"Live" from Columbus Lucas Oil race

Well actually we are not live yet. We are still home working. Larry is out of town doing a line-boring job and I am in the office answering the phone and quoting parts because Chris has the flu. But we do still plan on being there this weekend. I had a text from Tonya Lynch this morning that said they started parking about 9.

Anyone who is there, feel free to jump on here and let us know what is happening!!

Patsy, Don't think that it would apply to u guys, but stay away from going straight thru Columbus. There is bridge construction right where I71 south and I70 east come together downtown. Supposed to be a mess until Sept. Would suggest that it be best to got around the I270 outerbelt when possible. I would think that you guys would be going around I270 on the south leg to I70 east anyway. Supposed to by 97 today, so needless to say...a regular National Trail type meet. Myron Stutes Colubmus

Patrick when down last night to get in line with the wgn, all he told us was, it's HOT. I'am not going it's to hot for me and I'am still waiting for my quicktime bellhousing for the 428.

It's supposed to be 96° there today according to the Weather Channel. Of course, be sure to add-on that Div. 3 humidity.

Thank you for getting this started. The weather defies the imagination.
I saw the last Rich South run and they really worked at it.

Re: "Live" from Columbus Lucas Oil race

Anyone know if there will be tech Saturday? I about had my car ready in near stocker trim then found a blown head gasket. I just finished the valve job and milling today. Assembling the head in the a.m. Plumbing fuel sample valve, installing the head, and some other odds and ends tomorrow. Then I think I might throw slicks in the hatch and drive my little fwd stocker from Cincy to Columbus just to get it tech'd in for a grade point. Too bad I just made the decision this week to get rid of the ac haha. Id consider actually trying to qualify if I can get all the pump gas pumped out...

I really have no desire to load the thing on a trailer and head to Michigan for a grade point next week..

I was in the same boat last year and never made a race.. But this year I have a much better head on my shoulders, and started with a much better (non cut up) car to prepare for stock. I really want to make Indy this year. But at least if I dont I am pretty certain ill at least get my grade points for next year this year hahaha.

Sorry to hi jack further.. But that is the case correct. You just need to be able to pass tech and dont even have to make a pass to get the point? For example if I dont get my stuff together I could take a stock car in the guide and get it teched, and ahve my grading point...

I know this is covered but im going nuts trying to get this thing done lol

Seriously ! You would spend $170 entry fee just to get a grade point ? NHRA has you where they want you. :D

Ridiculously hot and its close to home so its not a large investment, ill make that up by working this weekend, and ill be ready to rock for BG. At least it sounds good on paper!

Nitro im going to try to talk Brad Hutton in to coming to BG with or with out a race car hah.

Yall don't know what hot is. Move to the swamp with us "Swamp People". 90-90 is a good day, and down to 80 at night is sweater time.

Boy, does it look like it is slow by looking at the qualifying #s. Anybody got the density altitude??

Jeff, your reply states that it gets hot down there. According to the weather channel, not only is it hotter in Columbus but the heat index is higher.

Must be the math they teach in school down there.

Well for once I am not sorry that work got in the way of going racing this weekend. I just came in out of the pool (and it was almost too hot to be in). I don't envy any of ya'll at the track!

I just talked to Tonya Lynch and Keith blew up an engine today in time trials. They are only 2 hours away, so who knows?? if it rains out the 1st round tonight, they might be back tomorrow with their spare engine in!

Lost rd 1 in close race with Jeff Dona yesterday (.035 to his .030). Broke out by -.003. he was good by .019. Spent the rest of the day in the hotel pool again!

They did get all of the first round action in before any of the storms hit.

It's wet out here sunday morning, and the clouds look semi-threatening. We'll see what they can get in today...... I'm going home.

I heard the SRA reps were just called to the tower. That could mean a possible reschedule for a later date for this race..... wait and see.

1/8 mile race, it's only wet @ 1/4 mile finish line. It's still hot @ 88 degrees.

There's a pretty big thunderstorm headed right at them. I hope Jay will have enough sense to call it now and send everyone home. Its a pain in the ***** packing up in the rain!

It's been boring this weekend at home but I'm glad I didn't make the trip to Columbus. At least I've been able to stay cool. I think a better week for this race would be the weekend before the sports national race in September.
