Live from the O'Reilly Jegs All-Stars Nationals in Joliet
 

We arrived here last night about 2:30 am after stopping in Monee and getting the motorhome and trailer washed. They were supposed to start parking at 10 am, so imagine our surprise when everyone started moving up about 8 this morning. We are in and parked real close to the back of the track when you first pull in on the right. So come on by and see us. We are across from all the big inflatables at the end of the track. Thanks to Red and the rest of the guys for not parking us under the power lines. Our TV is coming in pretty well also. For those of you who aren't here yet, you come in on Larraway Road up by the Nascar track like usual, then enter at the end of the track. It is pretty well marked if you are watching for it.

Well, I am going to fix us some lunch, then try and clean out some of the Norwalk grass and mud, then go out and get some pics. They tech and park until 6 tonight.

Please say hello to our Div 6 Stock/Super Stock reps for me! We sent a couple of good ones to do some battle! They are a couple of great guys!

Patsy & Larry - Glad to see you're on the job .Normally I'd offer an inexpensive rate for myself and my cheerleader outfit to help your D3 guys and gals along but I'm sorry to say I've already been booked by the Division One hitters way in advance - 'gotta root for the home team you know .

Stay out the way of those CJ's and Drag Pak cars ................

Just the point standings is all I've seen, and of course you have to go D by D to see who is "qualified" to attend plus see last year's winners, etc to get the blocker. All this and you still can't see who may be filling in as an alternate, like Mark Faul did one year when Jeff Lane had to bow out. Kind of disappointing given all the hype for the year that they aren't showcased better until they actually get on site to duke it out

Well it has been a great day here in Joliet. It was a little warm and humid earlier in the day, but it has cooled off tonight and is a little windy. We have seen lots of people we haven't seen in a while. It has probably been at least 10 years since we had seen Merrill and Donna Schrimsher. It was great seeing them again.

We saw Troy Olsenawski this afternoon. He is the Divsion 6 Rep for Super Stock. I will get some pics tomorrow. He was the first person we met in Seattle last year and one of the friendliest.

As far as which engine Sorenson has in, they only build fast ones. I think he is in B/SA. It should be interesting with him and Slate Cummings both in B/SA. Chad Loge is in C/SA. Tommy Mattingly is in K/SA. Merrill is in H/SA. I have not seen Wydarski or Supka yet.

The weather is supposed to be beautiful with no rain until Sunday. Sportsmen are supposed to get 3 qualifying runs, then stock and super stock both get another one on Friday, then run Round 1 on Friday afternoon.

Hopefully I will get some more pics tomorrow. We have a pretty good connection here, so I will try to keep you up to date. Super Street leads off in the morning at 9.

It is night-night time after our late night last night.

JUST made our 2nd run. Air was about the same. Larry found out that the car runs faster if you start out in 1st gear! Something happened to Chad Loge again that run and Sorensen left, then stopped then started again?? Still lots of people getting out at the end.

Oh, on Butner's # 2 qualifying run, he ran 123 mph!

Forgot to tell ya'll that yesterday, we planned on putting a helmet cam in Travis and Wayne's caps while they were doing teardown for Jegs, but we couldn't get it cleared thru the NHRA legal dept.!

Just made our 3rd and last run for the day. Air still about the same. Lots of folks still getting out of it. With so many doing the same thing, how do they figure out where they will be in the final qualifying?

Sorry I don't have any more pics tonight, but Larry stayed gone on my golfcart all afternoon and I had already taken pics here close to home. I will get more tomorrow. It turned out to be a wonderful day here today. Overcast most of the day and about 80 with a little breeze. I sat outside in the lounge chair and almost went to sleep a couple of times. We went down and saw the Skillman's this evening. They had some bad luck on the way here. Blew out a front tire on their motorhome. Thank goodness they didn't crash--just messed up the fender and the piping for the generator.

We still get another qualifying run in the morning, then round 1 in the afternoon. Jegs qualifying is looking interesting! Loge was still having problems. Hope he gets it fixed.

Well, it is another beautiful day here in Chicagoland. The air is a little worse this morning. About 2300' now and probably 100' or so worse by the time we run. We start out with Round 1 of Super Street at 9, then #4 qualifying for Stock next. We should run our 1st round sometime around 1 or later. It is supposed to be 85 today and sunny so I imagine everything will be a little slower today except for the guys that have been on the brakes every run. There is a nice picture of our car on Drag Race Central this morning. If you will notice we finally broke down and put decals on but they don't look too bad!
