OK, so I'm not there yet but I figured the latest weather postings are a good thing for some of you folks coming in from far away .

Yes , I believed the wrong weatherman earlier this week but he was partially right - yesterday afternoon and today are just beautiful examples of nice , sunny Fall days .

That said Atco is known for record breaking numbers but here's a new one - tomorrow they could see between 4 and 6 inches of rain as the storm goes up the coast .But it is to clear out late Thursday and dry up as both Friday and Saturday are to be breezy .Sunday is expected to be as they say "Chamber of Commerce" type weather - blue skies and sunny .Bring your blankets as temps at night will around fifty with daytime at high sixties .

Stay tuned -- ClassRacer will be there for you ..................

Haven't looked at the hourly forecast for tomorrow yet, but it is currently cool and raining steadily here in North Carolina. Hopefully I can leave late enough tomorrow to follow *behind* the storm system on the way up instead of driving with the cloud following directly above me the entire trip.

Anybody else flying solo this weekend that would like to go half-zies on a hotel?

I hope to get there by around noon tomorrow, so I get a decent choice of water front property to chose from. I know the asphalt will be already full or at least roped off by then!!!!!

Taking my DF/S '85 Turismo. Figure it's easier to sell if I actually get it out in front of people. The car's been really good. Got a bracket race win and a S/SS Combo semi with it this year! :D

Remember Michael we race on the whole track up here not half of it.
Will that thing make it that far? LOL!!
Good luck

It sure will. Finished #11 in NHRA Div. 1 Stock my rookie year in the car, without even getting all my points claims in, and that's a decade before Billy Nees made it .30 quicker and a much more consistent piece. Ran it 1/4-mile at Fayetteville and Rockingham last year as well. Wish I could get *more* gear in it, actually! Thanks for checking. :D

My nephew Ron Infantino just parked with my partner Steve. Ron says about 40 cars parked already. Not too crowded yet but anyone coming in the back way will hit some construction about two miles from the track. Only one lane open. They sat for 30 minutes.FYI. Thanks Joe Fasano.

Jack,
Great to hear from you and yes I know who Sally Star was- I watched Her on TV in the late 50's and 60's just after Howdy Duty ! Sure gave away my age there.
I grew up in Audubon NJ before I left to explore the world.
Clouding up pretty good now !

Tom,

If your coming from route 73, your okay. If coming from route 206, then you will hit construction.

Re: Live from Atco , NJ - NHRA Lucas Oil Series

Just got back from the track, the inside parking (past the gate) is about 70 to 80% full. Still some open spots past the speed shop by the sign but that maybe taken by now. On the outside part where the lone piece of asphalt is the trucks facing the gate is pretty much all taken up. Up against the old wooden grandstands are empty and nobody has braved to park in the dirt just yet. See everybody Friday and hopefully everyone brought their boat and a rain jacket for Thursday cause it's looking UGLY!!

Since my over paid live reported is missing in action, I will give everyone a quick update on today's test and tune. I don't see it happening, it just started to rain again as I shot this picture of a warm and cloudy morning and the rain had stop for about an hour.

As soon as I walk into the MH is started to rain again.

The local weather calls for Friday clearing and a nice, but windy weekend.

Not looking good .It has been raining steady and mostly hard for the last 3 days and our weatherman here on east coast of N.C says it is heading north. If you get anything close to what we have had here you will need a ship ,not a boat. (roads flooding and ponds and rivers starting to come onto some of our roads) Hope the weatherman is wrong so you guys can get in the race and send pics and gossip as usual..... and good luck to all....keep us updated........

Re: Live from Atco , NJ - NHRA Lucas Oil Series

Weather map looks nasty. I'm sure we can still race if there's no issues with standing water, but the Weather Channel is saying rain til 9am Fri, so I think a late start is likely. I'm going to leave as late as possible -- probably just drive 6 hrs tonight and finish the trip in the morning.

Yea, that would be good, save us some extra aggravation, I will not make the trip down there and park the rig in the mud for a weekend.

Wow - I'm MIA a little this morning and Sal got his shorts in a bunch - don't spend all of your pay just yet - Anyway I made it thru accidents and big rain and winds - then I got into New Jersey and nothing - nada - zip - zero ...........but its coming for sure as its getting darker by the minute and the winds are picking up.

As most of you already know activities are not going to start today in any form but tech is being done as I type - and as my pics will clearly show they are doing house calls - for everyone - thanks NHRA for that - its nice not to have to drag your stuff out on an ugly day .

Lets talk a little about parking - the asphalt here is full .Why ?? Because they finally got smart and put a nix on saving multiple spots days before the event starts -- thanks Joe Sway and Co. Bad news is the sand lot is ugly and with the bad weather coming in it won't be pretty .

I'm goin' out for a walk and some fresh air ..............more later .

My experience with the parking issue at the spring Lucas race was not good. No one really giving you any direction as to where to go in the dark. Basically just telling me to park anywhere I could find a spot and when I expressed my concern for where I was being told to go because I could not find anything.....I was insulted as being to picky. I tried to explain I have a dragster and not a VW Beetle! The guy was rude plain and simple.......

There were spots roped off and I did not want to take someone elses spot......MR Rude just stuck me in someones previously roped off spot and kicked their stuff out of the way.......

Joe runs a great track and is a great guy but that little episode was uncalled for......Once I had a few beers, I forgot about it and had a good race weekend.....

Appreciate any updates on the parking - was planning on coming in late tonight for a "prime spot" in the sand, but if its washed out, I'll wait until tomorrow...

Sal, thanks for the updates, while Jack was sleeping you were out there for the people, us common folk, little guy racers. Jack reports for the stars like Labrque and his posse of racers.

Sorry Jack work is slow and I need to stir it up a little.

The worst of the storm is to be between 4 and 8pm - when it stops i'll take a strohl out to the "dunes" and see what it looks like ..............

No problem here Joe , and by the way i've saved you a choice pit spot -- it'll be just you and the 'gators - and its a long walk to the bar ..........

No, not this weekend. I'm considering maybe going to the Dutch to watch. Otherwise, I'll be home until the $2K to win S/SS race at Hagerstown November 6-7.

Jack,
Keep us posted on the condition of the pits if you are still around tonight. Still deciding if coming down is a good idea.

Parking, Parking, Parking com'on racers it isn't where you park, it is where you finish ! ! !

It's Atco and it is , what it is, get there early weds or . . . take what you get. The last race I won (epping ihra national 3yrs ago) I had a spot the other side of the scale in the trap rock, I made it work ., got good at backing up from the scale.

Mother nature is not being kind today and tonight at atco and that stinks, if I show, saturday morning will be it, that way it will dry out some , , 1 time trial will have to do.

At least those of you that are there can have a soda, drink, beer at the bar tonight, wish I could join you.

Joe D , next time you visit Jack or LaBrecque and his posse , I would suggest that you watch yourself, let's just say , have your belt on tight, they have been known to "Pants" many an unsuspecting person and I believe they owe you one. and don't drop the soap either if you know what I mean.
