"Live" from the Summitt Ice Cream Nationals at Norwalk
Well we should be there and "Live" by now, but we are still in the parking lot at Paul and Debbie's in Columbus ( or actually Canal Winchester). A part of the exhaust system for the generator fell off at some point and Larry pulled the rest of it off this morning and he and Paul are out finding stuff to fix it with. Thank goodness for our good racing friends helping us out. Paul still has to go pick up his trailer where it is being repaired and get back, put his race car in and go to Norwalk, too.
If anybody is there, please jump on here and let us know what is going on there at the track. I can't imagine if it was so muddy last night that they were not letting anyone else in how it was going to be better by today. It is not raining here in Columbus, but it is cool and overcast and looks like it could start at any time. |

At the track and parked. It never really rained real hard last night even though it looked like it. Radar showed that most of it all went east of the track. Cloudy and looks like it could rain any minute but nothing on the radar even though local news said it will storm later today. Pits are in good shape with the possible exception of the grass being to high. Sun pops in and out.

Larry and Patsy...good luck getting it completed and on the road, hopefully trouble on the road will mean trouble free at the track. One suggestion would be that you add an avatar of your AARP Cuda to your signature..Jack, Toby, etc are raising the bar and wouldn't want you to miss out on all the live reporter bonus money! Actually, I told Larry at Bowling Green that my favorite picture you've posted is Larry with his grandkids at your lake...helps put things in perspective.

Generator is back up and running with no exhaust leaks. We will be back on the road as soon as Larry gets some of the black off!

We're here! We're here! For you coming in from the south, whenever we got off at exit 176 (US 30) they were doing construction and we could not go west, so we went east, then off on Koogle Road and back west from there. Then on to Route 13. They are still pulling everyone in thru Linders Lot on the right, then taking 5 rigs at a time across the road to the track. They said they will continue parking tonight until everyone who is here by 6 gets parked. Haven't heard whether tech will stay open later. It is bright and sunny and hot here. I will post more after we get inside. It doesn't appear to be very muddy.

Do not get off at Rt 30, go on up to Rt 250 Ashland exit (on I-71), trust me I've lived here all my life and its way faster.

Well we are in and parked and teched. Tech worked a little late and we got thru including getting our credentials. A little clue since it will probably be pretty rushed to get thru and run in the morning if you are in stock--be sure and take your printed ticket with you and it will save you a trip going back across the track to get it. Lots of people here. We are packed out in the back forty on the main road. Come by to see us. They park spectators out here, too, but hopefully there won't be any problems. We go out 1st in the morning at 9. The weather isn't looking great. It is calling for storms tonight and 60% chance tomorrow. I will go out tomorrow armed with the camera. Right now it is bedtime!

Good morning, Danny. Yes, we are up and made a run already. Air was 2300'. It started out a beautiful morning and now we are down for rain. Stock got their first run with 56 cars out. More had gotten thru tech, but the credential trailer was slow and they missed the run. Best wheelstand of the morning was Joe Martens B/S. Hope someone got a picture. I had started out to get pics when it started raining, so I will get more when it stops.

DRC says the first round of stock qualifying was complete. So why haven't they posted any results yet....almost 3 hours later?

1:19 pm.... SS'ers are being called back to the lanes. Qualifying scheduled to resume at 2pm. However, black clouds are rolling back in and we are getting another sprinkling as I type.

Today was a great day for ice cream... We were waiting and waiting and waiting, and then we went for Ice Cream and there were no long lines, just walk right up, pay your dollar and take it away....

Here is the way I see it. First Beach cannot be running with the new cars. Factor him. Give him 30 hp. Hill that pink car got to run faster than that. Looks like even Lynch aint got the power to hit it again, maybe he needs to talk to Dempsy some more. And that old Vette in the top ten, and in my class, Hit him too. Needs about 20. Did I miss anyone? Fishin is good, and beer is cold.

Thanks again for the excellent pictures, as usual you've outdone yourself! I especially liked the ones of Harlen Updike and Rob Bihl. Harlen's wagon is the original color on my Belair, before the two-tone paint! Any idea why Rob is being shown as "DQ" on the qualification list? He's listed as running Brenda Grubbs first round. Rob's c-12 did not pass fuel check first qualifying run.
Then on the last session, he had a starter/battery issue and couldn't make the pass. He was added to the bottom of the qual list (after taking another fuel check). Probably benefited from the rain shortened program. We didn't get all the hits we were supposed to. |

AT&T says they have more bars in more places, but not in Norwalk, OH.
Mom and Dad have extremely poor cellular service and can't get online very well. Pictures have been taken and will be posted when they can get service. And additional updates will follow when they can. |

maybe NHRA is blocking the signal this year so next year they can sell access to the internet at the races. That would just be one more enhancement that could be lumped in with or added on as an option to your pit bike registration fee.
