It is a 97 Viper owned by Dr. Tommy Fudge, a heart surgeon who has owned it since new. Over the years we just kept changing stuff from stock to now it is fully caged, a Ford 9 ", 4 link, Torqueflite, A-1 converter, and the motor has a pretty good list of things, Jesel, Comp, just for starters. The car has a best of 9.28 @ 148, unfortunately we had computer trouble with the car @ BR and never got down the track. It's on 9" tires and we actually ran Top Stock with the car a couple of times. Doc races when he can, but his time is extremely limited. Doc also has a nice super gas car, but lack of time again and he sold the car this week. The T/Flite was the greatest change, and when the car started going over 140, it had to have the 4 link, because you were no longer driving, it was driving you. I think it's been off the street 8 or 9 years. Unique car. Joseph is my son. We maintain the car for Doc. The motor has about 750 hp.

Hey Jeff...any chance someone can post video of it? I'd love to hear and see it run. Certainly must sound different.

Gary, either that or wait for the first 2011 DP which is Viper powered. Does have it's own sound. It is rated @ 425 hp. IHRA allows the T/F and NHRA has yet to allow it. I actually build a car for that, but could not get them to change the rules. I now have a 98 Viper SRT Cpe., cage, 4 link, cell, and everything else with 17k miles stored in our facility.

Everyone who has driven the car (and there are many) says it's very smooth. It's sorta unique in that the car has a 3.55 gear, a motor that shuts the fuel off @ 6500, and a converter about 5000 flash. You gotta shift it right or hit the overspeed. Course I can't get in the car, a little problem with weight and size. The car if allowed with a T/F could be a real fun item for the 427 Vettes in SS.

Hey Jeff, I know the liberty's can be expensive but why not put a manual in the car? It would be active driving getting through all the gears but the car should fly with a good manual setup.

Re: Joseph Teuton that is one sweet viper

We looked at that, but then the DP's came along and I need to shuck a couple cars. We kept the car street legal, ac etc because of that. And I got a GT/CA Cuda 440 that's a good car. That car with a 5 speed would be tough. These Viper motors are not even close to maxed out. But they are unique.

Nice to see the Viper on the Strip again!
Is that engine built to NHRA SS Specs or?

Re: Joseph Teuton that is one sweet viper

It's basically ss motor, but with a stock intake & throttles

That's the first thing I thought of. After squeezing myself into a street Viper I can only imagine how tight it would be in there with a full cage installed, and I'm just average sized (6 ft. and 185lbs).

Re: Joseph Teuton that is one sweet viper

A friend of mine threw me the keys to his 450 HP Viper GTS today. First time I've even been in one. I was pleasantly surprised at the smoothness of it all. Not what I expected. Got on the freeway on ramp at 110 MPH, let off to about 80 and stood on it in 4th to about 125 MPH. Made the next exit. This is 1 mile apart.
Incredible. No vibrations, no death grip on the wheel. And he told me you can buy used ones in nice condition all day long for about $35K. Unreal...:)

Now if I can get my other buddy with his Z06 to do the same..
