DP #24 Drooze, Mandie & Pop shooting for Vegas
1 Attachment(s)
After a long road and missing Houston Drag Pack #24 is back together and running right (at least we think). Drooze is on the entry list for Vegas. GPS says 32 hours until we get there.
Spent some time down at DIY Auto Tune in Atlanta getting some "upgrades". Goofed around a little with Russ. We're still wondering if we put the quarter in what would vend out... http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#%2...6&id=507459242http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#%2...6&id=507459242 But it's all good. We now have a lucky blue dragon mascot that sparks out of its mouth, courtesy of McDonalds and a Big Kids Meal! We don't know if we'll make it but we're all bound and determined to get there. Chris is having serious discussions with friends and family about where to rent Phoenix suit. |

Re: DP #24 Drooze, Mandie & Pop shooting for Vegas
Sounds like there will be one round of qualifying and then into class for the second and final round of qualifying.

Hey, here's an idea to help this poor fellow out, does anyone in the great state of Texas wanna tag along and help drive? Maybe he'll move some of his out of control backseat situation so he can sit back there and take a nap! (really, the back seat is out of control) I'm glad everyone is wishing them GOOD luck. They do in fact need it, and I think if things don't start going more smoothly around here I might throw myself out of the truck. LOL |

Re: DP #24 Drooze, Mandie & Pop shooting for Vegas
Well I'm from the great state of Texas and I'm in if you'll pay for my flight back to texas:D. Use a cattle prod to keep him awake, trust me it works. To run the race you have to tech the car in, then make a qualifying run. Sounds like the schedule is saying one round of qual. then straight into class. The first round of class will count towards qualifying, so if you can tech and make it by first round of class, your in. If you miss first round of class there is no way to make it on the qual. sheet and your out, thanks for coming. Good luck to ya'll, n keep plenty of redbull and yellowjackets on hand!

Re: DP #24 Drooze, Mandie & Pop shooting for Vegas
Go to the NHRA site...click on the schedules button...go to Full Throttle series and click...go down to the Las Vegas national event and click on run schedule...looks like you guys have til around noon to park, tech and get ready.
|
Re: DP #24 Drooze, Mandie & Pop shooting for Vegas
My understanding is that first round in class counts for qualifying ..... often we do not run the qualifying pass but use class eliminations for qualifying. Be sure weight and fuel are OK prior to run. We will leave the lights on for you guys.

Re: DP #24 Drooze, Mandie & Pop shooting for Vegas
Be careful and watch your speed...alot of 5 & 10 mph over speed limit tickets starting to be handed out in states that got funding cut and need the money. Truckers ought to be able to help you out getting through the bad areas. Good Luck.....

Re: DP #24 Drooze, Mandie & Pop shooting for Vegas
Hey chris, just get there safe and you pop and mandie have a great time. Good luck
|
Re: DP #24 Drooze, Mandie & Pop shooting for Vegas
There are 2 qualifying runs one at 8 AM and another at around 10:30 to 11. I would guess class around 1 PM. All subject to oil downs and other changes.....hope you guys make it !
|
Re: DP #24 Drooze, Mandie & Pop shooting for Vegas
Good Luck guys and stay safe.

Re: DP #24 Drooze, Mandie & Pop shooting for Vegas
I wish you all good luck too! Furthermore, I also hope that with those new Nevada towing restrictions, that you didn't have any problems getting into the state. The more I read about that mess on another thread, the more I love my mid-size Colorado & open trailer to pull my Cavalier around with. Fortunately even if I upgrade to the 5.3V8 option in either the extended or crew-cabs, my GCWR will be less than 10,000lbs!
Be safe (DRINK LOTS OF MOUNTAIN DEW DURING YOUR TRAVELS), have fun, and I hope Drooze goes some rounds too!!! :) |
Re: DP #24 Drooze, Mandie & Pop shooting for Vegas
Mandie, Welcome to the Zoo. Since you guys are going to be in Vegas with no event to run, have you guys considered "recharging your batteries there". You've heard the saying what happens in Vegas...Probably didn't happen to Drooze. I just ran my PC Milers, and it says that from Vegas it is 1235 miles to Dallas. There is a points meet there also next Friday to Sunday ,would be Apr 23 thru Apr 25. Once you guys get rested there in Vegas it is 1835 Miles back to Indy. Just a suggestion, ask the powers to be there to say in Vegas until about Monday and then take your time and get to Dallas about Wed P.M. or Thursday. Probably a Test and Tune day there on Thursday? Don't know if the big MOPAR hitters from La. will be there , but I would think that some of them are. Just a suggestion instead of another mad dash back Indy. Myron Stutes Columbus,Ohio X 3195 Stock

