Live from the Las Vegas LODRS
Hi there. We're here at the first divisional in Las Vegas this year. This race was originally scheduled for Tucson, but I guess they found greener pastures with another sanctioning body. The second Las Vegas divisional will be run after the national event in the fall as usual.
It's windy here as usual. There was a bit of rain last night. Not very much though. Temperature is 56 right now. It's supposed to get up to 66 today. There's a 30% chance of rain tomorrow. Saturday and Sunday look good though. Today is Test 'N' Tune day. Testing starts at 12 and ends at 6. I'll see if I can get a few shots of the S/SS cars today. Stay thirsty, my friends. -Toby |

Re: Live from the Las Vegas LODRS
My upload speed really sucks here. It's about half as fast as it normally is and it's real slow to begin with. I'm hoping it might speed up later on tonight, but I'm not holding my breath. I talked with somebody about using the track's wireless service. He's going to talk to somebody and see if it's OK. All I would use it for is to upload the videos and I would use my phone for everything else. I will still upload as much video as I can, but it's gonna take a while.
I took a picture of tomorrow's schedule: http://i18.fastpic.ru/big/2011/0325/...4ff505667b.jpg -Toby |

Re: Live from the Las Vegas LODRS
As I thought it might, the speed picked up at about 7:30. It was almost 3 times as fast. Got it uploaded to YouTube and Fileserve.
Here's my YouTube channel again: http://www.youtube.com/user/toby6570 To see future videos you will need to click on the Las Vegas playlist. For those of you who want a little better quality here's the link to download the video: http://fileserve.com/list/HPeAmwu I'll try to keep the camera a little more steady tomorrow. :) Enjoy! -Toby |

Re: Live from the Las Vegas LODRS
I was wondering if anybody has heard yet that they are really LIVE on 1320go.com? I guess there's no reason to post my videos now that I know that.
I heard they aren't going to start running cars down the track until 8:30 or so because the track is too cold. I've also been informed that this race was never actually scheduled for Tucson. I guess Tucson wanted to have the race on this date, but NHRA wanted to have it later in the year. That's why Tucson went elsewhere. -Toby |

Re: Live from the Las Vegas LODRS
Thank you Much Toby
Video's are really good. |
Re: Live from the Las Vegas LODRS
Man, it's windy out there today. I had it at a steady 18 MPH gusting to 26 MPH in the staging lanes. It was a cross tail. Mostly cross.
I was being a little sarcastic about not posting my videos, but have I mentioned that they are LIVE on 1320go.com? :) -Toby |
Re: Live from the Las Vegas LODRS
Oh yeah. Bernie Cunningham took his car out of the trailer yesterday and realized that he had a broken ring and pinion. He came to my trailer asking if I had Larry Peterson's number because he wasn't at his trailer. I told him to go talk to Cal Method. Cal got him all fixed up with a new 4.88 gear set.
I'm sure Bernie would like to give a big thanks to Cal Method for coming through for him. Cal is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet and is always willing to help out his fellow racers. -Toby |

Re: Live from the Las Vegas LODRS
Abe Loewen ran SS/EM last year, now he's in SS/FM. Any changes other than weight made to the car to change class?
|
Re: Live from the Las Vegas LODRS
Super Stock Q1 is now up on YouTube. You need to click on the Las Vegas playlist to see it.
-Toby |
Re: Live from the Las Vegas LODRS
Super Stock Q2 has been uploaded and it will be available after YouTube finishes processing it. It would have been up a lot sooner, but I set it to upload while I went out to dinner and of course it got disconnected while I was gone.
I edited out all the time in between the runs on this clip to get the running time under the magic 15 minute limit of YouTube. I may start doing this to all of them. Takes a little more time, but you get more runs per minute this way. Stock Q1 and Q2 staging lanes will be up shortly also. -Toby |
Re: Live from the Las Vegas LODRS
1000ft pass coming up for our first NHRA timed run
not sure what it will run once we figure that out we will see what this #5-12 V10 can do tech should be interesting Thanks all you guys for the good wishes :-) peace |
Re: Live from the Las Vegas LODRS
Hi Toby, what kind of camera are you using, Paul.
|
Re: Live from the Las Vegas LODRS
Sony HDR-CX110
Supposedly, Bursell got DQ'd for being light. I guess he teched the car in and didn't know what weight he was supposed to be at and the runs he made he was under weight. I've only seen him drive the car 5 or 6 times. I guess they are going to let him requalify today. I think he should be DQ'd from the event and get HP also. This is only rumor. Maybe GTX John can get on here and tell us the real story. We're supposed to get 2 time runs today and Stock has first round tonight. -Toby |
Re: Live from the Las Vegas LODRS
Toby
I noticed on your video Bursell has M/SA on the truck yet on the qualifying sheet the times are for N/SA. Whats up with that? If hes running in M and not N then that would explain the weight. Randy Hutchings PS: Great job on the videos. |
Re: Live from the Las Vegas LODRS
They didn't figure it out after the first pass?
|
Re: Live from the Las Vegas LODRS
So I guess I could tech into G/SA and put the F/SA weight on my tech card. Then if I don't like where I'm at I can go to tech and tell them I'm light and I get to requalify?
Don't sound right to me. -Toby |
Re: Live from the Las Vegas LODRS
Toby
I agree with you. Something is not right, thats for sure. As long as I don't take a hit on the small valve combination in my truck when I know they run the big valve combination in their truck. If NHRA is gonna give them HP then I think they should at least check which combo those guys are running. The big valve combo does not fit in N/SA. The big valve combo lets you run K,L and M, the small valve lets you run M, N and O. Thats for a 1981 which is what is showing on the qualifying list on DRC. Randy Hutchings |
Re: Live from the Las Vegas LODRS
Sure makes a difference not having a 20 MPH cross tailwind pushing you. I slowed down .08. When I got my time slip I thought there was something wrong until I remembered it was super windy yesterday.
I checked the schedule while I was up there and the only classes that have first round today are TD, TS and SG. We will get two time runs today. -Toby |
Re: Live from the Las Vegas LODRS
I just saw a schedule from RFC that says Stock has first round tonight. It doesn't say that on the schedule that's on the tech trailer though. I guess we will know for sure later.
-Toby |
Re: Live from the Las Vegas LODRS
Good luck to you and Jody! Thanks for the videos, it almost makes me feel like I am there!

Re: Live from the Las Vegas LODRS
Toby
According to DRC that truck is still in N/SA and its now an 86. I thought we had to run all the proper body parts for the year claimed. I was told by an NHRA tech person that I CANNOT run my truck as an 86 without the proper grill. There are significant advantages to being an 86 truck. Randy Hutchings |
