Re: Rick Wolf passes away.
Im so sorry to hear this. I knew him well back in the 70's when I ran with my friends Dick Estiveze and Jim Morgan. They ran in the same class with their CJ's. and Jim and Rick had many runs together in Div. 1. God Speed to a great person and a true sportsman.

Re: Rick Wolf passes away.
Wow... so sad to hear this! :( Mr. Wolf was a jeweler by trade. When I was a young kid, and broke my glasses in gym class (more than once), he soldered the nose piece back on when no one else would touch the project. It wasn't until several years after that I found out he was a drag racer (let alone what drag racing was), and took note of his Class win Wallys proudly displayed in his store.
It's a tiny little world... Mr. Wolf claimed that the 'Cuda had 16 street-driven miles on it. He got it from BZ Motors in Lewisburg, PA (who was one of my first sponsors). He's the first guy who ever threatened to put me in a car (although we never actually did it). He introduced me to John Baughman at the Dutch one year as "This is the young man that's going to drive my car someday." Just standing around with that group was like hanging out with royalty, for a young kid. Mr. Wolf took a protoge under his wing by the name of Ed Fetterolf, and taught him the jewelry trade. Ed went to high school with my brother. After college, I ran into him when I worked at my first sign shop: he rented the other half of the store. I later rented a room from him, then storage space for the Turismo --- in a bay behind Rick Wolf's store! Ed later got into drag racing and won a Motorcycle class championship at Beaver Springs just a few years ago. Mr. Wolf had a body-in-white Eagle Talon. Never got to see it, and I don't think he ever did anything with it, but he talked about it often. The short wheelbase was a concern, but that would've made a neat ride! While hunting for my first Stocker, I met an old Hemi driver that used to race with Mr. Wolf. He told me lots of stories from the wayback machine. He said Rick used to be quite a body builder -- could lift the front end of his Hemi off the ground, and at Numidia one time some girls were checking them out. Rick flexed his muscles and it started a rip in his shorts leg, or t-shirt ala the Incredible Hulk, and one of the girls fainted........ so the story was told! :D Godspeed, Mr. Wolf. Tempus Fugit. You will be missed. |
Re: Rick Wolf passes away.
Raced with Rick back in the 70s God Speed my Friend.
Tempus Fugit (Time Fly's). |
Re: Rick Wolf passes away.
Interesting Story Michael.....I do recall seeing Mr.Wolf and thinking he was in very good shape especially for his age and looked like he pumped iron...
Tempus Fugit means Time Flys and it was often used by the announcer as a trivia question when he came up to make a run. Sorry to hear of his passing........None of us are getting any younger ! |
Re: Rick Wolf passes away.

Re: Rick Wolf passes away.
Very sorry to hear of Ricks passing
He's been a great guy to have known for many years. We were actually hoping to see him at Numidia this weekend ,as he has come to our MASGA race several time to visit his friends, and have a few cold ones with us. |
Re: Rick Wolf passes away.
A true gentleman in every sense. He would always go out of his way to come and talk with me. His cars were always first class and fast. The world will be a lesser place without Rick. RIP my friend.

Re: Rick Wolf passes away.
Rick was one of my Super Stock hero's back in the day. I remember when I asked about the car name he told me that the Tempus Fugit was Latin for "Time Flys" which was significant because he was a jeweler/ watch repairman. I always thought that was so cool. God speed Rick. Jim

Re: Rick Wolf passes away.
Very sorry to hear this. Rick and I go back along way to the very first years of Beaver Springs Dragway. Beaver Bob even had us do some match racing. Will always have the memories of our races at The Beaver.

Re: Rick Wolf passes away.
Sorry to hear of his passing. I still remember him and his car. He certainly was a nice person.
I still use the term Tempus Fugit whenever some says "Time Flys".... RIP Rick Wolf. Zane Racing |
Re: Rick Wolf passes away.
I first met Rick (actually, if I'm not mistaken, his real first name is Clarence by the way) in the late 70s when I had my 70 Chevelle (gasp!) stocker. I was at the Turbo Action facility in Jacksonville on my way to the Gators and he was there. Super friendly guy right off the bat. We remained great friends at the track all these years and always called him my "Hero!" I always loved the "Tempus Fugit" Cuda and his warm welcome. That's certainly going to be something that I'll miss.
My prayers are with you my friend. Rest in Peace. Ken Kopecky 1454 E/SA |

Re: Rick Wolf passes away.
A great guy and also friendly/accepting of new racers into the sport. I remember meeting him when I first started competing. He was always up beat, friendly, and enthusiastic.
He will be missed... Condolences to Rick's family. |
Re: Rick Wolf passes away.
My dad put a cage in the cuda he raced in the 70's, and over the years my dad did some trading parts for jewelry. Rick was a class act, he will be missed. If anyone has his address please forward it to me.

Re: Rick Wolf passes away.
So sad that my buddy, Rick, is now gone. However, I am delighted that so many others were touched by Ricks gift of kindness and generosity.
During Ricks many visits to Florida, He would often find the time to come by my dealership (Gainesville C-D-J) for some kind of service on one of his vehicles. Actually I think he just wanted to bench race over some Bar-B-Q at Sonnys, which we always did. Or if we met at a race or hotel parking lot... He always had some cold Yuengling in his cooler to share. I'm going to miss that guy. Great sportsman and a great friend. Rest in peace. |
