Oh Joy, we're back to the 1/8 th mile crap at Pittsburgh.....2 meets there save alot of travel, but 1/8th mile, I hope they paint a stripe on it,I can't seem to find the 1/8th mile marker.

Re: IHRA D-3 Schedule

Wasn't Pittsburgh a div 1 track for the first 5 years it held pro-ams? Div 3 guys that have to go back to Rockingham for the TOC May1-2 will have to be in Pittsburgh the following Friday? Off work Thursday thru Monday the week before and then turn around and be in PA by 8 am Friday?!! wtf? oh I know, I'm just a cry baby...

I see the second weekend is just 2 pro-ams, no Sportsnational and its contingency. What happened there?

Re: IHRA D-3 Schedule

It says TOC...that stands for Tournament of Champions I'm pretty sure that means it is a sports national.

Re: IHRA D-3 Schedule

It says on the IHRA site its an additional pro-am and TOC qualifying event. Not a sportsnational...

Having never raced IHRA except once @ Norwalk a few years ago, I am not sure what they call their series. Is this schedule for the divisionals or Nationals? Also, is the divisionals called Pro Am? Thanks

Can someone tell me why there are no more tracks in div 3? Why do we have to go to Pittsburg twice is there no more tracks, you cant tell me there are no tracks in IN,OH,KY, or MI that would not want to have a pro-am.

Re: IHRA D-3 Schedule

IHRA HAD BETTER GET THE TIMING SYSTEM FIXED AT PITTSBURGH, OR THERE WON'T BE ANYONE THERE FOR THE SECOND SET OF EVENTS. Last year there was some "hank-panky" going on with the system when they converted from 1/4 to 1/8th mile. We ran five times down the track, and our last run was identical to our second run with totally different atmospheric conditions...accordingly; we ran almost a tenth off our dial, and broke out. We talked to others who had similar results, and to the track officials, who had no explanation except "that's drag racing". They did say that they had installed their "Jr. dragster program" in the timing system and it had trouble adjusting to "real car" times that the fast "doorslammers" were running.
Hey Michael Beard, does that make any sense to you?

Re: IHRA D-3 Schedule

Ricky, there aren't any races in Michigan because there aren't any dragstrips in decent condition left here. US 131 is the only IHRA track I know of and it is a 4 hour hike for us. The only other decent track, Milan, is NHRA. However, I think there are a few really good tracks left in Ohio, Indiana, and Canada. Not sure why they aren't being used by the IHRA. Pittsburg will be a long haul for us, approx. 8 hours. Besides I am not really into the 1/8 mile stuff anyway.

What happened to the race at Thompson. It was a nice track and not a bad tow for the d-1 racers.

Re: IHRA D-3 Schedule

I am with you Ricky. I can't believe there aren't any other tracks that want a points meet, but I guess they just can't make it doing the double race weekends. I think they should let the pro-ams be on Fri and sat and let the tracks have a bracket race on Sunday to somewhat salvage their weekends.

I seriously doubt you will see me at Pittsburgh for that many races eithers even though it is by far the closest race for me. I can't get a handle on the lights there at all. They are set different for their regular bracket races.

It would help if Pittsburgh needs to count as a division race for div 1 also.

I liked Thompson too. last year, it was a little wet, but they should have tried it again.

Its not very close to me,but I agree with you on the lights and timing system in general.I think it has something to do with their "Accutime" timing system.

Thompson wasnt a bad track at all......I enjoyed it there! I was hoping Thompson or Quaker was back on the schedule.
As for Pittsburgh, that is my home track and the tree was so different/bad that weekend. They had many problems with whatever they did. I really hope its not the same this coming year.

I'd rather go to Pittsburgh than Skyview.....I think its not a bad schedule if they added Thompson instead of two Pittsburghs.( IT IS WHAT IT IS)!

Not to me, but evidently I don't have all the info.

The rollout is about .02 tighter on an Accutime than a Compulink. I've never heard a bad word about an Accutime. FWIW, the majority of TSI systems are about .02 looser than a Compulink, with exceptions being Thompson and US131.

I announced at Thompson this year, and had a great time. I think all things considered with the weather, the racers and staff did a great job of working with each other to make the program run smoothly. Didn't make it to Skyview this year, but went the year before, and loved the place.
