I couldn't resist - I just couldn't ...I had a chance to book out of work early and sneak over here thinking I'll get a good pit spot and be ready for tomorrow .So much for leaving early as everything I gained leaving early was lost on route 22 in traffic .But after getting here I realized that there was no need for getting here early.Talk about being treated like VIP's - Lex Dudas and his staff here at Maple Grove decided that we'd ( Stock/ SuperStock ) be a separate show and parked us up front and on the asphalt usually reserved for the Pro's .Nice , very nice indeed .Time trials - yep , we go out at 1 and 4pm - no waiting ! ! And in front of the big crowd.

We could learn some things from these folks - we may have Goldrush Trailers and 45' Mega Motorhomes but these folks have things we just don't - what you say - I 've seen several Hot Tubs and pools already not to mention smokers all over the place .You'll see in the pics they take this deal serious about having fun and comfort .I'll try and get some good shots tomorrow as we should have a fair amount of entries as there are about 15 or so here already .Till then ............

That Vette would've been even cooler with a straight axle front end. Haven't seen a "Grump lump" scoop in ages.

We're out on the track in less than an hour - don't know the exact car count yet but its around thirty - total here on the ground is around 550 .I'll let you know how the first round of timetrials goes for us ............

We just got our first of two time shots today in front of a huge Super Chevy crowd .........and like they say the crowd went wild .Well , maybe not wild but they sure liked us .I was in the first pair and came around to take some pictures and was amazed the stands were still full- they stayed around to watch us ........next in about two hours we'll go out again .

Just had our second and last time shot - we get to sit until 1pm tomorrow when we will have first round in front of a packed house hopefully -- one could get used to being treated like royality .......next week at the Lucas Oil race things will get back to normal .

In the almost forgot department - today is Jeff Tripps' birthday -- I think he 's maybe 52 or three - doesn't matter - some of us got together to celebrate his big day - we had a huge ice cream cake - it was terrific ..........I wonder if the fact that Jeff had on a Dairy Queen t-shirt had anything to do with that great cake ? Anyway Happy Birthday Jeff ............

In an hour or so we'll be going out for our first round and most of us are chomping at the bit .

Took a ride over to the car show area and bumped into last years Indy winner Tim Bishop - he's in the house showing his drop dead brand new '97 Camaro SS LT4 - he says he'll be back on the trail soon as he's waiting on his motor from Bub .Today he'll win something for sure with his Camaro ........

Police presence here is the most I've ever seen - and walking their beat - no cruiser stuff - not sure if its a good thing or bad .

Things were moving along until Pro Mod ran! One fire in the burnout box and one crash later, and we are still waiting to run 3rd rd.

Awesome rounds of stock/super stock yesterday. Congrats to Bryan Worner on his win and his ability to defy gravity and fly way beyond the 60' marker. The crowd loved it. I had my first Vegas Fuel drink compliments of the Worners and it was good stuff!

The Guest and Rinehart SS/EA Camaro was looking great as usual and flying high as well. They are great people who lent me some tools and even helped me check the carburetor on the Chevelle I was running in bracket class. What else can I say, Jack's GTO and Larry Jewel's corvette are both things of beauty. It's a shame however, I was rooting for a Bob Bender/Rich Epprecht final! I wanted to see what a stock race from the 60's must have been like :o

Thanks Bobby, and I'm glad you enjoyed your Vegas! You were still in when I left. How did you do?

As always Dave and the crew put on a great race, especially having the track prepped before every round! It's really cool to have a combo race at this event! For all you GM S/SS racers who don't come to this event, ask anyone who was there, it is a great event to be a part of. Thanks again everyone. And especially for that cool jacket for winning the wheelie contest!

Got down to 7 cars from 146 and lost in the 5th round.. first time driving the car in 2 years though so it was a good day.
