Next weekend looks good. Let's do it then. I need some 1500' or better air.

:-( It's up to 60% chance of rain on Friday........:-(

Anybody talk to Div 4 HQ's. I remember being stuck up to the axle there once before. 95% of the pits are just a farmers old corn field, Dick Lux had to hire 4 wreckers to get his rig out. I doubt that the turn out will be very much considering the huge chance of rain, and once it does rain it will stay like a bog for several days. Been there done that.

I'm with you Jeff, next weekend sounds a bunch better.

Later RJ

Up to 80% for Friday now. If you want a drought to end just have a drag race. Better than a rain dance.

After watching all forecasting services for the last three days, we've pulled the plug on going (2 SS, 1 Stock), cars loaded, bags packed; We were leaving after work today...axle deep in red clay....been there done that

Here's hoping you guys get it in; we'll have to watch on DRC

Re: Noble Weather ?

We actually had enough sprinkles today around 5:00 PM to cut some of the dust.

I thought about asking for a water truck to come by, but with the forecast for tomorrow, I decided that might remedy the dust problem.

We did hear that the weather is supposed to clear by noon tomorrow.

But here at 9:00PM Thursday, there is no rain yet.

I pulled the plug on Wed...it wasn't the rain in Noble. It was the 1" of water in my kitchen due to hotwater heater. Major damage... pocketbook too. Maybe next time.

6:00 am here, and it's very wet outside. Lot's of thunder last night. Hope we get it in.

Just found the local weather forecast on TV. 80% for rain with heavy winds & hail possible. Rats!

Sitting here this morning watching the local and national forecast...... todays isn't looking real good, Saturday looks decent, Sunday looks good.
Most of the forecasts are showing it all out of here by later on this evening.

We woke to rain, and it stopped. We got to the track, and they were drying the track... Then it rained again... And then it stopped. And then it rained really hard...

Here are some pics before the most recent rains..

Jet Dryer? We don't need no stinkin' Jet Dryer.....

Parking areas....

Motorcycle pits or Pontoon Boat Parking

http://www.webchamps.com/test/motorcyclepits.jpg

But wait..... it is about 1:00 and they just sent the hair dryer behind the tractor back out on to the track... So who knows what happens next. We were all set to head back to the hotel, but apparently we will get our feet wet again today...

And then there was more rain.

And then it stopped again.

And then there was more rain....

There is no way without helicopters or real jet dryers drying the track that it will be ready before tomorrow....

Nice afternoon for a nap though...

That radar shot is intimidating...could be bad news for racers in the points chase with 2 divisionals yet to claim (or improve on).

from DRC

NOBLE, Okla. - 8:32 a.m. - We are not getting off to a good start today (Saturday).
The track crew was putting the finishing touches to the track when it started sprinkling just a few minutes ago.

Now the tree line at the end of the track is graying out and the wind is picking up.

Weather radar shows a long line of storm activity coming up I-44 from Lawton.

Stay tuned, we'll let you know when it looks like we'll start racing instead of weather watching

Re: Noble Weather ?

From DRC

NOBLE, Okla. - 11:30 a.m. - It's still wet and gloomy at Thunder Valley Raceway. The rain has stopped several times, but not for long.
As recently as Thursday, weather forecasts showed rain Friday, but only a slight chance of rain today and even less on Sunday.

The likelihoof of rain Friday kept increasing, then they started raising the likelihood of rain today, and now the weather forecasts are pushing the end of the rain out to later in the day today. However, even if it stopped right now we wouldn't get much racing in before fog and dew shut things down this evening.

This is the last Division 4 race of the year and many of the racers are already entered in the Las Vegas race next weekend (not to mention the Oklohoma University football home game, also next weekend). With those facts as "given," this race must be completed this weekend, even if it means racing on Monday in order to finish.

Another concern is for those Sportsman categories parked "beyond the pavement."

Those cars are safe and dry inside their trailers now, but the unpaved parking areas are saturated and will turn into mud bogs if the cars move to the lanes and back to their trailers a few times.

In order to prevent that from happening, the race may be run in two segments: first, the categories parked on the pavement; then clear them out and move the others onto the pavement so they can race.

That's not the way anyone wanted to run this race, but sometimes Mother Nature eliminates all the attractive options.

No schedule changes yet; no need for those until it actually stops raining and the weather "freight train" moves east of here. For now, it's still "wait and see."

John Kelley 10-23-2010 01:17 PM

Re: Noble Weather ?

DRC is saying the race MUST be finished this weekend even if they have to race on Monday !
And Monday will be WINDY !!
This is going to be a MESS !! With a bunch of people parked in the mud & muck......
so sad for the guys that had a long distance to travel to get there...

BobUnkefer 10-23-2010 01:43 PM

Re: Noble Weather ?

Reveised, revised schedule.....

Sunday
Comp, T/S, T/D, Motorcycles, TAD & TAFC will have 1 qualifying round in the morning and then go straight into eliminations and run to completion tomorrow.

Once those cars have been eliminated they have been asked to leave and vacate the hard surface pit areas so that we can move Stk, SS, S/ST, S/G & S/C to the hard surface pit area.

Stk, SS, S/ST, S/G & S/c will get one hit Monday morning and then go straight into elims and run to completion on Monday.

With conditions being what they are, it's an unenviable, no win situation. And believe me, there has been alot of discussion and consternation in making the decision to do it this way.

Google ran their Street View car inside the Thunder Valley property. You can practice traveling up and down the return road on a nice sunny day.

The return road is listed as 48 th street... wow, I wonder if Oklahoma built that street?
It's nice to see it dry. Sure glad I'm in the dry, warm place called home.

7:25 radar looks good for you guys in Noble. Looks like we have the weather/showers you were having yesterday here in Arkansas. I just woke up to the pitter patter of rain. Good luck, Hope all stays clear and you guys get the race in the books.
