Hawk and Cook Brothers New CJ

Here are some pictures of the Hawk and Cook Brothers 2010 CJ project. Ken Keir is doing all the chassis fabrication.
Ken Keir is well known for building some of the best comp cars in the country, but he also specializes in Stock and Super Stock. The new CJ's and DP's and hopefully the new Camaro's are projects that Ken is very excited about. If your interested in quality, state of the art fabrication, give Ken a call. Re: Hawk and Cook Brothers New CJ
Ken, since Bill is building a new Ford 2010 does that mean that the specs. will change six times in a year. I wonder if the 1968 L88 Chevy carb will be allowed on the new "Crate Motor Ford".

Re: Hawk and Cook Brothers New CJ
Ken,
Do you know if they will still campaign the older mustang? the one that flies high? I'm sure the 2010 one will stay pretty glued to ground like all of the other 2009/2010's that I have seen. Hope to see you again in Charlotte in September. Butch the guy with the pictures. |
Re: Hawk and Cook Brothers New CJ
Larry, its better than that. I heard they can use1150 dominator, I hope its enough.
Butch, Bill will still be campaigning the 67. The new project will have a shoe behind the wheel (yet to be determined) to help it find the winner circle more often. I will be in Charlotte, make sure you stop by and say hello, the pictures you take are outstanding. |
Re: Hawk and Cook Brothers New CJ
Will they be running Stock or SS with the new CJ?

Re: Hawk and Cook Brothers New CJ
John,
This is a body in white along with exterior and interior kits. There were about 40 kits sold and they had to be pre order. Ford will being doing this again for the 2012 CJ. It makes it much easier to build with the body in white along with the kits. You get everything you need and nothing you don't, and I mean everything, trim, fasteners. You get everything to finish the car except drivetrain, which can be purchased separately. |
Re: Hawk and Cook Brothers New CJ
Ken, I have been talking to a small town Ford dealer that happens to have some connections with getting HP stuff ! So I'm told ! He, the owner a younger guy, has a new GT w/a 5.0 -412 HP coming and he plans on doing some road racing, as we only live 24 mi from Road America, and he's telling me about the possibility of rollers, race ready, less motor and trans ! I would like to see that one step further, as race ready with choice of engine, and trans, from top engine option for SS or Stk to say the V-6 for stk elim ! I guess if your going to wish, go for the whole thing ! I bought a whole bunch of FORD stock when it got down to 1.75 per,eh ha!!! That being said, I still really like the FORDS !John

Re: Hawk and Cook Brothers New CJ
This thread made me laugh in two ways...#1 Larry's reply about changing the specs 6 times and #2 The fact Bill Hawk will no doubt bomb this combo into superstock where it belongs. Thanks for putting a smile on MY face, indeed!

Re: Hawk and Cook Brothers New CJ
Hey Larry the throttle body on the new 428 cj is the same as what the DP's are. So the 850 carb will likely slow them down. Jason, dont get your hopes up of Hawk bombing it making it a super stock only car. I think most would agree that he was "worked" the system with the 67' car pretty well.

Re: Hawk and Cook Brothers New CJ
Kit cars and crate motors. Stock sure is changing.

Re: Hawk and Cook Brothers New CJ
I'm still amaized a 396 camaro rated at 400-405 beat Hawk in class at Indy last year...Dry ice may help reduce our runner volumes amonst other things but, Damn! I hope Hawk beats the crap out of that combo though I'm not to concerned about it.

Re: Hawk and Cook Brothers New CJ
The fumes are getting to you already. Last year at INDY, the wheelie bars broke on wed and we never made another pass. Maybe it was two years ago, that the honda short block 396 beat him. That's what im thinking.

Re: Hawk and Cook Brothers New CJ
The more things change, the more they stay the same...
RE: "You forgot.......Its not stock anymore.....Its what is accepted." Puts me in mind of the '55-'60 Hydro-equipped Chevy sedan deliveries that ran amock in the Stocker ranks from about 1965 'til NHRA pulled the plug on them sometime around 1971 (can't remember exactly when.) By tht time, they had virtually every Stock Class Record for automatics, from E/SA (???) down to N/SA.... using various years and engine combinations, the sheer variety of which, boggled the mind. A popular combo was the dual-quad, 270 HP 283 (Duntov cam, Stahl headers, Grumpy shortblock)... I remember the wife of the driver of the '60 Buick convertible called "Big Daddy" writing in the "Letters to the Editor" column that her husband, Russ Mathews, a Buick racer for many years, was giving up trying to outrun the sedan deliveries... Sad; and reminds me of the situation in A/SA today, with the owners/drivers of the once-feared 396/427 Camaros looking at the numbers that the bogus HP factor "new" CJ cars and DP Challengers are capable of. The argument that brought down the sedan deliveries was that no assembly-line Chevy passenger cars ever had been built with a Hydro. None... Not an assembly-line car, so it was not legal for "Stock." But, like the CJ's and DP's, they made hay for awhile with that 4-speed automatic... Took about 7 years to get that mess straightened out. Wonder how long it will take to fix this one??? |
