Because some people on here need to be hit between the eyes with a sledge hammer, the poll is revised to either go to worse red light or remain first foul we are going to do it again.Happy Gary?

Don't do it Eddie - you and Billy with guns in the back woods country is just plain scary ...............Or could it be the 2011 version of "Deliverance" ?

Re: Redlight Poll (Revised)

For those of you wanting the worse red light rule, you should also consider lobbying the NFL for a "best-out-of-three" coin flip prior to all games; the NBA to raise the basketball goal to 12 ft. to make it fair; have professional baseball umpires enlarge the strike zone to include from the neck to the ankles, and allow the batter four strikes.

To Ron,
Good call, nothing but net.

Re: Redlight Poll (Revised)

Roger K Fain,

You are correct, almost. First the NFL should change the overtime rule, it just sucks. Kansas City Tiebreaker is way more enjoyable.

The NBA needs to understand what a foul and palming the ball, along with traveling mean, and enforce it. That and an automatic ejection for falling on the floor in the "act" of being fouled.

MLB needs to call the real actual strike zone, armpits to knees over the plate, not where they are standing, and while we are at it how about that ridiculous "in the area of" when tagging a base in a double play. About allowing a batter four strikes, no way, how about two strikes and three balls to shorten the boring part.

And as far as worst light vs first redlight, don't care, but before someone makes a stand on what they believe, they first should put themselves in the same position as both views are from different perspectives. Slow cars vs Fast cars.

Ron Ortiz
U/SA don't red light, don't red light, don't red light, ........................damn it.

Re: Redlight Poll (Revised)

So dumb to even continue this but I can't help it.
It's so simple. Once the first car fouls, THERE IS NO RACE from that point on. The red lighter has been ELIMINATED and the race is OVER. What the second driver does after that is of no consequence because the round is already over. Unless foul worse than a red light occurs. It's a time trial, test n tune pass, a chance to win the Perfectly Strange award, if they still have that, wave to you friends whatever.
So take that last beating you dead horse......

Guess again oh Edddddd, it's now 64.44% to 35.55%, so your count is getting reeled in...haha. I don't really care how this turns out, but I take great pride in the thoughts of someone who actually thought a Gremlin outsold a Cavalier, now that's LMAO FUNNY!!!

I just checked, and per your stats, and my checks as well it appears that the Chevy Cavalier sold more cars in its first 4yrs of production (over 1.1mil.), than your Gremlin sold in 9yrs...REALLY? You're too close to that John Bonehead (Boehner) dude, you really need a vacation...maybe some warm Az. sun could do you some good, but bring your sunscreen, because one orangeman is enough...lol

Oh, and per the guy who spoke of trying the fast side of handicap racing, I would if I had the bucks...trust me...

I'd rather be from the land of hope and change, than be from the land of the Charles Dickens novel "A Christmas Carol", which is where we will be headed if your "ORANGEMAN", and his afraid to reveal who "AMERICANS FOR PROSPERITY" supporter really is, plus his corporation/mega-rich/fear mongering/deception creating cronies have their way.....he best stay away from Wisconsin though, because several recalls are underway, and they could take place in just two months...heck I'll have a race under my belt by then...at our level even...imagine that. Question is, will I be supporting the enhanced NHRA at the national level, or what??? I'll tell you one thing Ed, I'll certainly be traveling more miles than you will....come to think of it Ed, have you traveled to ONE RACE that was more than 300 miles away from Old Bridge? Given you want to slight me on the minimal amount of races I've gone to, but I'll tell you this, the mileage I traveled to the three races I went to last year, could've been farther than you went throughout your whole 2010 season? I'm shocked that you actually went beyond 300 miles (one way), to attend a race...that approx. 526 you traveled from your town to Norwalk must've been rough huh Ed? You put in a season that I'd be glad to have run, but it must be nice to have gone to all of those races and not have to tow much more than 126 miles (one way to the remainder of them). No I'm not complaining, because I've seen the weather you have to deal with, and I'll take me sunshine and nearly 80 degrees any day over what you've gotten (are about to get again)! Sunshine isn't hard to shovel...where's my Corona though.....

