"Live" from Indy! 2010
 

Well, we are not quite there yet. We spent the night at Walmart in Columbus, IN after we talked with Mike and Paula and found that there wasn't anymore room at the track. They should have opened the gates for staging a few minutes ago, so maybe the first rush will be over. We should be there within the hour. I have some more pics to put on the Bowling Green thread after we get parked.

We are here!!! The Greatest Show on Earth! We are #74 and just pulled straight in and parked out in the grass. It is hot here and muggy. Thank goodness for air conditioning!

We did not see any police until we got into Indy. There were 2 that had a semi and the other a car pulled over. We did see some state police when we got off on Crawfordsville Road, but they were just sitting. Do be careful of the speed limit on 465. There is construction and the speed limit is 45. They were not working on the road, so traffic was moving fine.

Well, Larry is cooking us a pizza on the grill, so after we eat, I will see who is here. Al Provoast is here, towing Patrick Downing's car. Thanks Al and Bev for the tomatoes and other veggies. Homegrown!!

well my indy 2010 starts off on a sour note as the transmission went out in the nitro lounge, its a turbo 400 so anybody that can help me out rebuilding it in the pit would be much appreseated , biggest thing is getting it there. I'm at the 104 mile marker in a home depot parking lot, my dad went on to the track to get roger Weavers truck and hook on to the trailer, mean time im changing fluided and filter and letting it cool down hoping i can labor it into the track. hopefully it works.

Well there are now around 170 rigs in staging. Supposedly we are to begin parking at 8 in the morning. They are already parking in the other field to the back now. Here are a couple of pics from this afternoon.

They started parking us about 10:30, but it is not going very quickly. I have only seen Redman and Wallace. Seems like NHRA could afford a couple of extra guys to help with parking for 1 day at least. Rumor was NHRA let all the local guys go and are using only their guys.

What entrance would I use if I get there tomorrow afternoon?
about 3pm if all goes well.

Do they park according to class? We are S/Comp this year and I would guess we are probably parking about 1/2 way to Brownsburg..;-)

Any info will be helpful, first time to race at US Nationals but I have weatched a lot of them.

Well we are in and parked. We are along the fence over next to the track. There wasn't anybody here except Mike & Paula when we got in. We are on up from Gate 8. Come on by and see us.

Jok, I would think you would still come in the Main Gate off Crawfordsville Road if you get here on Tues. I will ask Redman after we get the golf cart unloaded and let you know.

Thanks to both of you for your time in taking pictures and posting. It's great for the sport for ya'll to take your time to help us enjoy the show. Good luck and hopefully it'll be a class win and on to the eliminator crown. Look forward to the next week. Wish I was there for this week and taking pictures.

Well, they are up to about #130 parking. Looks like a few improvements here this year. They have paved the intersection down by the teardown barn and repaved the corner by the bowl. The fence has come down by the first section where the pro-mods park.

Jok, people arriving on Tues. will still come in the Main Gate. After Wed, it would be Gate 8.

I think they have stopped parking for the evening. They parked everyone who was in the first field. Now they are filling up that field again. Here are a couple of shots from today:

Do you know if there is a third qualifing round on Thursday morning before class eliminations begin? The nhra site has the first round of class at 8:00 AM on Thursday morning. That slot has traditionally been for the third round of qualifing for Stock.

Well it is sunny and hot! We have been down in the tech line since about 9:30 and we were late getting there. I just came back to the motorhome to get water and gatorade and took it back to Larry. I took lots of pictures, so I will work on getting them posted. They are still parking the rigs that were here yesterday.

Thanks for all the photos. Try and get some pictures of all the pretty Mopars! My sick beagle Mr. Beasley is there in spirt .....enjoy the best car show on earth....it will be interesting to see what Q-1 brings in the AM.
