A stick Challenge 2010- INDY

Hi Racers. This is the time of year that we all start gathering our stuff together for INDY!

As you may recall, I have informally organized the A stick Challenge to highlight the coolest cars in the eliminator in my opinion.

I have been fortunate enough to get some real great support from grass roots racers on up to some corp support.

I would like to do it again this year!

I will make participant shirts and am considering a " supporter" shirt to help raise $$$ add to the pot a little.

Keep in mind, I will administer any donations and contingent items with no fees or compensation. It is not to make a profit, but just to help support class racing. If you get them to me, I can take care of that.

It is a small gesture, but it seemed appreciated by the racers. These A stick Cars are harder on stuff than most classes. IT is nice to pay it forward for the show. If anyone has watched Jason McCormack run this year, you know what I am talking about!

Thanks to Ken and Classracer.com for supporting the A stick Challenge. Without this forum, it would be impossible to reach so many racers!

I welcome any ideas and donations. They add up and are a nice way to show support.

My contact info is jimschaechter@earthlink.net

P.S. I do occassionally get suggestions to sponsor other classes. No offense to other classes since I run in other ones too. I just picked this one as my favorite. If you have an idea to sponsor a class, I would be happy to share what I have learned so that you can do the same.

Thanks. Jim

can any of the new cars still fit A?

Re: A stick Challenge 2010- INDY

Drag Paks can. I think the 2010 CJ can. The 2008 CJ convert can.

I only know of one stick DP car and it has an auto in it now.

Ronzello could run A

Skillman is entered in A, but usually enters AA.

Some of that won't shake out until Tech at Indy when they declare the class they will run in.

Re: A stick Challenge 2010- INDY

Not for sure how many will show with the new cars that may show up! Old cars, I'm sure Jason will be there but the rest (?) not sure. I know one thats bad fast but he knows he cant keep up with these new cars. I talked to him at Columbus and he said he propably wouldnt go in A. So there may be only one or two cars entered in A in my opinion? Not much of a show!!!

Re: A stick Challenge 2010- INDY

Thanks for the great support so far! Keep it coming!
Ross McComb from QT and Tim Ryherd from The CarShop inc will award a new QT bellhousing to the winner!

I just pulled in to the div 5 natl open and am doing this on my crackberry. I will clean up the list when I return to my computer at home.

Junior, you need to buck up little camper! I am trying to do something positive why don't you get your wallet out for the show and give these A stick guys some love instead of pooping in my oatmeal!

BTW, Helms is coming in A stick also.

Re: A stick Challenge 2010- INDY

lol

James, I DO hope there is a good turnout, and I will be there to watch regardless!! I'm still a little frustrated with the NHRA for the POOR A** factoring they have done with some of these new cars! I dont race in this class so why should I even care? Because it is not right! Maybe McClanahan will come and make the new boys show what they really have!!! One can only hope

No more pooping on your oatmeal !! A/S truely is a thrill to watch

James, I just checked the Classification guide; the 2008 CJ stick convertible has a factor of 7.41 effective 7/6/10, therefore it can only run AA which means Ronzello can only run AA.
The 2008 CJ automatic convertible has a factor of 7.57; it can drop down to A.
The 2010 CJ stick coupe is factored at 7.54, and the convertible is at 7.83 making them natural AA cars, so they can drop down to A.
Hope this helps.

Re: A stick Challenge 2010- INDY

Thanks Bill. I have heard from Jimmy Ronzello. He is not entering A stick. Not sure on the others, but time will tell.

Getting some great support! The winner could be in line for almost $1,000 including cash and donated services /parts!

That kind of incentive is awesome!!! Just getting started too! The donations really add up and are appreciated!

Can Martens and Bednaz get into "A" with their cars?

Re: A stick Challenge 2010- INDY

Yes, but they do not typically run A. It would be great to see more cars jump in.

I thoroughly enjoyed the 2008 A stick challenge, and I expect to enjoy this year's edition even more! Being from D-1, one of my favorite A stick cars is Rich Adkins 428 Shelby Mustang. I haven't seen him at any races this year, National or Divisional; does anyone have any info on Rich.
I will be at the track before the gates open on Wednesday Sept. 1; will see you all there!

Larry I haven't looked yet but how many horsepower is your combo reduced when you pit a manual trans in it? I guess I can find out faster than you can respond....let's race! ;) The truck too! Did you know I have a machine shop out here now? Two Fadal' s and a old Mori Seiki t5 Fanuc control lathe....

I had no intention of going to Indy this year, but man are you making it tempting. Regardless of what class you pick, this is and has been a great contribution to our sport. Thank You Jim

Re: A stick Challenge 2010- INDY

Dave, I saw you running 10.00s at Belle Rose like it was in bracket mode. You should come on over!

Take a look at the top post, I keep adding to it.

What's it gonna take Dave? You heard him racers, let's keep the $$$ and prizes coming so we can see that BadA@@ Corvette at Indy!

Come on Dave......I will throw in an extra $50 bucks to make it a a $100 to win if you win with a Corvette. Anyone else want to match me? Love to see you kick the late models butts.

Jim, i'm interested in a couple supporter t-shirts if you decide to do them.
Ed, never ran in A before. Would be at a bigger dis-advantage if I did switch. Awfully tempting though.

Come on over Joe! The more the better! What the heck, let's go out and bang heads in A! It will be fun!

I heard some talk about McClanathan's LS car entering B? I would think that would be a great candidate for A if they make the trip. Anyone out there that can get the word to them? Those guys have nothing to be afraid of with that car that is for sure!

I have the design for the shirts. They will be any color you want as long as it is black! LOL.

Participants and Winner will receive a free shirt.

The supporter shirts will be available to purchase. I can ship them to you and or meet up with anyone at Indy to save any shipping costs. My buddy does them at his cost so he tries to bundle my order with others to get the best price on shirts. These will be in limited quantities and sizes. As soon as I get a price and details for anyone seeking supporter shirts, I will post that.

Here are what the designs are; they will have the stripe on the front and the class circle on the back:

It was really cool that you guys came and duked it out at Indy last year! You still have time to make it!

Hell, I will wrap it around a bellhousing for ya, nothing like some clutch dust to make a stick racer feel comfortable. :)
