I will try to convince a few of my racer friends to make the trek. This kind of race and local racer associations are going to be the way of the future for sportsmen racing I believe. Racers in the tri-state area should consider joining ASRA or ECSSSA. Good payouts and great people. Dan |
Re: $10K to win Stk/SS Race at Numidia
5 hours is not a bad trip, in my opinion. It's more like 9-10 hours for me. Gamblers Friday, S/SS Saturday morning, heard they're having a regular bracket race Saturday night, and then we can hit Beaver Springs on Sunday (hour and a half away... let me know if there's any interest, as I'm sure Beaver Bob would be happy to have us for a S/SS Combo on Sunday, and we can make a weekend 'swing' out of it. I know it's Mother's Day, but heck, bring her along! They even have a Mom's Eliminator racing for a diamond necklace that day)
Hey racers, think about it. This race could be even bigger if *you* make the commitment. Instead of just thinking about 128 cars for a S/SS, why not 128 Stock and 128 S/S? I've seen those kind of numbers just for a Divisional race. I see no reason why they couldn't draw that many cars for a $10K. Whatcha think, Lee and Brian? If we get enough cars can we run two complete separate eliminators, same entry/payout...? Could be the next big thing. Ultimately, that's up to the racers to come out and SUPPORT great races when they're offered. Thanks to Lee and Brian for putting this together! Looks like a GRREAT weekend! |
Re: $10K to win Stk/SS Race at Numidia
When Brian and I got together to discuss doing this , the first question was to make it 2 seperate races. But to do that we need the racers to support this. If we were to get enough I would love to do this but we have to wait and see. If this works our goal is to add more events, it's up to the racers to make this happen.
Looking forward to making this event the best it can be. Hope to see you all in May! S&W racecars is paying 100 to win an 50 to runner up ,and 100 certificate to whoever goes the farthest in eliminations with there decal on. Thank You Scott Weney at S&W Racecars Lee |
Re: $10K to win Stk/SS Race at Numidia
I'm crazy busy backed up with work as it is and don't need the advertising, but would like to support the race. I'll pay $100/Win, $50/RU in the main event. (Staging Light Graphics, min. $100 order)
I'll talk to my race promotions partner of the Fall Footbrake Frenzy III about doing something, too. |
Re: $10K to win Stk/SS Race at Numidia
We would like to thank Matt Welker and his law firm of White-Welker & Welker, LLC. They are putting up $50 for a long tow award. Thank you so much for the support Matt, it is support like this from the racers that will allow all of us to enjoy some great racing.

Re: $10K to win Stk/SS Race at Numidia
Thank you Brian & Lee for putting this race together.
This is what we need to do, & maybe have a couple of them thru out the year at different tracks if that's possible. Maybe Cecil County, Maple Grove, Atco, Englishtown or MIR. Hell, it will cost us almost $300. for a National Event anyway, & you have to put up with all of there nonsense. At least these types of races are just Sportsman Racers, so you don't have to deal with Top Fool & The other 3 ring circus'. What else is a Great thing, No tear down, No weight or fuel check. And it's a 1 day race. Love It... Pete Dutko 1374 I/SA |
Re: $10K to win Stk/SS Race at Numidia
Brian and Lee,
I would love to announce this race, I worked the Lucas Oil race at Numidia for ten years and also have announced many at MG during my tennure there from 2004 to 2007. Give me a call, 717-259-7996 or an email, mjbassin@verizon.net. This sounds like a top shelf event. It would be my pleasure to be a part of this race! Mike Bassin, track announcer Quarter Aces Drag-O-Way |
Re: $10K to win Stk/SS Race at Numidia
Bassin would be perfect for this race! Got my vote. First FMDRS announcer I ever heard... it was magic. Mike was unwittingly a contributor to my desire to go Stock Eliminator racing.

Mr. Beard, thanks for the kind words!

Re: $10K to win Stk/SS Race at Numidia
Brian and Lee this is a great idea, it is the vision that I think Walley Parks had once upon a time. If this go's over like i think it will, maybe more local track operators will take notice and ask us for events like this one at their track. Its time for the sportsman racers to take control of our on destiny, and move away for corporate GREED. We as racers really do not need much to make this become a reality. We own the equipment, all we really need is the Tech. inspector for stock and super stock. I am sure we as racers can pay the Tech. inspectors more than they are earning now. Let's all support this event in a big way and have one Helluva turn out by the racing community.

