Here's an interesting stat! (thanks Nitro Joe)

SS 1183runs, 13 runs faster than -1.40 or .0109% (just more than one hundredth of one percent)
SS 1183 runs, 138 runs SLOWER than -.40 or .116% (just more than one TENTH of one percent)
Stock 1550 runs, 16 runs faster than-1.40 or.0103% (just more than one hundredth of one percent)
Stock 1550 runs, 122 SLOWER than -.40 or .078% (just less than eight hundredths of one percent)

What does this all mean? Even though they are very small numbers it means that NHRAs (supposed) plan to move the indexes .3 down will adversely affect ten times more people in SS and 7 times more people in Stock than moving the automatic HP threshold .15 will!
Just numbers! I wonder if NHRA ever looks at them though. Probably not, they don't have a bearing on their bottom line. Yet!

Maybe they should leave well enough alone!

Billy-- I'm a little behind in my reading as these posts are getting a bit long in the tooth but this math isn't working for me ---- at least you can tell we're paying attention ! !

SS 1183,138 runs-- should read -----------11.6 %

Stock 1550 runs -- should read --------7.8 %

My bad, move the decimal point 1 digit to the left! but the comparison is valid!

The problem is the cars that were -.40 are all small time low budget cars. And nobody want them around. Neither NHRA or the big dollar racers. You know the old saying Money talks. Seems to be at work here.

That would be correct, Vic.

What's a decimal point here or there, among friends? I wish all a Merry Christmas!

Joe,
It would be interesting to know the number of runs and % that are between 1.1 and 1.40. Those guys will be .80 to 1.10 after the change.
If the trigger is lowered to 1.00 the racers that fall between 1.00 and 1.1 in the new system will be in line for AHFS HP or index correction. That is another number you can give us stats for. That is probably a pretty large number. For a company that is struggling with the effects of recession and the number of employees falling, NHRA probably hasn't realized the amount of work they are creating for those few employees left. If the trigger is left at 1.15 it should be less paper work. Or could this be their way to "Thin the Herd"?? Hoping the -.40 racers just don't show up anymore.

Not all of those runs of - .4 or slower are all slow or low budget cars, they could be 1000' racers or racers that want to be at the bottom of qualifying ..

Re: Here's an interesting stat! (thanks Nitro Joe)

What's wrong with being a low budget racer? Why does nobody want us?

Re: Here's an interesting stat! (thanks Nitro Joe)

Chuck, I believe that Joe's stats are set up to show that drivers best run in that car. I can't imagine all of the qualifing runs and eliminations runs being 1000'!
