live from Cecil County-NHRA Lucas Oil Series
After a short 2 1/2 hour drive I 've been pitted and its a far drive to the starting line ... must be a lot of folks here already .Today is to be test n tune day but at this moment (1:15) not one car has been down the track .Many were waiting to see how the track is after they ground it down this week .............I'll be back with some pics .

OK - my bad -- Test n Tune isn't to start until 3pm lasting to 9pm -- guess I can't read . Anyway with tech out of the way not much to do until things get rolling .
While in tech I ran into Sherwood Allen with his grandson, Michael in tow -- the next generation of S/S drivers ? Cute kid ........... Opps -- Almost forgot -- the big guy next to Michael Jr. is our own Dave Ley working the tech lines . |

Hey Jack, is there anyone there you know that knows Onan diesel generators??? Joe Franco is having problems getting his to run in his motorhome.
|
Re: live from Cecil County-NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Stefan - Matt Shurman is here -- he's the resident Onan expert .I'm not sure but I think he went for Crabs tonight (somehow that doesn't sound right ) .
|
Re: live from Cecil County-NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Matt Schurman can take a look I'm sure. He should be there probably by now or soon. We fix them all the time......Diesels, gas, whatever you have we work on them all............Matt has a S/G Beretta.....Jack knows him and should be able to help Joe find Matt......
You are right Jack.....I heard there was a crabfest planned out last week at the Masga race for this weeks race.....Life is good down there.....It's pretty good here to......beer, chips and the Yankees are on...(replay of todays gameand I already know they won) |
Re: live from Cecil County-NHRA Lucas Oil Series
you probobly already know this. but is there enough fuel in the rv? most gens. won't run with less than a 1/4 tank.

Friday 6:45 AM -- Talk about a pretty morning - this is it ! The Sun is just coming up and we are close enough to the Atlantic Ocean to get a whiff of the salt breeze .Last evening it was humid bigtime as there were many generators running all night keeping the air conditioners electrified but today its much milder for sure.It is already 72 degrees and is supposed to hit ninty today -- barometer is 29.52 but we're past 2000 feet DA even at this early hour .
In the first of the photos below is "Camp Glick" - where even the NHRA officials are camping with us now .I just knew this camping out thing would catch on ......... While out taking photos this morning I ran into some campers - one asked if I saw how pretty the Moon was last night -- my answer - "My gazing at the Moon days are over thank you " -- let me tell you that's the cleaned-up version .Must have been some serious partying last night - some of those folks looked pretty rough this morning . My big night ? I have zero TV reception - nada -zip- zero ........not even PBS so I just turned in early .Later............ |
Re: live from Cecil County-NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Stock got out a little after 10am but it was already 85 degrees /47% and a DA of almost 3000 feet -- most went well in spite of the weather -- I'll post something after the sheets are out .Most drivers I spoke with are satisfied with the track and its new surface after the grinding .Later .........

Re: live from Cecil County-NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Good morning -- Today doesn't seem to be nearly the day yesterday was - here it is 7am and not much sunshine and the temp much lower - hopefully the overcast will burn off .
In conversations I had last evening at Uncle Bucks' ( yes ,Uncle Buck had a little get together last evening with not one but two giant smokers - but thats a story for another time ) most racers were satisfied the NHRA and Cecil County were doing everything they could to give us a good track - yes a bunch of cars spun yesterday but you have to remember it is August and the Sun was beating down hard on the track yesterday afternoon so at times it became a little slippery - but they did try hard to keep up with it .Ask anyone who made one of the clean-up runs after the Sun went down - the place had teeth . This reporter was one of those who went out around 7:45pm and had his best 60' of the weekend . I'll be back after our final time trial of the weekend later this morning - opps , one last thing-- because of possible bad weather coming tomorrow we are to race at least two rounds of everything today and possibly more -- stay tuned ............... |

Re: live from Cecil County-NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Here's the skinny - Stock will be called around 12:30 for rd 1 - SS just after .We will run at least 3 rounds today as bad weather is headed for us Sunday .Looks like only one heads-up C/SA -- Bubba v Allison . Interesting match-up -- Meile AA/SA v Cokinos P/S -big head start.
Total of 103 cars made the call in Stock this morning -- S/S out on the track now - count in the mid seventies ..........total of cars on the grounds -- almost 500 - not bad for these times - oh and there are 9 Pro Stock Sleds here . |
All times are GMT -4. The time now is 08:27 AM. |
