Live from Lebanon Valley-NHRA Lucas Oil Series

After a five hour uneventful tow thru the beautiful New York landscape I'm finally pitted here at Lebanon Valley Dragway - and a nice spot in the Diamond RV Compound to boot . I'm told tech is open for a few hours yet and the test n tune is slated to start sometime after 3pm .I'll be back then hopefully with some testing news and a who's who .......later .

For races attending the LVD divisional this weekend, Stop by the "30th Anniversary ASRA Sponsor Sign" and help yourself to a bottle of "Cold Ice Water" in the BIG White "Coffin Cooler".

Well - the test n tune is just about over- for those of you who missed it you didn't miss a thing - hot & ugly with a headwind .......nice combination for going slow .Our man Marc La Brecque - the race sponsor got into another competitors water and just missed him while spinning around - he had minimal damage to the his GT truck and with a little banging out on the sheetmetal and some new rubber he's good as new .

Tommorow looks good .........ClassRacer will be there for you .Has anyone seen the boss ? I heard he was here but ..........no sleepy pictures this weekend for me .

Good morning --- And Brrrrrrrr - this was a get up and turn the furnace on deal as the temperature is a bit nippy at 55 degrees . With plenty of humidity - 66% - ( that will more than likely burn off ) and no barometer (29.2's ) its again not going to be a fast day but at this moment we have a final DA at under 1200 ' .

We'll start this race in a couple of hours .........The boss is here and both of us will get you some pics ......

One last thing - Marc LaBrecque fixed his truck with the help of Mark Markow (owner-Markow Race Cars ) and made two very clean check-out passes before the test n tune shut down last evening .Well done boys .........

Good morning everyone, well Jack filled you in on the numbers so I will make it short.

I took the picture of Vinny Barone's pit on the way in. He was setup early and looks like he will have all three cars running this race, not sure who is driving the roadster this race.

The other photo is the pits in the field. There are basically two place to park. Close the the track and in the back field. The back field is not bad, its still close to the staging lands, and as long as there is no heavy rain its a nice grassy place to park. They also have a stream running behind the field, its a great place for the kids to cool off and have fun.

As you can see by the arrow, Jack is hiding from me. I think he was ducking me, but I found him last night anyway.

Well I tried to make it short.

Re: Live from Lebanon Valley-NHRA Lucas Oil Series

So far its been a long and frustrating day - besides being hot and ugly we're way behind .Halfway thru the first Stock session Steve Ficcaci Sr. laid down a trail of antifreeze while driving Anthony Bongiovanni's AA/SA Cobra Jet and that started off getting us behind .

Me - after setting the first leg of the E/SA record they let me go out for a back-up an hour ago and some unknown gremlins set in and slowed me up three tenths for no reason I can find .I've been chasing this problem for some time and really don't have a clue - if it moves - bends or electrifies I've changed it once or sometimes twice ! ! No wonder my hair is thinning and getting greyier bt the day.But I'll keep looking ..........Meanwhile I could be the best potential first round duck out there .

Right now the leakers are out on the track with the top sportsman to follow then Comp.

Re: Live from Lebanon Valley-NHRA Lucas Oil Series

I see DRC has not posted any qualifying. All i can say is that it slower then the last race I was at, E-town Nat's.

The weather:
Temp 78
bar 29.35
Humid 55
DA 2400
head wind 5 to 7 mph

Jack did set the record, and was fortunate enough to run in the morning. Half the stockers including me had to wait over an hour for a oil down.

This is Jacks record setting run. I think it was a 10.82 in E, but I maybe be wrong, Jack will be back later confirm.

Were done with stock for the day, possible clean ups later. Super Stock 2nd qualifier will run after the alcohol cars, probably will be late.

I have some pictures but I will post them later.

It looks like Jack backed up the record, he also has lots a photos, but he will be tied up for a while in tear down.

Ed, you ask for stick cars, you got it. This is Ray Scardelli in his high winding 289, 97 Probe.

The other video is super Stocker in the lanes, sorry for the shakiness, I'm no Toby Lang.

Eric purchased Billy Pires' Firebird over the winter, no doubt the data base hadn't been fully updated at that point.

All the tech cards have not yet been entered into the system.

For everyone trying to follow through DRC, my apologies. There have been some issues with the timing system this weekend. I am working to post everything as soon as the info is available, but things are going slowly. I will correct incorrect car information, etc. as the correct information becomes available. Again, I am sorry for the delays.

I'll be making the short drive down from southern VT to the track tomorrow....does anyone know how spectator parking is? I dont have a NHRA hard card this year, and I'm not working this event so I'm not sure they will let me directly in with my truck. :(

There is plenty of parking in the field across the street from the track. You may be able to get inside. Racing starts at 8 am tomorrow and will go until about 5 pm, when the dirt oval starts racing.

Thanks a bunch for the info. Hopefully I can get inside since I'm bringing my dad who is 75 years young and generally grouchy. :p

Okay everyone racing is done for the day. Jack set the record at 10.80@ 123. Jack is just finishing up and should be reporting late tonight. Here are some shots putting it back together. Tom Goldman is always there when you need him, and as you can see, Jack not only drives, but he works on these things two. Next time I'm in tear down, he's got my back.

Be back later with more photos, have to eat before I pass out.

Here is another in car video stick car. Todd Hoven and his D/S Firebird.

Whew ........and good morning ! ! I really wanted to do this last night but to tell the truth I was just too damn tired .Yeah , I know the boss is going to rag on me some ( or should I dare say - some more ) but by the time I got to put my baby in the trailer ( under her own power I might ad ) it was past ten PM .And then till I called home and did the good husband thing it was just more than I could do -so I went nighty-night .

Yesterday I can tell you was hard - as many of you have noticed I'm not 25 anymore ( but I still think I am ) so doing teardown after setting a record ( what the hell was I thinking - we're in the New York wilderness ) isn't my idea of a fun time .I can't thank my life long friend enough - Tommy Goldman has bailed me out of spots before and this is another of his many talents .And thanks to the Division One Certification Team - me setting a record here wasn't on their "to do" list for yesterday but they managed to get me done .

In a few hours we'l resume quailifing with Stock going out first ...........BTW , here's a few pics I managed to take along the journey yesterday ........later .

Nice job on getting the record Jack.

Great job on doing the reporting too, your boss owes you a raise.

BTW, there's a guy in a green shirt in one of your pictures standing by
Gary "Capt. Morgan Himself " Parker's Camaro, could it be " Mr. High Flying "
Barry Parker ?????

Good Luck & Happy 4th of July Everyone.

I don't know what would possess anyone to want to set a record at Lebanon Valley! You would think you would try it at Atco or Maple Grove. Congrats, you definitely earned it doing it there!

Glad to hear Marc didn't mess up his truck too bad!
