Hey, div2 guys, the king is gone!
I hope he reads this. Bill Holt is retiring, I just wish he would have retired ten years ago! Other than show up, what did he do? What unique thoughts or ideas did he bring to the table to promote div 2. If I am wrong, show me what he did that was different. Are you glad he is gone, or do you wish he would stay?

I didnt have a long term knowledge of Bill and only met him on one occasion. He was great with/to both me and my father, our first NHRA sanctioned event with the Drag Pak. He made an effort to handle our provisional liscences with our fistfulls and garbage bag transported paperwork, timeslips and medical. crinkled and in disorder. He made an effort to help us and was truly kind, to both myself and my Father, my father even made comment on several occasions about how well he treated him the 1/2 hr or so they spent crouched in the trailer sorting the mess we had brought him. I dont know of any other perceptions, I didnt have dealings with him but on one occasion, so for me no others matter, but Id like to thank him for his help, kindness and assistance in getting us set to run at Atlanta , and Id like to apologize for the 13 quarts of Royal Purple 10w we left on his starting line, as well as assorted bits of engine, I was looking for a mop I truly was........... Enjoy the Retirment....... If anyone knows how long he will remain at Div 2 , I have a gift Id like to send him for his retirment, something to remeber our gratitude. A piece of that very engine left on the track that day......:D http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4066/...c2615307d2.jpg |

Re: Hey, div2 guys, the king is gone!
I think the time is right for me to run for DD. I have experience working for NHRA Tech, when at DeSoto Speedway, we won tech crew of the year twice in our first two years. I know alot of the technical personal already. They are a great bunch. Of course, all the NHRA people are really a bunch of nice people to begin with, I really mean that.
If I was to become a DD, I know that alot of people will be rather upset as I attempt to bring in different personal into the different departments, some well known individuals and some unheard of individuals. The list would include, Woodro Josey, Billy Nees, Albert Einswine, X-Techman, Don Himes, any true lover of Stock/Super Stock, Bullwinkle (he is honest), James Perrone, Ed O'Brien, Ed Fernandez, and Jack McCarthy (for unbiased opinions) and any Cajun Cook. Hey Bill Holt, even though I did not agree with you sometimes, thank you for your dedication and time, I really appreciate it, thank you. Ron Ortiz U/SA the future of tech. |

Re: Hey, div2 guys, the king is gone!
No Dave, no snow and just a small amount of ice, just the kind of heat that will melt you into the pavement! Jim
|
Re: Hey, div2 guys, the king is gone!
Jim , You mean the same kind of heat that we have been having here all summer so far. In fact it's actually been cooler in Fla. than it has been here. And we won't even mention the NJ humidity !

Re: Hey, div2 guys, the king is gone!
If I remember correctly what I read in ND, Bill is suppose to retire this month. Any word yet as to who will be the next Director, Dictator, Czar, King or what ever title you choose for Div. 2?
I have talked to 2 different people in the last week. One person told me that with the recent changes in management at Gainesville Raceway all the signs point to "Barney" being the new DD. Another person I spoke with said it definately will not be "Barney". I recieved my membership and competition # renewal notice today in the mail and I'm waiting to see how this plays out before I send in my money. Hey Dan Moore, you're #1. :D RIP Mark Graham |
Re: Hey, div2 guys, the king is gone!

Re: Hey, div2 guys, the king is gone!
Scott;
You are 1 up on me this year then. I haven't set foot near a race track since the Southern Stock/Super Stock race at OSW back in Dec. Things are starting to look better for the moment and hopefully it will continue into 2011 so I can take the car off of the jackstands and do some racing next year. Like I have said on other threads on this forum, the NHRA Div. 2 schedule is easier for me travel-wise and for taking time away from work, but I would have no problem running IHRA H/R. Depending on the outcome of the new DD thing I might just do that. Hey Dan Moore, you're #1. :D RIP Mark Graham |
