gas prices UPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP again
Well the price of gas has gone from $2.04 to $3.499 at the station near work in 90 days... It went up 25 cents while I was sitting at the light and I know he does not get any deliveries until Wed/Thu so what gives???? This is getting tottaly out of hand. Don't know what it is where you are but this is collusion or something like that !!!!! Comp 387

Yeah, and what are we gonna do about it?
We can't hurt the gas companies unless we buy an electric car or a hybrid. As soon as I can afford one I am. Keep the big truck/trailer/race car for those lone trips to the track. I miss step. |
just my .2 cents but i think it'll go up & up till the holiday then come down to oh $2.85.... that way we'll think it's "CHEAP" for the rest of the summer! I'll quit their.........shxx pixx me off.....wish we'd go CORN power & say to hell with all the over seas oil!
novamoation |
You will not see corm power until they can keep the cost UP. This is just the conditioning phase softening up the consumer so to say.
|
Yea, and don't buy gas today , like thats gonna do any good. On the news last night they showed people filling up so they wouldn't have to buy gas today.
My opinion, find out who is the big gas company ( Speedway here ) in your area and get a boycott to NOT buy gas from them for a few weeks. |
are we getting any benefits on oil prices in these countries our sons and daughters are dieing in ?????

everyone have their own thoughts for the gas prices. in 2005 diesel was priced 20 cents below regular. then it increased 20 cents above regular. now diesel is back to 20 cents below regular. seems like a little greed is taking over. average was about $3.00 dollars. about november came election time . fuel fell to about $2.00 per gallon. now it's at $3.00 again. could it be george and the boys
|
After the Presidential Campaigns are "funded" then maybe the prices will go down....:-)
|
It's more tied into fuel type ("winter" gas vs reg.), and budy drive times of the year. It'll skyrocket every spring, and it'll come back down around Labor Day.
I do find it interesting that I haven't heard anything about why diesel has come back down relative to regular. I heard the excuse about strict sulfur level controls causing the price jump last year.... so why has it come back down? (not complaining, just wondering!) They will always figure out some excuse, crude goes down , gas goes up, figure that one out.
|
Last year a barrel was 77 dollars and the price per gallon was in the low 2 dollar range. Now it's 63 a barrel and here in Ca. we're 31 cents away from 4.00 a gallon. Figure that one out.
I miss step. |
I should have filled up on the way to work this morning, it was $3.10. Now at noon it is up to $3.30. Oh well my luck, [:-unhappy-:]

These prices are really going to start effecting a lot of industry. If we have less money left to spend because of gas prices, eventually it is going to start making companies suffer. I don't think that anything will happen until the government steps in and regulates oil prices. I hate to say that, but how else can we keep this under control?
It is a scary thing when you own a business such as ours that relies on people having extra money to spend on engines. When those customers don't have an extra $100 or so per month because it is going in the oil companies back pocket, they can't spend it with us. This also goes for all other forms of entertainment. It is going to get real ugly if things don't change, and that really sucks. Jeff Day |
I just go back from getting my stuff ready for Norwalk $112.25 later I'm home with 4.5 gals race fuel (25 bucks) 73.25 in the truck & 14 dollars in 87 gas for the gen! Hey but what do ya do?

I HAD TO SELL MY MOTOR HOME,AT THE HIGH PRICE OF FUEL IT COST ME LESS TO USE MY TRUCK TO PULL THE CAR AND STAY IN A MOTEL

all of american stores are filled with goods made in china and india and elsewhere. they sure use alot of gas shipping this stuff back here to sell. and they tell us were using too much. corporate greed is causing the ecomic downfall. there nothing we can do....

Well, if nothing else it's nice to know that I'm not the only one that's extremely concerned about my racing plans for the year. I WAS planning on hitting quite a few events, but now that gas is up about a buck per gallon over the last couple of months, that may change. On average, I use about 160 to 180 gallons per trip in the motorhome for a weekend (that's on average a tow of about 360 miles one way, plus gas for the generator all weekend). That means it's now going to cost me about $160 to $180 more per weekend to race. Again, averaging out two races per month, and now I'm going to have to spend about $350 more per month to race. That's not an easy expense to cover when you're working for the man and have to support a wife and 3 kids....
I guess we'll see how the finances hold out, but I just might be doing more local bracket racing than I had planned. Now if I could only figure out a way to dump my motorhome without coming up with the $10K to pay off the remainder of the loan that I'd be short by selling it... Jason Oldfield S/G & S/ST 1838 |
Jason, i know exactly how you feel about the Motorhome, when i had to get rid of my Motorhome a few years back due to Heart Surgery, it cost me nearly $10,000 to get rid of it, thats why my wife says no more Rolling Homes.
If this gas gets higher and higher, i expect a lot of us will have to look at local racing, if we want to race. woodro josey I miss Buster Couch and Lex Dudas. |
Even local racin g is hard to do around here now (Nova Scotia Canada) I live about an hour from the second largest refinerey around, and 3 hours from the largest. Gas is 1.192/liter, which is 4.498 per US gallon for the low grade crap. I work in a garage/gas station, we make between 1-4 cents per liter, government gets 37%, and the remainder the oil company.
As someone on this boards signature says, despite the high cost of living, it remains popular! |
I gues we are lucky.. $ 2.79 a gallon
Bobby Brannon |
Check that price again in the morning Bobby, it went up 15 cents here today in Sulphur Springs Tx. from $2.74 to $2.89.
Jim Cimarolli |
up to 3.55 a gallon in the seattle area, up 40 some cents in the last month, second highest in the nation, three refinerys here and all our oil comes from alaska? go figure all that out? Fuel is and has been a comodity in this country for a along time and now it needs to be controlled by the government before exxon announces more record profits!
Terry Carp'e diem |
wow! tonight gas dropped from 3.79 to 3.73.
yea! Up yours Mr gas pump..... I miss step. |
I guess we are pretty lucky in the Buffalo NY are, between $3.03-$3.15 a gallon, not cheap by any stretch of the imagination!!!

as of yesterday all local stations are up 25-35 per gallon... guess they are "funding" thier defense eh ??????????? LOCAL ALERT : OHIO VALLEY RACEWAY $4500 COMBO JUNE 2ND. CAPTAIN JACK |
I am going to "enjoy" the current gas prices, as I firmly believe we will look back in a short time frame and yearn for the good 'ol days of $3.50/gallon gas.
I watched a round table discussion between T. Boone Pickens (oil baron) and Steve Forbes (Forbes magazine/ex-Pres hopeful) and they are convinced that gas is headed soon for $4-$5 /gal; it is a commodity that is being "bid up" by emerging world economies. Their "solution" to topping out at $5 is a rapid growth in nuclear plants to supply energy and ease gas/coal demands...they contend that American's need pain in the gas tank, rolling blackouts before the mood of the people will allow for construction of nuclear plants; if this doesn't happen in their professional opinion is that gas will go beyond $5/gal I didn't catch it clearly, but I guess Japan has a test nuclear plant that re -processes the waste on site. France (of all places) is 80+% nuclear as they have no oil/gas/coal resources. Just some thoughts Randall Klein |
i think we should get iraq,s oil...spoils of war......... you know

It's interesting to read the political Bla-Bla-Bla! Can't ya make these an instant link? |
Yes. You can.
We're screwed. $4.00 a gallon here we come. Oh, BTW: The local station dropped the price another 4 cents today for a total of a ten cent reduction in two days. Game playing jerks. I miss less greed. |
What a friggin game. A total of a TWENTY cent reduction in four days. !
Sure can't complain about reduced costs - but you know what I mean. Nonsense moves. I miss step. |
