What a dilemma for me. last yr I entered knowing I had to work on fri, schedule had 2 time shots on thurs , 1or 2 on fri and 1st rd sat am. I took my 2 shots on thurs, they then moved 1st rd to fri and i had to miss the race. This year the schedule is the same , 2 shots thurs and fri with 1st rd on sat. Heres the rub, my daughter is graduating on fri evening and I obviouisly want to keep my wife and daughter happy and be there. Do I enter and hope they dont change the schedule or not enter? I know i'm gonna enter.

JKenny 04-24-2007 04:10 PM

Gary, I wouldn't count on first round being Saturday, no matter what the online schedule says. I would think they run it Friday.

Tom Goldman 04-24-2007 05:19 PM

No way I'm getting in with 4 grade points, daaamn

sg1838 04-25-2007 03:36 PM

S/St entry at Englishtown is a joke. It's been open for 4 1/2 hours now, and there's 44 of the 60 spots full already. S/C is almost as bad with 50 of 80 spots full. Just like the last couple of years, unless you have a grade point of 6 and register in the first 24 hours, you're not going to get in.

If NHRA can't have any more cars (which my experience is that can't because I saw first hand where people arriving late pit, and don't kid yourself thinking that Englishtown is COMPLETELY paved, because it isn't), for the one S/St event per year in Division 1, couldn't they eliminate another class to up the quota for S/St to 100 or so cars? They would EASILY fill that, and could probably easily go to 128 cars as well...

I feel sorry for all you Grade 5 people, who at this point it looks like you won't be going to E-town...

Tom Goldman 04-25-2007 05:36 PM

Jason, S/G and S/C are only getting 80 spots. .. Stock is not competing this year, That's 128 cars. ,, NHRA will not increase the size of the Super class fields when there is limited pit space and more importantly limited time in which to compete. ... The grade 6 entry is the only thing that NHRA does to reward racers who EARN a higher grade point. ... TOM

sg1838 04-25-2007 11:19 PM

Oh, I know Tom. It's unbelievable how few sports there are. That said, I can't say I'm sure why...did they reduce the total number compared to years past? 80 cars for S/G and S/C isn't alot, and given the popularity of S/S on the east coast I think 128 cars for S/S is reasonable. So, what's going on here?

So, the only way they'd be able to add more S/St cars is by eliminating another class. If this wasn't the only national event for S/St within 600 miles, I might feel differently. But to have one national event and to have it sell out in 24 hours is just rediculous...there isn't another class in another event for the entire year that's like this (though S/C this year at E-town is going to be close).

Of course, the REAL solution would be to run S/St at more than one event in the area, and drop it from another area where they don't get the participation, such as Atlanta. But, NHRA is hell-bent on the one national event per division thing for some reason...

It doesn't affect me either way as I wasn't getting in with my grade point regardless. I just feel sorry for all those grade point 5 people that won't get in (and the grade point 6 people that may not remember to register until Friday and will only find themselves shut out).

Good luck to everyone that did make it in!

12 spots left in Super Street! .......NO spots in S/C , all 80 spots GONE! .....41 left in S/G .. Good luck, Tom

sg1838 05-01-2007 10:57 PM

It's actually down to 11 in S/St now. Tomorrow morning at 11am should be interesting. I wonder how many people are NOT going to get in by a matter of milliseconds?

By the way, did you happen to see the whopping 9 cars entered in Comp where there's 55 spots reserved? I was going to say they'll probably open up some additional entries in S/St and S/C like they've done in the past once all the grade points have been released and they only have 30 Comp entries. But, upon thinking more clearly, that probably won't happen...

Good luck everyone!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have now beat the odds 2 years in a row!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Got to go to Vegas AND still get into Englishtown!!!!
Gotta love fast computers and not being really busy at work so I could sit here the past 10 minutes and hit refresh every 10 seconds.

Although, I'm glad I'm planning to go to 7 this year...I hate having to worry about it every year and have pop-up messages reminding me, a cell phone alarm, and (just in case) Mike giving me a 10 minute warning. I was like sick all morning til now.

Ok, now to get Jakey in with a 4 into Super Gas...looks like a good chance.

sg1838 05-02-2007 11:21 AM

I'm actually REALLY surprised. 15 minutes have passed, and only 2 people have registered in that time. I expected the final nine slots to be gone in a matter of seconds. It's still going to take a grade point of 5 to get in, but anybody with a grade point of 5 that REALLY wanted to get it, could have got it.

I wonder if NHRA would notice if I flipped my 2 upside down and backwards...

And at this point I'd feel pretty good about getting into S/G with a grade of 4. I'm really pretty surprised that there's currently less S/G entries than S/St entries. Coincidence, or is it saying something about the state of the classes?

Anyway, congrats Kelli...

Anyone remember the run schedule for fri last yr at the etown nats specifically s/st & s/sg, what time did they each run 1st rd.
Gary

SSTHottie1236 05-02-2007 01:01 PM

Jason, thanks, I'm very excited now.

Gary, I remember Super Street running first round Friday morning at 10 cause I remember winning and thinking "it's like 11:00 and I'm done for the day".
Super Gas, hmmm, I forget exactly but I'm pretty sure it was before Q1 of pros. I know two years ago that was true cause I remember my dad winning 1st round, then going over to work on the Pro Stock stuff, ran all their qualifying sessions, then came back and ran 2nd round after Q4 (kinda funny if you think about it). I'm thinking that was the same last year. Mike, you were still in, you remember?
