Congrats to Drew Skillman on your runner-up at Norwalk. A 20 year old kid racing in STK/SS on $5000000 of grandpa's money, life is good for some. While the kid has some skill I think the car is doing most of the work. We will see if he wins class at INDY. My money is on Bo 10 to 1 odds.

For christ sakes can't we just congratulate this kid without sarcasim? I met the entire Skillman clan @ Norwalk Nats. really nice people 3 generations racing together what the hells wrong with that? Jealousy is ugly, give the kid a break. My kids raced my junk a few times on my dime, someone got a problem with that? Joe

Great job Drew. Getting to a final round at a national is a big deal and you managed to do it faster than most. The car can't do all the work required to make that happen on it's own. It's good to see your old man racing now too. Keep up the good work! Charley, the last time I checked, Drew did win class at Indy last year in a stick car, so he knows how to get that done. Now tearing the car down is a different story. I'm sure the Skillmans can figure out how to run with Bo.

Good job Drew. I had a hell of a race with Drew in 2nd round at Norwalk with .0025 separating us at the finish line. Too bad it was at midnight and there were 5 people in the stands to see the old mustang vs new mustang "showdown" lol

Tim that is my whole point, if I can win in a CJ anyone can. And running 140mph in STK gives you a big advantage. Big money helps a ton.

Yes Charley you have a very nice ride, never said you implied the Skillmans weren't good people just stated my view of them. I just thought it a strange response for a kid out there doing his best...no matter what budget he's racing on or whos money. I'm quite sure his folks didn't "buy" him those round wins he earned them fair and square. I know I'd be offended if someone posted something like that about me. Congrats to the Skillmans and as far as the tear down comment? If you are implying that they don't know how to work on their cars...stop by the classic car shop and you will find them in t- shirts working on old cars all the time. I think Donnie Garner and Wes Wells know a thing or two about going fast also.:)

I have my user name on here as B.D.D.2 but my real no name clown name is Jason McGinley,and we have met before Charley and i get a kick out of your post on here they always piss somebody off!!But not me!! See you at the U.S. Nationals and btw I heard Butner had been working with Skillmans on there cars and going fast,any truth to that?

No doubt your cars are all bad a*** and I actually like the new cars but your point about the sheer number of new cars showing at Indy this year means that .80 under cars like mine don't stand a chance of even qualifying for Indy this year. Personally, I can't afford to run .95 under in the land of no barometer, we low compression folks typically can't run those numbers without cubic $$$.

....And that is the exact reason it should be class winners , plus qualifiers at Indy.

I personally hope that a lot of the DNQ's are some of the higher class, "old school" cars that were all in favor of the change a few years ago.

You're right...there will be plenty of threads moaning on all that, I previously said I like the Skillmans after meeting them at Bowling Green and I congratulate them for at least running the cars closer to their potential than some.
