocker to the point where it leaves right.

If you haven't made it to one of the Jackson combos you really need to try to get there. It won't take long for you to recognize that the racers are treated as customers with kindness and respect. What more can you ask for; a guaranteed purse, a great racing surface and a big thanks for coming. It doesn't get any better.
