Debate/difference of opinion
 

After being on here for about 10 years and over 3,000 posts I've come to the end of the line trying to put any ideas/opinions accross.
The fine art of debate is dead and buried.The country/world has become so polorized that there is no more common ground.Everybody has their own agenda and no amount
of convincing will change it.You see it here on Class Racer in the S/SS and Lounge areas every minute of every day.
My personal solution is to just read the posts on here and just resist the temptation to respond when I agree or disagree.
The eagerness to go racing in 2011 has been sucked from me by a lack of funds and
the extra "enhancements" both here now and coming.I' have a little project car to keep me busy till things improve financially and racing wise.
I hope there will be a sport to come back to that will welcome lower level participants.
I guess the final straw is the fact that it seems the consensus seems to be that we don't
need to know who is in charge of determining our racing destiny and the lack of finding out.
We're just supposed to be led down the road without question,leaving our money and
spirit behind us.
Well,I'm tired of this ***** and I'm voting with my almost empty wallet.
I have about 5,000 more things on my mind but I'm worn out from snow removal duty.
Ken,if you think this post is too negative for your taste you're welcome to zap it.

Ed,

No problems here, the post is fine. I know you are concerned the way things are going, and I do understand your frustration. I hate to see you not post on here, you have a certain way of pushing peoples buttons. Try not to take it to heart, something's in life you can't control. Sit back, chill out, have beer and forget the negatives, enjoy what you can when you can, life goes on.

Ed; say it ain't so.

I for one always enjoy reading what you have to say and value your opinions expressed on here.

As for the direction our racing community is headed, I do agree with you. Like you, I too don't have the level of excitement about going racing as I had in the past and plan on sitting out for another season, mainly because of family issues and somewhat due to the economy. With the direction that the "N" group is headed, which is the main venue that I participate in, sitting out for another season isn't such a hard decision. I hope there is still a venue to race in when times get turned around and I decide to race again.

Keep on posting your thoughts and ideas. I and I'm sure many others value what you have to say.

I never said I wasn't posting again.Just not getting involved in anymore pi$$ing contests
about rules,whatever.
I'll probably be a spectator at the local races.

Yeah, I knew you wouldn't quit when you're this close to Pete Rose's all time record of 4,256 posts ... or was that hits???

Anyway, I'm sure you and X will be voted into the Class Racer Hall of Fame on the first ballot. :)

it's not just this forum , you'll find pissing contests, debates, posters choosing sides, name calling, threats, etc.. on every message board about every topic on the net.

Get used to it, it's the 21st century and this is social networking at it's best.;)

As for who's in charge...I don't care, I'm just happy the tree huggers, liberals and socialists haven't shut down the NHRA yet and closed every race track.

I believe the snow has beaten him down. It is getting depressing with all this snow. How many days to spring and pitchers and catchers reporting to camp ?

Ed,

I always enjoy your thoughts whether I agree or not. I admire your courage to speak your mind. I have never raced in class, but I hope to soon. I do have a lot of history in Drag Racing and do not like how things are looking at the moment, but I will continue to go this direction, even though I will probably have a lot of the "new" cars in my class.

I find these types of forums seem to encourage a lot of what I call "sniping". My wife does this very well(she is Italian). This society does this a lot, but folks from our generation like the debate that you prefer. It is very hard for the "debate" to occur on forums because there are so many commenting from so many different "angles". We do tend to stray quite easily.

I agree with you 100%. I try to stay out of the conflicts.
I know all about the money troibles Ed as because of those I just sold my K/SA wagon for pennies on the dollar. I thought it was better than payin $150.00 a month to store it like I have for the past three years.
Some day I will return to the sport I love but only in the brackets. I hope I will be allowed to stay on Class Racer without a class car. :)

It's really easy to get into a pissing match when you're typing on a keyboard and not face to face with someone. I always get a kick out of your posts Ed. I find you have a wit which defuses the heat in the argument.

The boys and I enjoy your postings and agree with you the majority of the time, There are a few guys that will post rude and insulting stuff they would never say to you in person (At least more than once).....happens to me at least once a month. Please do not give up the ship yet ----- You have a lot of fans and friends on this site!

Ed I agree....I have a stocker....well I have 2 stockers......I have 3 stockers.... but I'm looking forward to "playing" with my Camaro this summer. I want to get a 13. second time slip out of it....(81 Z-28 performer 350 with Deano 800 10' converter 3.42 gears 28x9 Drag Radials driven to & from track)

Ed - All of us have been affected by the financial events of the last few years but you must also deal with the events of today -- so you're tired of clearing snow - so what - come on over here and you're snow will look like a picnic .I guess my point is that there is always someone else worse off than you - look at the brite side ..........you're seeing snow instead of grass roots ! ! !

If you're really bored you can help us out - forget your driveway - these pics will help you do that ..............

BTW - These pics were taken yesterday afternoon and its snowing again this morning .

Perfect weather for Skiing......and although I haven't done it for many years...it is a lot of fun. Even on a nice shallow Bunny Slope......

So Ed drive on out to Camel Back.....rent some stuff and have fun.....just put it on your Credit Card.....

It's way better than the mess we have here right now as we are up to our eyballs in rental equipment problems...........

Ed, my prescription would be 2 weeks in the Florida Keys. Maybe around Marathon with some day trips to Key West. Sit down in Sloppy Joes in the afternoon and have a couple of cold ones and think about all your friends up north. I believe it would do wonders for your outlook.

I'm trying.The towing business is dead here.Only openings for nights and weekends.
I don't think you would like to be out on one of our major highways at 3 AM hooking up a car.To say it's unnerving would be an understatement.