Re: $10K to win Stk/SS Race at Numidia
Talked with my race promotions partner Anthony Walton. We will award a "buy one, get one free" entry to the Fall Footbrake Frenzy III to the last remaining footbraked entry in the S/SS main event. (No transbrake or 2step, ties broken by R/T. Good for weekend entry or single race). The FFF is a big money Footbrake race held at Coastal Plains Dragway in Jacksonville, NC, Fri-Sat of Thanksgiving weekend. $5k on Friday, $20K and $5K double header on Saturday. www.staginglight.com/footbrake/

Re: $10K to win Stk/SS Race at Numidia
Well I had it all mapped out, only 812 miles from my house in Atlanta to Numidia, I was going... until I checked our family calender when I got home. We have a family commitment that I can't change....so to show my commitment and support for races like this ( I believe it's the future for class racing) I will personally offer the following:
$200.00 for the winner $100.00 for the runner up $50.00 for the longest tow Brian and Lee, great job I hope the pits are filled and overflowing, I will send you both a message with my contact info. I hope to be able to attend the next race. Glenn MacDonald SS/MA - 1066 |
Re: $10K to win Stk/SS Race at Numidia
Thank you Glenn,
If this race goes the way we hope we would like to do more. We have big plans but it will take the help of the Stock and Super Stock Racers. Also Thanks to Don Higgins at Crew Chief Pro Software.. They are giving a $100 dollar gift certificate for the first dead on with a zero winning run. |
Re: $10K to win Stk/SS Race at Numidia
Thank You to Gary Richard of PC Richard and Son.. They will be giving 5 $100 gift certificates.

Re: $10K to win Stk/SS Race at Numidia
You are welcome Lee, I am like most of the racers on this forum.. on a budget, all I did was drop a national event entry fee from my budget and give the entry fee to a S/SS combo race. I issue a challenge to all S/SS racers to due the same, drop a National event this upcoming year and use your entry fees to support your local S/SS Associations.

Re: $10K to win Stk/SS Race at Numidia
We (Byron and I) will definitely be attending this race! This should be a very well attended race, since there is nothing else going on that weekend!! If you, as a s/ss racer, don't show, shame on you! Especially as much as we are being "enhanced" by our other venue and as much as you, the racer, is complaining about it!!!
I'm just really excited to go back to Numidia for a SS race! Hopefully, this will help the track owner gain interest in having a LODRS race here again! |
Re: $10K to win Stk/SS Race at Numidia
Just got the website up everyone. We will continually update it with the entry list and the list of sponsors and gifts and prizes. Check it out www.sportsmanpromotions.net

Re: $10K to win Stk/SS Race at Numidia
I would also like to thank :Honda Of Kingston,,,They are posting an extra $500 dollars !!! Also if anyone is on the fence about buying a Honda do not forget the Moreheads and Honda Of Kingston..They will deliver the car or Suv to the track to take home after a Great day of racing.
Thank you Ronnie, Lincoln and the whole Morehead Family!!! Lee |
Re: $10K to win Stk/SS Race at Numidia
Really hope this thing takes off and is successfull. I have always thought that if I ever won a lottery I would spend some big-bank not on a fuel race, but a giant Super Stock show somewhere in the middle of the country. Everytime I leave the confines of Alabama and go into a state that sells lottery tickets, I buy 'em.
Anyways, thanks to all the folks involved in this deal, been a longtime coming for the SS and Stk community. SuperStocks@LionsDragStrip |
Re: $10K to win Stk/SS Race at Numidia
I thought free publicity wouldn't hurt either:
A $10,000 to win Stock/Super Stock race this year? The Agent found a note scribbled on the back of an old NHRA run card in the mayo jar this morning about the possibility of a Stock/Super Stock race put on by racers for racers later this year at Numidia Dragway in Pennsylvania. Brian Van Poppel and Lee Zane are in the process of putting together a Stock/Super Stock combo race that, with enough entries, will pay $10,000 to win. The race is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, May 7. If this works the organizers plan on doing a few every year. If you would like more information the organizers can be reached at sportsmanpromotions@ |
Re: $10K to win Stk/SS Race at Numidia
I talked to Bob Dimino yesterday about the big 10k Stock / Super Stock race being contested at Numidia Dragway on Sat. May 7th. I will be announcing this great event. I'm looking forward to it in a big way. A big thanks for Lee Zane and Brian Van Poppel for putting this race together. The sponsors that are coming onboard will just make this even better. I will promote all those that are providing sponsor support for this race over the PA all day long, feel free to give me info about the products and services your business provides. Dave Ley will also attend, he will come up and share the mike at times and share his knowledge of Stock / Super Stock. My email address mjbassin@verizon.net Home # 717-259-7996, best time to call, late afternoon or early evening.

Re: $10K to win Stk/SS Race at Numidia
Brian,
I'll pay $100 to anyone who attended 3 ASRA events last year or is a new member of the ASRA who is a semi-final round loser-I figure the guys who make it to the finals will take home enough money-they not getting mine, but the guys who go out in the semis could use a bit more scratch. I did this for the ASRA guys at the US Class Nationals in 2001, but nobody collected. Dave |
Re: $10K to win Stk/SS Race at Numidia
If anyone is interested in posting awards for this event, please email Brian or Lee at