Oh, and per the guy who spoke of trying

Every post you make shows you for the petty, childish numb nuts that you are. You're the
little kid that has to get in the last word.
Your posts are bordering on the point of you being shown to fit into the category of whiny bitch. You worry about others who in a better
position than you.Stop being a victim and learn to live in the reality of where you are in life.

The poll, which you think would change from the original one, still shows about a 65% to 35% split for keeping the system as is.
Besides the only thing you've been racing since you've been on here is your mouth.
Bring your last cute post and let's be over with it.

rules in all sports change ,Cut down the time football teams spend in huddles. Limit catchers’ endless visits to the pitcher’s mound. They took the red line out in hockey after 70 years to make the game better to play.maybe it's time for a change in our sport to make it better.

You think hockey is better now?How long have you been watching it?
I go back into the time of the 6 team league.Started going to games in MSG in 1955.

The enthusiasm for "first" in the case of the starting line, I presume this would apply to the finish line as well?

Once one vehicle breaks out, the other vehicle ought to be immune?

"The first to foul, and the first to breakout are always the loser." Seems like this would be a consistent application of the notion of "first".

Excellent logic, Mr. Bunkster. I can't imagine a valid argument against what you have suggested.

NO!!!.....Lets say you have a better light than your opponent, you beat him to the stripe by a .001 of a second, break out less than your opponent, and you lose the race because you did it first?

Sure, why not? They shouldn't have ran quicker than their dial. Just like the first person to leave shouldn't have red lighted, right?

I think the red light rule should be the same as the break out rule. Either make them both first loses or both worst loses.

Yep ,you're right Ed. It's the democratic American way.

The fast car drivers should be able to vote against anything that evens up the playing field a little bit for the first leavers.
Just like they should be able to vote against deep staging so the slow cars won't be able to leave on the last bulb like they do...
There's more high class cars nowadays, so they should be able to set the rules.

Now ,I still say we can vote out those pesky ,underrated new cars next.

Well I guess I've come to the conclusion that this is an experiment in futility.I'm done.
All I can say is that it used to be in life that the majority rule was taken as being the standard by which we lived our lives. No more.

Did you ever notice that no one has ever given a good reason and/or argument as to why this rule should stay the way it is? You know..reasoning other than "That's the way it is/It's been like that forever/quit crying/you should have built a faster car/I red lit first I deserve to lose/You bracket race, we class race/There are bigger problems, etc." I guess if we had a poll on whether or not gas prices should decrease I wonder if they would say:

Hopefully gas stays high because..well...that's the way it is. Quit crying, just build a car that gets better gas mileage. After all, you bought a means of transportation that runs on gas, you deserve to lose (money at the pump). You knew the rules, you should have gotten one that runs on water. What am I talking about, I don't even care how much gas costs, there are bigger problems that need to be addressed.

Happy Friday!

That's why I'm here...for the dialogue . It makes no difference to me..I win either way.

Ed , before the door hits you in the butt, I still think this poll is like doing a poll about Democratic politicians, in NYC..You know how that would go.. Take care, buddy!

Democracy sucks....as does "the majority rules".

Two wolves and a sheep, voting on what to have for dinner.....or two males and a female, voting on the legalization of rape...may not lead to a very equitable outcome.

actually there is a logical argument against it. If the first breakout were always the loser there would be less incentive to try and take the stripe in a bracket race. As it stands right now both cars go to the line intending to take a shot at the tree.

bill dedman 03-04-2011 11:52 PM

Re: Redlight Poll (Revised)

You may well be right, Chad. I could agree with that.

But, even if it were true, that would be no reason to condone what we have now, back on the starting line.

What you have suggested is a nebulous, iffy, potential COULD happen scenario, steeped in uncertainty and ambiguity. Possible, yes, but subject to a thousand potential uncertainties. COULD happen, for sure...

But...

This red light rule that we have is an iron-clad certainty, every time.

You bulb first, you're OUT, thus depriving the second car of his chance to do what you just did, and maybe worse.

I think everybody should have his own chance to do that (red light.)

Can't think of any logical, sensible, reason why he shouldn't. Can you?