Re: DP #24 Drooze, Mandie & Pop shooting for Vegas
Thanks for the suggestion Myron...
Just talked to the road warriors, and they are still about 3 hours out of vegas....and Drooze thought he just had a flat tire.... Not that it will make much difference now... But if he has one, it will delay getting him and Mandie to a decent dinner after all of their fast food and gas station hot dogs.... So......... we will see if we can tech in tomorrow and maybe fall into a less than loaded field... Will make the call and see if than can happen... If not, Oh well, we will dump the nearly comatose Drooze into a a little red wagon and drag him around the pits on Saturday just to show that he really does exist.. David The New Hemi Guy |
Re: DP #24 Drooze, Mandie & Pop shooting for Vegas
Are you Kidding me ,Drooze drove all the way to vegas and isn't going to get there in time to make a Qualifying run.Dude if you aren't on the Qualifying sheet your not racing.
When he could have waited a week and run the Indy points meet. Thats a long drive to not get to race. All I can say is WOWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: DP #24 Drooze, Mandie & Pop shooting for Vegas
We rolled the dice..... and it doesnt look like it will work out.
Maybe we were too anxious to get the new engine combo out... but so be it... We will run somewhere some day and it will all be worth it. (actually we did qualify in Atlanta, and then blew up the next qua;ifying round...) so technically we have run, but a National Event was the plan. And we took our best shot... And he had to get here to pick me up. I have been here two weeks and if he doesnt get here soon to take me home, we wont have any racing money... David The New Hemi Guy |
Re: DP #24 Drooze, Mandie & Pop shooting for Vegas
If you guys leave on Sunday morning you should be able to get to Indy in time for the Division 3 lid lifter, which will have about 100 to 130 Stockers. Good luck. Mike

And the saga continues............................ Yawn!
|
Re: DP #24 Drooze, Mandie & Pop shooting for Vegas
Just a question? Why would you drive 2000 miles with a car that's basically untested to go to a national event where the chances of even getting there on time are not good?
|
Re: DP #24 Drooze, Mandie & Pop shooting for Vegas
Why ask Why.......
Because they can seems to be the answer...... We should be glad we are not paying the operating expenses on this endeavor...... |

are you thinking the same as me? yawn
Kenny, please send this thread to the lounge, lol |

Re: DP #24 Drooze, Mandie & Pop shooting for Vegas
Dave and Drooze, Looks like INdy weather is 50% at best right now according to what I have seen for the weather. Do not think that there is a test and tune at the Texas(Div4) on THursday. I still think that your best shot at making this road trip of some benefit would be to see if there is a test and tune there at Vegas on Monday after the event is over. It is 1235 miles from there to the Texas meet. It is 1835 miles back to Indy. Check the weather forecast for Texas for next week, and if looks good, you can test Vegas Monday and tkae your time if the car is right and take 3 days to run 1250 miles or about 425 miles give or take a day and not be dog tired when you get to a divisional meet next week. . So your not all the way home after the points meet is over next week end...your won't be home if you run Indy either. Pretty sure you would have another 300 mile haul from INdy to get home anyway. Just another idea.....You can make Texas a whole lot easier that Indy and still get the 30 points minimum. I'm pullin for you guys, just hate to see you beat yourselvs up and be dog tired at the race...be there, done that, sure isn't near as much fun, and you certainly aren't nearly as clear headed. More chances to make bad calls, or even worse not make a judgement call to do things that you need to be doing. Myron Stutes Columbus,Oh
